Re: X's T'wolves Association (NBA 2K11) - TRADE (8-34)

I hate Starbury, but he could be fun in a video game. Since you did not like Ridnour, I think the trade is a good idea.

Glad that Marbury is back with the team that he first played for. :)

Nice trade! Marbury had the potential to go down as one of the great point guards. Too bad his career turned out like it. Great numbers but poor team performance.

Love the deal. Not for Marbs, but for Jordan Hill and the cap savings. (Y) Shockingly, the playoffs look a bit unlikely at this point.

I just hope you draft someone next year who can score 20 ppg and can help your team out. Can't wait for Rubio and see how he plays.

Be interesting to see how well he performs for you :)

Yep, I thought it would be a popular move. The timing was right to give Marbury one last chance with his former team. Let's just say, he looks great in his old number 3 in the Minnesota jersey. He should never have left.

And to all those wondering, I used 2k11's trade finder as I wanted to get rid of Ridnour & one of the stiffs (Koufos being the preferred stiff). Most deals I got offered were wanting me to give up my 1st Round pick to get a better player. Interestingly enough I could've got the Bobcats' 2011 1st Round pick (likely early 20's) & Diaw's $9 mill per year contract (with one year to run), but I liked the chance to get cap savings, to take a chance on Hill & to have a (hopefully) happy return for Starbury. For Houston, Ridnour will be a great backup for Brooks, & they didn't need Hill. They have David Lee as their starter & Scola as the 6th man backup. Took me the best part of an hour to find the right deal that worked for both teams.

Yep, I gave Ridnour every chance but his shot release was just too hard to work out & consistently master. I wasn't a fan of his contract either, especially if Rubio does elect to come over next season.

As for Starbury, I'm not a fan of his IRL, but I think he can help my team win ball games. I don't think Jonny Flynn is good enough to be a full-time starting PG. Hopefully Starbury will push him.

Lamrock wrote:Love the deal. Not for Marbs, but for Jordan Hill and the cap savings. (Y) Shockingly, the playoffs look a bit unlikely at this point.

Yep, you have seen the light. This deal was about cap savings first, secondly about taking a flyer on Jordan Hill. Marbury just so happened to be the right fit contract wise (1 year, $2 mill with a team option for another year at $2m) & there is some sentimentality of him returning to where he started.

I don't know if that will happen. Interestingly enough after seeing Beas Knees kicking ass IRL, I'm making a concerted effort to run the offense through him & he got me 25 points last game (in a loss to the Thunder, some things will never change  ).

I was gonna put up a Pic of the Day for game against OKC last night but Playstation Network was down.

Probably won't be much in the way of updates this coming week since it will be chaos at work. However, I plan to plod away at this & continue it.

Seems like you have more trust in Beasley now that he's rockin it IRL.

About Flynn, I think his jumper is just way too shaky and I don't like that. It limits his game quite a lot. He's a beast at driving to the rim though.

Flynn is really good at driving to the rim, his jumper is really inconsistent though , nice association you have going here Lamrock

I think the thing with Beasley is he is very streaky in the game. I had a short leash on him earlier on in the season. He was actually 3/11 in the first half for 8 points & normally I'd do my best Larry Brown impression & send him to the bench but I let him play through it & he really started to find his niche in the 2nd half. That's the great thing about 2k11, you've got to learn how to use players & play to their strengths. For the first half of the season I was trying to run it through Love but I just don't think he can be the team's go-to-guy. Beasley, whilst he might frustrate me at times, has ability to get it done. I don't think you're ever going to have a good team with Beas better your best player, but I may be wrong.

Yep, Flynn is likely the team's starter as soon as he's fully healthy which should be within a game or two, unless Marbury goes berserk, which I can't see happening. But yes, his jumper is shaky but I was getting better with him before he got injured.

 Gold

Yep, I think Lamrock can take this Association one straight to the Hall of Fame if he plays his cards right

Might not be a bad idea to have writing crossovers for all the association story tellers here.

The X's Wolves plays against the Blazers. The X sends all stats or highlight pics to Lamrock and he writes the summary for that game, giving his own POV instead of the X's.
Same can be done with Lamrock's Blazers going against the Wolves in his thread.

Not hoping to be a regular thing though. More like if those involved feel like doing it.

Actually that's a really interesting proposal, would love to see it happen (conflicting perspectives! any HSC students around here? )

Could definitely be done, if there were mirror Associations going (same length season & running same rosters). I'm guessing PC platform would be best to run it.

Season length and rosters do not even have to be the same.
The idea is mainly on the perspective of that particular writer as a fan of that team on creating the game summary/article.
Kinda like a 'guest writer' thing and not a parallel association story.

That's a little of what I've tried to implement with my asking people to contribute in my story. (Y)

Not to the extent of writing recaps though but in a more general sense.

It's a cool idea, but you can only do it when your D is already going for a long time and guys know what they can post & what fits into it or not. (even then it does not always work ...

Nice idea that it may be, it's a bit off topic to be discussing Sit's Association (as good as it may be) in here.

So anybody think I can match real life Darko's mammoth game the other day? Will be a huge task, might try to do it one game if he gets going early :P

Get Darko 80. Nuff said.

Back-to-back 20 point nights IRL, I knew they had him underrated. I might try to score big with him next few days. I'm at a point in season where I know we suck so mini challenges make it easier. Back-to-back 20-10's for Darko would be a nice challenge

He could actually still lead my team in scoring given that Corey Brewer leads team with about 13ppg
