New update causes CTD - PC

So ive got a problem here.
Since the dec 25 update the game crashes just right before the "menu screen" when its loading profile and all that.
The dec 21 update works just fine, but all updates after that has caused this problem.
I can rule out the roster files because i can update the "saves" folder but not the "online data" folder.
I dont have that many mods installed, just 1 cyber face update to norris cole, nothing else.
When the jan 5 update came i read that you could make the files "read-only" but that doesnt work either.
So now im reaching out to you guys for a solution.

turn off the internet and try using this update Official NBA 2K13 Roster & Online Data Update
will the game load then?

if not, try remove that update and the entire online data folder, start the game with your internet unplugged/off again, will that work?

I am already offline on that computer so that wont work.
I downloaded the provided roster/online data update and it did not work either.. Its making me mad I have made a support ticket at 2ksports but it was like 4 days ago and they have not answered.
Also, when i dont set the files in online data to read only the whole "download" folder disappears. This has also happened since the dec 25 update.
Its just strange, i cant figure out what they changed in the online data folder between the dec 21 and the dec 25 update..

Update:
It worked now, i did as you suggested and removed the whole online data folder and updated again and it worked.
Wow i feel stupid for not trying that sooner..
