Talk about NBA 2K11 here.

Here's Ronnie2K playing.
Game is simulation, all-star, 6 min quarters.

thanks!
So I'm starting to see some aspects of NBA Live 10 that I didn't like show up in 2k. Mainly I think most of the animations I saw looked great.......just the context of where I'm seeing the animations dont work. Martin doing an off-ball spin while in the backcourt with the PG is an example of that. Also some of the dribbling animations looked weird when transitioning. And the 2 player canned animation near the beginning of the video looked terrible.
For simulation I thought VC got to the rim too often....I wish he's play like that nowadays. Also it looked like Ronnie was doing a little wiggle wiggle pray to break some ankles and pump faking a lot too....that's some NBA Live 2003 tactics IMO. Sounds like Elite might surpass 2k11 by a HUGE margin with the new dribbling scheme.
LOVED the under the hoop pump fakes and the VC dunk that had that gather dribble. And Whoa....no more cheerleaders at courtside, they run out from the back now
It's def worth my $30 for the PC version....but if I were stuck with console games for now on and had to choose between 2k10 PC and what I just saw...I'd pass.

Nice vid

So they replaced Cheryl Miller. When will they replace Clark Kellogg?!?
0:15 - like in 2K10, dunks where the hands don't touch the rim and just release the ball are still in 2K11.
1:05 - I'm not really critical of animations but that really sucked.
Quick sub window is still the same. Got confused in another vid and thought it changed. It's just the presentation. Eh.

I don't know man, Defense looks hard in this game lol. 2k needs that crowd atmosphere, it sounds amazing but it doesn't fit whats happening on the court, and custom dribbling. It does look improved. This video doesn't make me wanna buy this game. Should have played with Michael Jordan!!!

I agree, the crowd is one of the features this game needs to improve to avoid getting bored in the future. Being able to beat the hell out of Hall of Fame difficulty every game by a large margin makes the game boring overtime.

I'd like to see appropriate crowd animations during certain situations too.
Not to forget, I want 2K to at least add a confetti during the Championship celebration to add to the excitement.

P.S. : And I really do believe that it's the job of the great patchers out there to improve the environment of the game.

in the video Vince was hyping up the crowd, and it was silent LOL. . .teams off to a good start in the NBA always have their crowds Roaring

their names on the back of their jersey looks bigger now..

It looks bettwr than the other videos, at least. We finally have somebody who knows a bit about the game playing it.
I agree with shadow on that animation at 15 seconds. It's not horrible as it is but the context looks like it should have happened with more momentum, and it snapped into the 2-man animation quite badly.
I like the small touch added during the substitution where Howard talks to the players coming in off the bench.
Presentation looks good. The commentators seem to go on a bit with their conversation which is white nice unless it happens all the time or during the wrong game situation.
Nice lead pass to Vince Carter showing off how they improved the passing they wrote about in the passing insights blog.
Awkward wrap around bounce pass into the post by Jameer Nelson.

Whilst better than other videos that we have seen, I'm just very underwhelmed the more I see. Looking like a tough predicament. I know a couple of my mates will want to pick up the game since it's got MJ & some classic teams in it so we can play online, just over it I guess.
Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:50 pm
Yeah, I think I'll stick with 2K10 for another year. Love the presentation, but it seems to be the only thing they bothered to improve.
Wed Aug 25, 2010 10:42 pm
The passes looked quite horrible.
I've been with 2k9, I still think I'll get this because I need to play a new game, if it's bad, I'll go back to 2k9 with updated rosters.

Nice to see the simulation gamestyle in addition to the casual gamestyle we've seen on display in the other videos. I like it better but I again thought the collisions were a bit ordinary (not that NBA Elite 11's have looked perfect, but I reckon they'll have the edge in that department with the real-time physics). It might be a bit of a nitpick but I thought those scores were a little high for five minute quarters and as Jon said, Carter was getting to the rim a bit too easily. I'd also agree that some of the passes left something to be desired but overall I'd still say far from terrible.
The presentation is outstanding but it'll be interesting to see how the anecdotes are handled; hopefully they have some different ones and enough of them so they don't get boring and repetitive. I liked the way they broke from the game to talk about Carmelo Anthony as that's certainly realistic, but not if they have that conversation every game. That would get very tiresome while playing an Association with the Nuggets and the same goes for other player anecdotes.

