I may not have a choice unfortunately as he may choose not to re-sign.

Image 2011 OFF-SEASON RECAP - NBA DRAFT LOTTERY

2011 NBA DRAFT LOTTERY

X: "Going into the 2011 NBA Draft Lottery, Philadelphia (25.0%) has the best odds at winning the top pick, followed by New Jersey (19.9%) and Minnesota (15.6%). Memphis (0.5%) has the lowest odds of winning the top pick after finishing the season with a 45-37 record and narrowly missing out on the playoffs due to a tiebreaker.

Let's cross to the NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver to announce the final order of the NBA Draft Lottery.”

Silver: “Thanks X and good luck everyone. The 14th pick goes to….

Image

the Memphis Grizzlies.”

X: “The Grizzlies were very unlucky last season, being the only team in a 4-way tie with a record of 45-37 to miss the playoffs.”

Silver: “The 13th pick will be made by….

Image

the Sacramento Kings.”

X: “Tyreke had a breakout year but he needs more support.”

Silver: “The 12th pick goes to….

Image

the Utah Jazz.”

X: “After a woeful start to last season, the Jazz couldn’t recover lost ground.”

Silver: “Picking number 11 will be….

Image

the Milwaukee Bucks.”

X: “Bucks were one of more disappointing teams from 2010/11 season but have two first round picks this year.”

Silver: “The 10th pick in the Draft will go to….

Image

the Indiana Pacers.”

X: “That means Atlanta has moved all the way up to the top 3.”

Silver: “The 9th pick will be made by….

Image

the Cleveland Cavaliers.”

X: “The second coming of Lebron won’t be available at this spot. The second coming of Dejuan Wagner might be.”

Silver: “The 8th pick goes to….

Image

New Orleans Hornets.”

X: “Hornets will hope to strike it big this off-season if they want to convince Chris Paul to stick around.”

Silver: “The 7th pick will be made by….

Image

the Los Angeles Clippers.”

X: “Rookie Blake Griffin came on late last season and looks like he, Eric Gordon and Chris Kaman are this team’s building blokes. Clippers have dropped two spots, which means the Golden State Warriors have also moved up.”

Silver: “Pick number 6 belongs to….

Image

the Minnesota Timberwolves.”

X: “That means that Toronto also moves up to the top three. Kahn looks absolutely gutted as Wolves move down from three to six, which was the worst possible scenario for them today. This means that the teams with the three worst records in the NBA (Philadelphia, New Jersey and Minnesota) will pick 4-5-6.”

Silver: “Pick number 5 goes to….

Image

the New Jersey Nets.”

X: “Mikhail Prokhorov doesn’t look too fazed. His expression hasn't changed in the slightest. That’s what happens when you’re a Russian billionaire with the World as your oyster.”

Silver: “And the 4th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft goes to….
Image

the Philadelphia 76ers.”

X: “And then there were three. The Atlanta Hawks, the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors are still in the running. Dominique Wilkins, Stephen Curry and Jerry Colangelo are representing each respective team.

Let's cross back to NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver is ready to announce the top three picks.”

Silver: “Thanks again X. The third pick in this year’s Draft will be made by....

Image

the Toronto Raptors.”

Silver: “The second pick goes to....

Image

the Golden State Warriors.”

Silver: “And that means that the number one pick in the 2011 NBA Draft will be made by....

Image

the Atlanta Hawks.”

X: “This is the first time that Atlanta has ever won the NBA’s Draft Lottery. The highest draft pick that they previously had was the 2nd pick in the 2005 NBA Draft when they selected small forward Marvin Williams of North Carolina ahead of the likes of Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Danny Granger. The Atlanta Hawks will hope for better luck with their next selection and they’ve still got a lot of time between now and NBA Draft Day to drill down on their selection.

With the right pick or move in relation to the top pick, the Hawks could leapfrog other Eastern contenders and become the Miami Heat's biggest threat in the East for years to come. Who will they pick? Well that's anybody's guess as there is no clear cut number one this year. This year’s draft is very deep but it’s a bit too hard to say at this point in time if there is a franchise changing player in it.

That concludes our coverage of the 2011 NBA Draft Lottery. Congratulations again to the Atlanta Hawks, winner of the first pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.”

A really good idea with the draft lottery - I like.

Bad for the Wolves though ... I hope the Hawks can add someone who will kick Joe Johnson out of the rotation :)

Re: X's T'wolves Association (NBA 2K11): MOCK DRAFT v1.0

Postby The X on Fri Mar 11, 2011 10:58 pm

Image 2011 OFF-SEASON RECAP - MOCK DRAFT (POST-DRAFT LOTTERY)

X's MOCK DRAFT v1.0 (POST-DRAFT LOTTERY)

1. Atlanta: PG- Floyd Bradley (Maryland), Soph

Hard to pick, it's either Buchanan or Bradley I believe. Hawks will take who they believe is best overall talent. Since point guard is a harder spot to fill and no guarantees that Teague is their point guard of the future, Bradley might be their man.

2. Golden State: SG/SF- Chuck Smith (Oregon State), Jr

Warriors will probably look for the best wing at this spot, either UCLA's Perry Buchanan or Oregon State's Chuck Smith. Since Smith can play a bit more SF, I'm thinking they might lean towards Chuck.

