Question about My Player/CAL simulations

It seems like the simulation stats (when we are benched) are incredibly high scoring. In two minutes of simming the two teams can combine for a lot of points.
I play 8 minute QTRS and my team so far has scored between 100-110 points per game (CPU around that as well). That is incredibly high. How can this fast paced scoring in simulation be toned down? Or do I just have to wait till I get more playing time so this wont be as big of a problem?
