How do you remove the shine on the jerseys?

I was just messing around with the 3DM tool and Photoshop editig the Lakers away jersey. This is the outcome that I want to have.. http://www2.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Los+ ... aek95l.jpg
But when I play it in-game. the jersey does not look that way. it's somewhat "wrapped in a plastic thingy that makes it look dark purplish, rather that a saturated blue one." And my observation is that, the shine is the one messing the color up. Can I remove it? so that it would look like the pic I posted above? Which has no shine whatsover. Thanks!
