Season Tip-Off only hours away - the NBA goes into the 2011-2012 season
Sonicsfan88 for Sonics.com
Posted on October 26th 11:13AM

The NBA tips off tonight when the Denver Nuggets will host last year's champion - the LA Lakers. It has been a long offseason once again for all hoop fans and players and we're looking forward for tonight's game.

The month of October has pretty good games in store as you - the fans - can vote for one game to be recapped here on Sonics.com. Yeah, you're right - we will recap on non-Sonics game per month for you this season and you can choose from a pretty high-quality amount of matches that will take place this month:

10/29 - LAC @ LAL

The new-looking Clippers will look to get the upper hand in the battle at the city of the angels. Stephen Jackson & co will "visit" Kobe Bryant and the Lakers for the first time just three days into the season.

10/29 - MIA@ORL

The Magic look pretty much different from last year and will try to beat the last year Conference Finalists out of Miami. The Heat will try to get their "Heat for World Champions" campaign running early in the season.

10/30 - BOS@CHI

The Bulls will try to take revenge and beat the Celtics after loosing in seven games in the last Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. This time, the Bulls won't have any injured players, whilst the Celtics will miss Glen Davis who is out with a knee injury for the first two weeks in the season.

Let's get ready for Sonics basketball

These NBA top games will definitely be worth watching, but we know that we are all here to watch one team - our Seattle Supersonics. Coach Hova and his squad will have three games in October, two at home (get your tickets here and one at home:

27/10 - DEN@SEA

Our Sonics team will try to grab the first win of the season against a new-formed Denver Nuggets squad. Come to Key-Arena and help our team to celebrate the first win of the season against a team without a leader with Melo and Chauncey gone.

29/19 - SEA@GSW

The first tough game for Seattle as they had south to Oakland and try to beat the young Warriors. Golden State can be dangerous, especially in the open court. Let's hope for a straight defensive effort by our squad to grab the number one road win of the season.

31/10 - MEM@SEA

Home-game number two for the Supersonics. Come and support our squad when they meet the South-West Grizzlies. Memphis will miss Hasheem Thabeet, who is out for about four weeks with an ankle injury. Maybe DeMarcus Cousins and co. can take advantage of the short frontcourt and grab the win.

Thanks for hyping this one. I'm looking forward to season number two, although the post above looks a bit meager.

Thanks for supporting this one. (Y)

Okay guys, thanks for voting and thanks for hyping this one and still following.

I really, really appreciate your love (Y) Never have come that far with a D, which I still think has to do with the greatness of 2k11 (really, this is the first 2k game since 2k8 that does not get boring) and for sure with your support.

The Clippers vs the Lakers will be the match that I will play (one half each team, I give my best, don't say I'm gonna cheat or something SIT ;) ) and recap.

Even Luis Chase's 27 weren't enough to lift Seattle in their season home opener

Gallinari's deep three at the buzzer stuns Seattle in season opener

Box Score

SEATTLE, OCTOBER 27th (AP) - Tyreke Evans and Luis Chase combine for 54 points as Danilo Gallinari hits the game winner @Seattle.

In the end, it was a game that could not have been closer at the Emerald City.

The Denver Nuggets were looking to grab their 2nd win of the season after surprisingly taking down the L.A. Lakers in the NBA's season tip-off at Denver one night ago.

And the Nuggets played like they still had this game in their legs, but were able to grab a last-second win vs a young Sonics team that came to play.

Danilo Gallinari was the man of the match as he earned himself a new nickname. "The Italian iceman" definitely delivered at the end of the match.

Luis Chase, the Sonics rookie who had 27 points in the game, blocked a jumpshot from Raymond Felton with 30 seconds left in the game and was able to draw the foul on the other end, hitting both freethrows. The Sonics took a 99-98 lead at that point.

The Nuggets ran down the court and were able to free up Gallinari, who had 25 points in the game at that time, but did not hit one of his six three point attempts. He missed again, and DeMarcus Cousins grabbed the rebound and got fouled with 1.3 seconds left on the clock.

Cousins, who had a double-double in the game with 11 points and 11 boards, only hit the second free throw to increase Seattle's lead to 100-98.

Denver called a time out and planned to give the ball to Ty Lawson who had 10 points and 9 assists in the game as a starter. "The Sonics covered Ty (Lawson) but surprisingly the left Dani (Gallinari) open. He wasn't my first option because his long range shot wasn't falling, but then he hit. He's clutch", new Denver Coach Alex English said after the game.

Gallinari scored his points 26,27 and 28 on 13-29 shooting from seven feet behind the threepoint line. The shot fell in with the buzzer and Denver won the game.

Ironically in a way, that Gallinari wasn't even starting, but stepped into the game after just one minute being played because Wilson Chandler came down akwardly after hitting the game's first shot in the lane. "His back just cramped", English told the media. "He might miss the next two weeks with serious back spasms".

So they guy they name "Gallo" stepped in and scored 13 points in the 1st quarter. Sonics rookie Luis Chase countered with 12 and the game was tied at the half. Newly acquired Jarvis Hayes hit two straight threes in the second quarter.

Sonics franchise player Tyreke Evans scored 9 of his 27 points in the 4th and was pretty angered by the loss. "I think we need to play better D in that situation. Jarvis (Hayes) should have been on Gallinari", the guard moaned afterwards.

The Nugget surprised with a small-ball line-up for most of the game and Raymond Felton had a great game as a shooting guard scoring 22 points on 9-16 shooting and also adding 6 boards and 7 assists.

The Nuggets will have two days off now, whilst the Sonics will move on to Oakland after a one-day break to visit the Warriors. Take a look at the game highlights (ending with Gallinari's game-winner and at rookie Luis Chase's highlights, who really had a great game in his professional debut.

NOTES: Raymond Felton and Danilo Gallinari combined for 50 points off the bench ... the Nuggets had only 12 free throw attempts but hit 9 of them ... Seattle crushed their way to 34 free throw attempts but only hit 23 ... Denver did not block one shot ... Wilson Chandler will miss at least four games for the Nuggets ... Luis Chase and Tyreke Evans combined for 24 free throw attempts ... Nene had 8 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter ... the Sonics bench only took 18 shots ... Seattle also lost it's last season opener (vs Minnesota) ...

Good to see Chase and Evans have the potential to become a deadly scoring duo. Gallo showing major range on that three. :|

|)e8*, I was like WTF. It happens to me so often that I loose those close games. Goddam Gallo, he's playing superb since joining Denver.

Sit, got to have you as my number one fan. I really felt like we could keep up with the Nuggets, so I hope that the Sonics can have something to do with the postseason.

Houndy, thanks, just what I thought, too. Quite close shit.

Thierry •, it felt so good to see him missing his first seven threes, because usually he's hitting more than .500 vs me from down town. Chase really feels so good to play. Cool player (Y)

Lamrock, he really is. He reminds me of Terrell Brandon. Quick first step, good pull up jumper from mid-range and also wearing NR 1.

CHUCK, yeah I thought of it because good ice cream comes from Italy and he was clutch. Thanks for the wishes.

Grandmama Johnson, I was glad indeed, but a loss is a loss and we have to start winning games earlier than last season to achieve our goals.

Axel., 54 points ain't that bad, you're right, but sometimes it's hard because both need the ball in their hands, although Evans has developed a solid mid range J in this D.

Thanks for all the comments, LAC-LAL will be next, maybe when I come home from work tomorrow. Gotta sleep now ;)