Even better was discussing Dwight Howard, being interrupted by a timeout, and then returning to the conversation about Howard.

I'm going to buy the game no matter what, I'm just not a fan of "Yearly" roster updates. I'm satisfied with everything pretty much, I enjoy realistic games but I'm not that much of a nitpicker as some of you guys. NO OFFENSE!
Me personally, I don't like how the jersey models are. I think the graphics on the players are better than last year but the ball is extra shiny and the players jerseys are raised up. Just look at the height from last year, to this year.... Steve Urkel anyone!
Thu Aug 26, 2010 3:54 am
Yeah, I'm not impressed. It looks glazed and like JaoSming said, the dribbling looks stiff and odd. Doesn't look fluid and realistic. Not impressed, which is really sad because I thought 2k10 destroyed anything that LIVE had done in years. I guess we'll see, but not happy with these first impressions... looks too much like LIVE--and that's NOT a good thing.
Thu Aug 26, 2010 4:04 am
The jumpshots look smoother and very realistic. I also like the new jab step. I'd have loved to see a pro hop move to the basket. Presentation is good as always although I don't like the crowd too much. Apart from that it's tough to really see any improvements in the vid. Still Ima buy it for sure. I don't have 2k10 anymore and don't want to try out Elite. 2k11 will be good, the question is, can it be awesome?

Not much of a nitpicker, right...

Ditto. Good that others also noticed that.
That ball, as if someone waxed it to shiny perfection and yet the players can still handle it properly.

I also noticed that the home team are now wearing white accessories (or is it custom white?). I hope 2K worked on that too to make it right this time around.

I think player movement with ball is more realistic than Elite some moves look stiff but that's because of heavie player model...Elite player model is more like plastic that's why they dribble moves look better but ball handling is way to fast because I play basketball myself for 12 years and I know what I'm talking about. Other thing you mentioned is way to much pumpfakes again not agree with you...in real live basketball game you will see pumpfakes about 20 times per game because everyone will try to set up their teammate for wide open shot that's why I'm glad to see this improvement this year..now players can draw more shooting fouls. My overall for game right know B-

What makes you think that some members here didn't play basketball as long as you did?

Someone find
Indy and get his very important undeniable opinion about the game since he used to play for Butler and
was friends with Monta Ellis! That's basketball pedigree right there.

whatever man!

I said what I have to say about 2k11.

Man, doesn't matter if Elite players look like plastic, it's all about the overall movement and animation, with all the total control moves, I'm sure the game will feel and look realistic. There hasn't been any Elite videos showing actual gameplay 5v5 footage, so you cant really state anything. I've played FIFA WOrld Cup And NHL 11 Demo, and Elite is running off those engine pretty much so. . If Elite plays like those games (which they are pretty much are) and they pull it off, the gameplay alone will be amazing. Download the NHL 11 demo and see for yourself. The collisions and body checks in that game are VERY REALISTIC. Bout to go play some right now LOL

To be honest....I wasn't impressed at all.
Again I'm used to Backbreaker's standard and I did notice the physics....just, I wasnt impressed by it.
Fri Aug 27, 2010 9:06 am
I'm not impressed at all. The game looks like an NBA 2k10.5 . They have just improved some aspects of the gameplay. But there're still a lot of unrealistic sequences. Look at how pietrus passes the ball to Rashard Lewis and how Lewis gives it back to Pietrus. That's poor animation. I want to feel the weight of the ball. the ball looks too shiny for me. The good point is the jumpshot physics it looks more realistic than on 2k10. However I think i'll buy this game because of its price, 40€ in France for the PC version. If I were on console, i wouldn't buy it. this 2K11 doesn't deserve 60€ at all.
