2k11 AI

Fri Nov 19, 2010 6:03 pm

This is my first post here but it's a long one, so please try and bear with me. Before I get into it I'm going to say that I've switched back to all-star difficulty from hall of fame and went back to default sliders because FG% seems to always be in the 30's on the simulation setting.I'm pretty sure everyone else has noticed this but I'm going to rant about it anyway. My player mode is still as frustrating as ever with your teammates AI being on the level of a 12 year old playing basketball for the first time. The opposing team's AI is still much better than your own teammates making it almost impossible to win close games in the 4th without you having to completely take over and make every shot to win. I feel like my teammates have horrible shot selection and never seem to effectively drive to the basket for an easy layup or a dunk. The opposing team's AI however can do all of these things pretty easily whenever they decide to it seems. If I'm not there to kill their drive it's pretty much a guaranteed easy dunk or layup because my teammates refuse to play simple defense. I've also noticed they hardly even try to contest shots or make contact with the driving player pretty much allowing them to score at will. This usually results in Kevin Durant scoring like 48 points every single game that we play him and he takes 25+ shots. He's a great player in game no doubt but 35+ points in every appearance he makes against us? Highly unlikely if you ask me. My post players almost never convert with great post position, my teammates seem to not understand how to use pick & rolls(my power forward literally runs himself out to the wing after he sets the pick), they never seem to hit open shots when i throw them the ball out of a drive, and rebounding usually is atrocious because they often just stand completely still instead of trying to at least jump for it. The opposing team's AI also gets LOTS of fouls called in their way I've noticed. Myself and my teammates can get hacked to the floor and no foul is called but often if we even contest the shot on the other end it's an automatic foul(THEY ARE ALSO AND-ONES 90% OF THE TIME). I myself don't have an issue scoring though. I've been able to figure out this game's passing and lower my turnovers by a lot but the AI still makes superman deflections with their back turned in .0001 seconds of me passing the ball. The only thing I can't seem to do well is rebound. It usually gets sucked out of my hands into another player's hands (usually the guy that I'm guarding) resulting in an easy basket. I have a decent rebound rating and should at least average 5-6 rebounds a game. ALSO, 2K had said something about improving the trade logic but I noticed the Suns traded Steve Nash to Denver for nobody significant I believe(lol). So that doesn't seem to be fixed either.

TLDR; AI still cheats like a mother****** while your teammates are the dumbest things on god's given earth, and it seems a whole lot worse than it was in 2K10. I could at least get on pretty decent win streaks in 2K10. I've only won back to back games so far in 2K11 however.

Paragraphs would make it easier to bear with your future thoughts.

No problem, I agree with many of your critiques. Jordan seemed to make people overlook a lot of the flaws still hanging around in the series.

Nice avatar choice.
