Public Service Announcement for Patch Releasers

Mon Nov 15, 2010 2:33 am

I, on the behalf of the general community ask all of you to maintain a proper first post that lists all of your downloads.

It only takes a few seconds to hit the EDIT button in your first post and add your latest download. It makes finding patches much easier and gets you more downloads since it is easier to find.

So please, to all CF, Court, Jersey, Global and other patch makers, keep an updated first post rather than say "Paul Pierce CF released on page 27".

I second this. No one wants to search through pages and pages of  posts.

Good. Makes things easy to see. I hope all the patchers read and comply to this. (Y)

I agree it's the way to go for release threads, be they for Live or 2K. (Y)

when will be this implemented and how?

this isnt something for use to implement or enforce. it is a suggestion to all patch releasers to keep an organized first post to make finding their patches easier.

I think it should be a forum rule (Y) When it is like your example "Paul Pierce CF released on page 27" I wonder other 26 pages but it takes too much time to check that pages.

but come to think of it i think there will be some consequences if they do this if they post all their work in 1st page there will be a massive loading happening if they do that i mean the browsing will be more slower if you get what im saying and i think some releasers dont put it on the 1st page so that their will be a loyal subscribers watching their thread not just those people who just passes by to dl their work without showing some appreciation :) if you know what i mean :) i hope you guys get my point :) but still it is also a good suggestion to put all their works in the 1st post for easier viewing :)

loading time is not an issue. it depends on how they organize the first post. they can just use thumbnails that are linked to the full-res pics instead of putting oversized screenshots.

would this website ever consider putting 2k downloads in a section on the main page like with NBA live?

We've been doing it for a while. Submissions for the 2K games are most welcome and as with the NBA Live downloads, we can help out with file hosting. We certainly encourage everyone to submit their files for inclusion in the database, be they for NBA Live or NBA 2K. :)

I might go ahead and sticky this thread too. Making it a rule would be a bit excessive but it's still something that we'd strongly recommend for everyone's convenience.

That or the patchers could just post the page link where the patch was released in their thread if they don't want the extra work of organizing their first page.

--> Release patch in most recent post, copy link of that post, edit the first post of their thread by pasting the copied link, type basic details of the patch, done.

it's so easy to put all your downloads in the first page stop making these kinds of suggestions.. it's not 1998, your internet connections are fast enough to load them all in at most a minute.. except for those patchers who HAVE to put in HD pics of their patches, then they should just use thumbnails.. that's it. stop being lazy people.

True but we certainly can't whip the patchers to do what we want for our own convenience. It's better to give them all possible options to make downloading easier for us. Patchers do this thing for free on their own time (except for one here, you know who you are) and we can't impose on them a specific format. While it is convenient for those that need to download the patch, not so sure if it's convenient for some patchers that may not necessarily have the time to really organize the availability of the patches in their first page for downloading. What I gave was a suggestion that at least makes it easier to find and download the patches and not too 'work heavy' on the patchers themselves. It's up to them if they want to follow it or not anyway. Stop making statements that exposes your lack of a brain.
