Applying mods?

Wed Oct 06, 2010 10:39 pm

Im new to this applying mods thing and need a quick crash course.

Lets say I wanted to add D-Wades shoes(an iff file) would I just simply copy-paste it to the main 2k11 folder where all the other .iff files are? Or do I need an editor because Wade is locked into Jordan brand shoes.

I don't know about the Jordan brand (what you mean) but yeah, basicly how you describe it applies to a lot of the things you can expect.

Faces, jerseys, shoes, arenas, floors, they're all files that can be replaced in your main map. Rosters in saves map.
(I don't have 2k11 yet but I'm assuming it's the same thing as 2k10)

There may be more complicated mods from time to time but if it's out of the ordinary you can expect the patcher to instruct how to get it working in-game.

Which is weird because when I dropped the new file in...it didn't ask me to replace.

not necessarily. it means it doesn't replace another shoe, but just adds one. You'll have to edit somewhere else to get it to show up then though I guess. Like in the roster.

Well when I go to Wade specifically, his shoe options are faded out and locked into JORDAN brand only. So I couldn't get to the shoe anyway. See what I mean? How would I unlock Wade's shoe options.

Where did you get the shoe anyway.. If somebody made it, didn't he instruct how to apply it in-game?

Also possible that it's not yet usable. Roster editor isn't out yet, for example.

I got it from Moddingway...Not sure we're allowed to link to it but: http://downloads.moddingway.com/file/2811.html

And no instructions came with it. Just the .iff file.

It's for 2k10. I know the shoe files are compatible but you'd have to A) rename the file to the shoes Wade has now, or B) edit in the roster file.

Basicly both require the roster file. You'll have to be patient unless somebody knows Wade's shoe file, or until the roster editor is out.
