Celtics Not Feeling So Green After Hosting KD & Krew
Seattle Stealth at Boston Celtics: 141-118

January 17, BOSTON (AP) – Boston Celtics fans were silent for most of the third quarter. The Garden was silent in the fourth quarter because there weren’t many fans around to watch the end of the game. The match was an embarrassing blowout of epic proportions as the sea of fans in Celtic green were witnesses to the Stealth’s 22nd straight victory.
Reshawn Tyson scored 27 points and Kevin Durant had 25. The pair were joined by six other teammates scoring in double figures for the second consecutive game. Of those six players, Andrew Bogut and Jason Kidd scored 16 apiece.
“These guys were just too good tonight,” Celtics captain Paul Pierce said after the match, “There is a reason why they are doing so well. This team is like what we had back when we won it all. They have depth and they have stars at all five positons.” Pierce was held to 13 points on 5 for 14 shooting from the field. Ray Allen had a good shooting night en route to finishing with 25 points (9-15 FG, 5-7 3PT) while Kevin Garnett added 18 points and 7 rebounds.
The Stealth blitzed the home side in a 51-25 third quarter effort that had the Boston faithful groaning on every Seattle basket. Garnett was so frustrated that he punched the ground at the baseline and was called for a technical foul. “We will get them when we go to Seattle,” Garnett said in reference to Boston playing Seattle again in a week’s time.
Notes: Second year player and last year’s number one overall draft pick Jao Wu’s 11 points made this match his second straight double digit game. He has never scored double digits in three straight games during his career… Seattle hosts San Antonio in their next game…
