Sounds like a great opportunity, I'm definitely in favour of community based initiatives. Hopefully, Da_Czar can get involved too.

Pretty much irrelevant to me at this point. I doubt if 2K has a problem in it that's really discouraging Smoove will be allowed to talk about it.

Yeah, they'll probably have a deal like "you can share everything you see, as long as it's followed by a positive comment". :P

I'd send Vlad and me, not to just see stuff, but to actually be hired. We have enough programming experience to redesign their roster structure from scratch, and fix those damn bugs they keep leaving unfixed. :P

I can't speak for 2K, but I can say that I've never been instructed to speak positively about games I've seen at past NBA Live community events; only not to talk about this or that until PR says it's OK to start talking about it. Of course, that doesn't mean that the demonstration can't be set up in a way that garners a more positive response and what you see doesn't always reflect the final product.

That's a shame for him, would've been an awesome opportunity.

I don't see how going to 2K this late will be anything more than extra marketing for 2K. They won't have any time to implement any suggestions this year, except in a patch by February.

They're not looking for suggestions. They didn't even lie about it in the announcement. They're just bringing those guys over to release information through them, information that they'd otherwise release themselves. It's a nice marketing move, and it's great to be able, as a respected member of the community, have an early look at the game.

They're not messing with the code 2 months before release, the risk for bugs to arise on release day is too great. They're just QA'ing the shit out of it until it goes to manufacturing.

But, judging by VC and 2K lately, I'm deluding myself and they're not going through any QA at all, and we'll have a nice game full of bugs again come October.

Prove me wrong, 2K. I dare you.

I heard some companies have software that can do a bit of QA with scripts.

Even going to the community event for Elite 11 in late April, they didn't implement a lot of the suggestions, but a few were there, like the in and out dribble and the defensive slide.

Yeah, it's called Unit Testing. 2K needs to seriously prove that they have actually decent QA anyway, both automated and manual.

Hopefully the guys can still give suggestions for future games (or patches maybe?) based on the gameplay they see.

I think one of the issues with testing is that they build it to play a certain way, and when they test, they test it in a way to make sure things are working as intended, not as much testing like a gamer would play, which is where all the major issues show up. There's always that, the possibility of patching a few things into the game post-release or implementing it next year; it could allow them to get the jump on that. If there are tweaks, I'd expect them to be minor ones but even so, that could make some difference to the discerning gamer.

If nothing else, it'll mean we get impressions and answers from fellow gamers rather than marketing materials. That's always welcome.
