Noted, but you've got bigger problems then trying to outplay me on the court...you gotta convince D'Antoni to play you over Anthony Parker and Anthony Morrow first....right now you are the third string on rotation bro :?

New Look Nets Crush Rival Knicks in Season Opener
Image

East Rutherford, NJ - It didn't take the Nets long to get used to the new features in their team, whether it's the new coach, new offense, or their 7 new players.

Led by Yao Ming, the new look Nets embarrassed their cross-town rival Knicks easily with a 112-89 victory in their season opener at home in the Izod Center.

Yao took home player of the game honors after a solid 17 point, 12 rebound, 3 block and 4 assist performance in just 23 minutes of play. Sean Williams, despite suffering from a twisted ankle from the preseason games, also had a double double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Leo Lai had a game high 22 points while also putting up 4 boards, 5 dimes and 2 steals in his 28 minutes of play while offseason signing Ray Allen dropped in 18 points on 5 for 15 shooting off the bench. Trevor Ariza had 12 points and 8 rebounds while Shannon Brown completes the list of Nets in double figures by posting 10 points from off the bench.

Chauncey Billups, who was acquired from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for rising star Devin Harris, bumped knees with Knicks center Darko Milicic and had to be helped off the court by the Nets trainers during the second quarter, he would return in the second half but was clearly not the same. Billups finished with 7 points and 6 assists in 23 minutes of play, shooting just 3 for 10 from the field. He is scheduled to undergo an X-Ray scan as well as a MRI scan later on today.

The Knicks were led by Al Harrington and David Lee, who both scored a team high 12 points, Lee also had 7 rebounds in his 28 minutes of play. Wilson Chandler dropped in 11 points while starting point guard Chris Duhon had a double double with 11 points and 10 assists, he was the only player to reach double figures in assists in the contest, Duhon also had 5 rebounds and 2 steals in the loss.

If the Knicks had a silver lining in the blowout loss, it would be Center Darko Milicic and the Knicks' lottery pick Thierry Tirieux. Milicic dropped in 10 points and 4 rebounds on a very effective 4 for 5 shooting in 13 minutes of play while the rookie Tirieux played just 5 minutes, but managed to put up 9 points, 1 steal and 1 block in that limited span of time; Tirieux went 4 for 6 from the field (2 outstanding jams) and managed to drop in his only 3 point attempt of the game. Starting SG Anthony Parker was very much different though, as he went 2 for 16 from the field (1-7 from 3) for just 5 points and 4 assists in 31 minutes.

"I don't know why coach is only playing me 5 minutes" said Tirieux "I mean, i showed him i am effective and that i can hold my own out there. No offense to Anthony but I think i should get all those minutes instead."

Furthermore, it looks like Knicks GM Donnie Walsh screwed up big time in the off season. As his other 'prized' signing Glen Davis had just 6 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in 21 minutes. The undersized Davis was clearly outplayed and dominated by the 7'6" Yao Ming and was in foul trouble most of the game, picking up silly fouls and was unable to stop the Nets from finishing at the rim.

"I don't get it, we didn't get LeBron or any of those hyped FAs that i know" said Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni "But surely Donnie could have signed players that could play my style of basketball? I mean, they call him Big Baby for a reason. You think he can run and gun?"

It was pretty much over from the very start, as the Nets came out aggressive and outplayed the Knicks by far in the first quarter. If it was not the Nets bench allowing the Knicks to score 29 second quarter points, the final score would have been much, much more uglier. New Jersey's defense was on a championship level and their hustle specular, evident through their 50 to 36 rebounding advantage. They were aggressive to the basket and made gorgeous finishes, when they missed, Williams and Yao were there to clean up business.

"I loved the defense and effort they showed tonight" said Nets coach Scott Skiles "If they play like this on a nightly basis, we shouldn't have problems against anybody"

Yep, that's me. In fact, Parker played half an hour and only shot 2-of-16, come on

Sweet blocks by Yao. 6 guys in double figures, now that's a good job. Great start for your Nets!

Parker was off the whole game man, if D'Antoni played you more the score would have been better

You'll get more minutes for sure Martti, cause the only one ahead of you in the rotation is Brandan Wright (Y)

Sit shines as Wolves upset Bulls in Season Opener
Image

Minneapolis, MN - Coming into the game, everybody expected the highly hyped Bulls to trash the Wolves and live up to their expectations. Minnesota Rookie Will Sit, however, had other plans.

With 19 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, and a block in a mere 21 minutes of play. The 6'4" rookie out of North Carolina led the Timberwolves to a shocking 112-78 blowout victory at home against the visiting Chicago Bulls in their Season Opener. The Bulls, who were expected to be contenders this season after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last postseason, are now 0-2 to start the season.

"I don't know why everyone is so shocked" said Sit "I would've scored 50 easily, but coach told me to take it easy and rest on the bench for most of the second half"

Sit was aided by the Wolves' newly acquired Danilo Gallinari, who came off the bench and poured in 17 points on 5 for 8 shooting, all 5 of those field goals being from beyond the arc. Last year's number 1 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet had a big double double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Al Jefferson took it lightly and still had an all round performance with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 24 minutes.

The Wolves jumped the Bulls early, and never looked back as they pounded Chicago on both ends of the floor, evident in their 31-14 second quarter. Most importantly, they limited former Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose's effectiveness by putting him in foul trouble.

"They attacked me on offense and got me with some fouls" said Rose "I kinda lost my rhythm and ended up playing a mediocre game"

Rose was just 1-7 from the field in his 26 minutes of play. He finished with 6 points, 9 assists, 1 rebound and 2 steals.

Ben Gordon led the way for the Bulls with 22 points, while Kirk Hinrich had 17 points and 6 assists off the bench. Joakim Noah was also in double figures with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

But those 3 were the only Bulls in double figures.

Minnesota played physically against the Bulls, as shown in their 46-27 rebounding edge with Al Jefferson and Hasheem Thabeet dominating the smaller Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas in the paint. Minnesota's reserve unit was also a big factor, as they had 48 points from their bench, as opposed to the Bulls' 28.

"Their energy was just a notch above ours" said Bulls head coach Vinny Del Negro "We need to play harder in order to win games, our effort was not there tonight"

Oh yeah, that's what I'm talking about! See my block on Hinrich. Don't forget that I shut down Rose. Damn right.

50 was too easy so I had to get a double double in my debut.

NOTE TO READERS: Bad news unfortunately, my computer has crashed and i can't get it to run. Taking it to repairs tomorrow and possibly it would not be able to be restored....I have a backup copy in my data drive on the PC but it is from way back (playoffs of last season if i remember correctly) so either that whole section would have to be "turned back in time" or i might have to end this all together....

Hopefully that wont be the case and i could resume with no problems. But my hopes are not high cause it's a problem that even i cannot fix myself (usually i take care of stuff like that in a matter of minutes)

Fingers Crossed?