3. Toronto: SG- Perry Buchanan (UCLA), Soph

Buchanan probably won't be happy to see his name down this far, especially to Toronto, but he won't fall any further than 3. If Perry is off the boards, Raptors will take a hard look at bruising Swede PF Johan Svensson.

4. Philadelphia: PF- Johan Svensson (Sweden)

Go the mo! Swedish PF Svensson has been talked about as a potential top pick all year long but his upside isn't as large as the others being picked above him so this is probably as high as he will go, but could drop down a few more spots.

5. New Jersey: SF- Art Burks (Vanderbilt), Fr

The Nets need help at SF and SG and they've got options like Argentine SG Ciro Nunez and SG Leslie Berry of DePaul but I think they might lean towards Burks.

6. Minnesota: SG- Ciro Nunez (Argentina)

The T'wolves had their eyes on a top 3 pick and would've been happy with any of the top 3 we've mentioned, but now it's just a case of taken the best available talent. Nunez is a lefty in the mold of Manu Ginobili. This is the sort of quirky pick you might expect from GM David Kahn.

7. LA Clippers: PG- Mo Bosh (Nebraska), Sr

The Clippers probably can see that Baron Davis is not in the team's future, so best point guard available is Bosh.

8. New Orleans: SG- Leslie Berry (DePaul), Soph

Hornets will be gutted if Bosh is gone as he'd make for ideal backup (and insurance) for Chris Paul. Hornets really need a starting shooting guard and Leslie Berry is best on board at this juncture.

9: Cleveland: PF/SF- Rickey Harper (Memphis), Soph

Hard to know what direction the Cavs will go, wouldn't be surprised if they reached at undersized tweener forward Rickey Harper.

10: Indiana: PG- Lambros Washburn (Washington), Fr

Pacers will either go with a power forward (Dion Baylor perhaps) or a point (Washburn is best on clock). Washburn needs time, but he'll get a chance as Collison's backup.

11: Milwaukee: PF- Dion Baylor (Ole Miss), Soph

Bucks always seem to need help on boards and Baylor can provide.

12: Utah: SG- Dillon Stevens (Miami [FL]), Sr

Stevens had a great run in the Big Dance and the Jazz likes selecting college players who are proven during March Madness. Stevens should be able to slot straight in as starting shooting guard next to Deron Williams.

13: Sacramento: C- Jamaal Fordham (Illinois), Jr

Kings will probably use this pick to take one of the solid bigs on the offer. Either Fordham (Illinois), Chuck Long (West Virginia) or Rudolph Schultz (Kansas State). They don't get much bigger than Fordham (7'6", 291lbs), so Kings might put him on the buffet line next to DeMarcus Cousins.

14: Memphis: SF- Richie Strickland (Baylor), Jr

Grizzlies might take a long look at William Witt, who could backup Mike Conley, but he isn't the pedigree NBA-ready player that Richie Strickland is. Strickland is looking like he's somebody who could potentially go half a dozen spots higher than this.

Hope you guys like. As for Draft Lottery, I was spitting chips when I drew the worst possible pick I could've, 6th (N)

I really had my heart set on a starting SG. I still might get it at 6 but it probably won't be the pedigree of Buchanan or Chuck Smith, who both could be All-Star type players within 2-3 years.

It's tough for you because Minny's stacked with talent which makes drafting not really easy. If you could retain Brewer, there was no need for a SG imho, Johnson's just as good @SG.

The question is, who will be a key of your future and which players will have to go? I mean Flynn, Johnson, Love, Milicic etc are talented players (yeah, even Darko), but if you want to contend you need a mixture between young, upcoming guys and some veterans who have already proven themselves and have solid outputs.

For me, especially Flynn is not really a good choice as a starting PG. He is too small and his shot isn't consistent enough. Love & Johnson should be the heart of your team for a long time.

Gives you open spots @PG, SG and C. But I doubt you could get a decent C in the draft. So for me, Floyd Bradley would be your man, good PGs are rare. But with the sixth pick, it will be difficult to improve via draft.

Yeah, I agree with hova. You should really be aiming for a starting PG. A good 2-3-4 starting combo is Johnson-Beasley-Love with Darko at the C. Jonny Flynn is a good player in my eyes, but I think he only makes a good backup point guard.

This one is on hold for now. Picked up a trojan & some bugs in NLSC I believe so out of commission until I sort it out or buy a laptop since my current computer is 7 or 8 years old. I've finished the off-season. Had actually finished that on Saturday but obviously computer issues won't allow me to proceed on for a little for a little bit.

Badger wrote:What happened to Hawks? I couldn't follow this one perfectly, did they had a big injury?

No, just a mediocre season.

Yep, the dilemma of the T-wolves. I don't like Flynn either but I don't think Bradley would drop as far as sixth.

I see Wes Johnson as a starting 3, but hey, that's just me. Looks like you guys have forgotten Rubio, who may come over this off-season :P

I'll let CPU make offers for now.

I don't think Flynn or Rubio are starting quality on a playoff team, but hey, I guess we're not a playoff team.

Lambros might be a little overrated, but given he's got more size than you, I think he's a better prospect. I preferred using him as well in pre-draft workouts over your alter ego :P
