How to compile individual season mods into one mod?

Postby Zagor on Wed Dec 10, 2025 7:38 am

Deal NLSC modders and editors,

with emergance of amazing but individual retro season mods by Paxon-for-3, I would like to ask you how we could compile each of his individual season mods into one mod, so every roster file reads correct graphics file from main 2k folder? Is there a tutorial on how to do it?

Basically something like Vintage rosters mod, UBR and URB.

It would be possible, but you'd have to rename everything for each season—all the logos, courts, cyberfaces, etc.

My solution so far: I use WinRAR to pack the "NBA2K11" folder (without compression) and name it something like "Season 1998." I do this for each season, and when I want to play a particular season, I just unpack the corresponding folder.

All the season saves can remain in the save folder; that's not a problem.

That would mean 4 and more game folders, which uses too much space on a drive.

And if you look at UBR, URB and Vintage rosters mod, not all files need to be renamed. In fact, some cfs, jerseys, courts, dornas, stadiums, etc. were the same for multiple seasons. Just those where there is a particular change.

From the 2010 season to 2005, there are approximately 300 new files for logos alone. Then there are another 350 or so cyberfaces and portraits each. That means roughly 1000 new files. All of these have to be renamed manually and then adjusted in the editor, since NBA 2K11 only accesses files with the original filenames. So, 1000 files need to be adjusted in the editor and 1000 files need to be renamed. And that's for every season. Another consequence is that the NBA 2K11 folder on the hard drive becomes enormous because it has to contain all the files. Certainly, there will be some overlap in logos and players from season to season, but basically, depending on the number of retro seasons, it will be 3 to 7 times larger. This shouldn't be forgotten if someone ever goes to the trouble of merging all of this.

i also think it would be awesome if somehow all individual seasons you plan to release could be a part of one retro mod. it would be like a dream come true for all 2k11 fans. but i'm also aware how challenging this task could be.

I understand, but I never thought about making so many retro season mods. I was thinking just those you already made and plan to make. In that regard, my personal prefference are 90s and early 2000s.

In any case, I still have strong hope something could be achived to have at least few retro season mods in one package, so that you don't have to use so many differnet cfs, uniforms, courts, etc...
