Re: PC specs

My really old gaming computer (was good years ago) is still able to max out NBA 2k12 @ 45-60 FPS

Evga GTS 250
Q6600 2.4 Ghz
4 GB DDR2 Ram
7200 RPM HDD

^ If that can run it max.. I don't see any reason why most people cant. The GTS 250 is a REALLY old card and the Q6600 was the 1st ever quad core from Intel. Not exactly "new" specs.

I've posted this in other topics as well. Constant 60 FPS on a dual-core E6750 @3.2GHz, 4GB DDR2, GTX460, if no I/O or CPU intensive processes were running in the background. Everything maxed, AA 4x, except Crowd which was on Medium.

And don't say it was the graphics card that was good enough. It was hardly utilized. I got 100% on my CPU and never above 30% on my GPU. Bad optimization on 2K's part, and unless 2K paid special attention to the PC port this year (lol, never), a good CPU is more important than your GPU, as far as NBA 2K goes.

Come to think about that, dual core processors and better that can run the game pretty well are cheaper than good videocards. It might have been a decision to make the game playable for people with lower specs.

3.3ghz is the sweet spot for the cpu in this game if you are running a dual core.Your card is more than good enough for this game you should have EVERYTHING ON HIGH i was able to max this game out with a GTS 250 and a e5400 @3.3ghz 1600x1200 res.

My current rig i have a i5 2500k 8gb ram and a GTX570 every so often i have to delete the config file in %appdata% because the frames will drop below 30 its a 2k issue since 2k10,sometimes you have to benchmark more than one time to get the frames that you should have.

CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 =4
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 =4
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = 4
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 =4

try this you should have a smoother frame rate

MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 6
GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 7

EDIT by Leftos:
@Ronnie2K: @maxp2k10pcCHAMP the low benchmark on pc should no longer be an issue in #NBA2K13 per Erick Boenisch

If that's actually true that's AMAZING NEWS.

Yeah that is definitely right since I got 56 EVERYTHING ON HIGH in 1080p with a 3.0GHZ core 2 duo which I will OC after I replace the thermal paste.

Interesting wording. Why not just say they fixed the issue with low graphics online for PC users?

Re: PC specs

I really should get a CPU upgrade for 2K13. My current CPU is old Core 2 Duo E7300 @ 2.66GHz and I finally know why I'm stuck at 40-45 fps, thanks guys!

one question, I have a GTS 250 and 4GB RAM, u guys think I should upgrade these too?

Re: PC specs

Sat Sep 22, 2012 8:54 pm

If you could overclock that CPU of yours safely to 3-3.2GHz you may get a bit better performance, but if you're not experienced in that aspect, forget my advice. Wouldn't want to fry your CPU, would you?

In any case, that 250 won't be holding its water for very long, but the only way to know if it's a bottleneck in the games you're playing is to check out its usage. Fire up MSI Afterburner (don't worry about the MSI in the name) or Process Explorer and check out how high the GPU Usage % is during games that you play. If it's on 100%, then it's a GPU bottleneck. If the CPU is on 100%, then it's a CPU bottleneck. That information should prove useful to know what's the first piece of hardware you should upgrade.

overclock to 3.3ghz thats all you need to do i had the same setup a year ago .

Guess he feels that's a more positive way of phrasing it.

In other words, if you could run NBA 2K12 without any problems, you're set this year. That said, I'd never discourage a PC gamer from upgrading in general, if they have the means. ;)

Thanks man, I was worried I wasn't going to run the game well, but what if I only have 8gb's of RAM?

Re: PC specs

Wed Oct 03, 2012 5:52 pm

notoshiro, only 8gbs of ram? You should be able to run this game fine even with 2GBs of RAM. Your RAM doesn't matter, unless you have anything less than 2.

Okay thanks! Can't wait to get my hands on this game

what do you think guys, I have a dual core procee. in 3.2 ghz speed (stock), can I play 2k13 smoothly?, in 2k12 I have no problem with this spec...even in max settings...

As I said, if you could run 2K12 without any problems, you should be fine for 2K13.

Re: PC specs

im getting slightly better fps than i did with 2k12 (1-2) 48 crosscourt, 55 mid court, 60 inside the 3 point line.

my specs are t9600 + gt 240m (a 6000 3dmark06 score system)

Re: PC specs

Guys i simply think (and i believe it since 2k9) that the optimisation on pc is sooo goood! I run it almost high on an i3 380m , with ati 6370m and 4 gb of ram. As you can see , my gpu is not powerfull enough , but on max (except AA and crowd to medium) i get an 50+ fps all the time, which is good for me.Im running the game on a Samsung Led 32'' through HDMi at 1366*768.
On the other hand , In the same pc , gta iv , was only playable on 800*480 .. :x :oops: I haveny seen really any worst optimisation on a game.
Although rockstar did some miracles on their new game max payne i would be able to play at medium settings at good fps and directx11 , so im kind of optimistic for gta V!!

Re: PC specs

Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:41 pm

intel core i5 @ 2.66 GHZ up to 2.9GHZ with a GT 540m. I only get 50 fps with everything maxed including v sync and AA on 2x.. a bit weird how i don't get 60 FPS straight.

Re: PC specs

Mon Oct 08, 2012 11:04 pm

intel core i5 3.30GHz, gtx570, all maxed steady 60 fps and going over...
