  • Have two roster files. 1 for the original rosters and 1 for the roster you will be editing
  • You cannot edit player ages (causing early retirement for some players unfortunately)
  • CAP's can be added to free agent pool (workaround for getting generic players off legend teams)
  • Only 10 Create-A-Team slots
  • Can add any legends to FA pool

Now this is what I have found you can do:
-You can use any of the legend team(s) (once you unlock them all) in offline Association
-You can use any of the legend team(s)/player(s) (once you unlock them all) in Creating a Legend or My Player
-You can put any legend(s) onto current teams and vice versa
-You can put any legend(s) into FA pool

Legend Team(s) in offline Association Mode

1.Start new offline association
2.Turn the option for Customize League to on
3.Replace any team(s) you want with the legend team(s)
*Note. Fantasy Draft with the old players can be done too*

Legend(s) into FA Pool
*Limit of 158 Legends in FA Pool*

1.Start new season mode with number of teams you plan to export
2.Once in season export the team(s).(Important you must click the right stick on the headlines menu to what team you want to export)
3.Leave season mode.
4.Load the exported team(s)
5.Assign FA players to exported legends teams to have full rosters.
6.Release Legend(s) you want into FA pool
(Have to repeat step 5 to be able to keep releasing legends)
7.Once you've released the legend(s) you want into the FA pool, delete the exported teams in the create team menu.
8. Go back to rosters and they should be in FA pool.
9.Save Roster then repeat steps

*Note. By deleting the created teams it allows you to open those 10 slots back up and do 10 more legends teams. You do not have to delete the exported team(s) off your hard drive.*

Legend Teams or Players in Creating a Legend or My Player Modes
*Note.Cant use legend courts or jerseys for Creating a Legend or My Player Modes*

1.Start new season mode with number of teams you plan to export
2.Once in season export the team(s).(Important you must click the right stick on the headlines menu to what team you want to export)
3.Leave season mode.
4.Load the exported team(s)
5.Trade the legends you want onto the current team you want them to be on.(ex. ORL Shaq to new Lakers for Bynum or any other player)
6.Save Roster and Start up Creating a Legend or My Player

Using Classic Team Jerseys (can't use courts) in offline Association w/current player(s).
*Note: Limit is 10 exported teams at a time so only 10 exported teams would be allowed in the Association*

1.Start new season mode with number of teams you plan to export
2.Once in season export the team(s).(Important you must click the right stick on the headlines menu to what team you want to export)
3.Leave season mode.
4.Load the exported team(s)
5.Make Trade for the players you from the legends exported team with the current team(ex. Trade the Player(s) to the OKC or any other team for the player(s) you do not want on the team
6.Save roster
7.Start Offline Association with the Customize League option on
8.Exchange the team you want to exchange with your exported team

This probably sounds and looks real complicating. We shouldn't have to do all this but we do. Trust me tho this works. This is not the answer to all the problems. Hopefully 2k will patch in being able to fully customize all players.
Opinions are my own.

only 158 legends in the draft pool? even if you assign all the free agents to the classic teams to free up room in the pool? just move all the scrubs who wont even play this year ( that would actually be everybody)if the plan is to get the legends into the FA pool to use them during association mode... this seems like it would be the easiest way. also, just edit the legends/classic player's ages once you start association mode. thats what i did last year..

Can't get this to work. Each time I try and release a Legend from the Imported Team, it prompts me to "permanently" release the player from the created/imported team. Assigning or trading players from an imported/created team is also not allowed... meaning step 6 and beyond is not possible.

Anybody confirmed this to work properly?

I'm using the "unlock everything" procedure... is that why I can't release/assign/trade the legends?

I dont know about that...all i did was copy the jao settings file ...and when i launched all thing were unlocked...

do you run season customise and add a classic team in the conference to export that classic team ?

Yes, I did everything correctly up to the 6th procedure but can't proceed past that part. And yes, I'm using Jao's "unlock everything"

Ok, I'm kinda new to this but how the hell do you export a team from association or season? I don't see any option for exporting a team to get the legends.

Dumb question, but once I've loaded 10 exported teams, how do I delete some of them to be able to load more? Thanks.

goto manage roster, create a team, then highlight the team you want to delete and press Y on the 360 controller. On the keyboard that might be whatever rebound is

Anyone else having strange things happen to their roster file while trying to get this to work? For some reason, Glen Davis changed his first name to Stevie and Jeff Green is now Jeff E. Also, some of the legend teams are turning into each other when I load them up. I'm using Jao's Unlock them All settings file if that makes a difference.

did you do any hex editing of the roster? usually that corruption happens when people try to bypass CAP limits and stuff, but this is the first I've heard of it messing up from in-game stuff.

It should be, all the steps are performed in-game.

I have successfully added young Jordan to the create a legend mode.

Is it possible to use Jordan in Myplayer mode? I've seen screenshots of legends in myplayer mode. http://basketball-pics.blogspot.com/201 ... tches.html

Everytime I start a new myplayer mode, it wants me to make a customizable player.

How to get Legends onto Association Simple

Postby shreehari17 on Thu Nov 10, 2011 10:42 pm

Hello Guys Im going to teach you how to get Legends such as Michel Jordan, Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Kareem, Magic ,Wilt,Big O, Jerry West etc in
Assosiation mode in NBA 2K12.

1. First you must play in NBA Greatest Mode and unlock all the teams.
2. Now create a new assosiation Mode.
3. When Creating a new assosiation mode make sure that you switch off trade deadline , trade override and cpu trades.
4. Now switch on the customize league option.
5. Now while customizing the teams select all the unlocked teams that you had previously unlocked by playing NBA Greatest mode.
6. Eg: 64-65 celtics instead of cavs ,64-65 lakers instead of timberwolves etc. Now Select one team as ur user contolled team.
7. Now you must download the attachment from this forum
viewtopic.php?f=143&t=82611

8.After downloading open the file it will be in chinese.
9.Now the translations in english is available in the same forum
ie)http://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=82611
10.Below age there will be three dialog boxes showing your cap room value
11. Add some zeros to those values so that your cap room is positive.
12. Now your user controlled team will have cap space to make any trades
13. Now eg if have selected ur user controlled team as Mavs u can now trade jj barea for michael jordan
14. Similarly u can trade Tyson Chandler for Wilt chamberlain.
15. Make trades until u are satisfied with ur team.
16.You can now trade anybody from ur team for anybody from other team.
17. By doing this i have my team as follows jordan.wilt, kareem, jerry west, kobe, lebron, howard, big o,bill russel, larry, magic, shaq ,cp3,duncan,durant in one team
18.Enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
