Talk about NBA 2K11 here.

Wishlist

Postby Daniel24 on Fri Apr 30, 2010 7:41 am

Ok I know this topic has been raised in the 2K10 section, but I deem it necessary to be placed here.

Some improvements I want to see:

- The playoffs crowds suck, play a game in OKC and you will see what I am saying.

- PLEASE, player introductions.. at least for the playoffs, and maybe like you can in WWE games for an entrance, be able to upload your own music for your teams introductions

- My player mode bugs need to be fixed, I got stuck in the off season and could not progress it is so annoying (happened twice)

- The arena's all look the same, this needs major attention this year (all the arena's look the same, they don't have a 'culture' feel)

- Live did it last year, and this year it 2k should put some attention in to their shoes (just something small, but true hoopers will appreciate it)

- I would also like to regain confidence to turn CPU trades back on (I haven't done so for 3 years). I would love to see just a couple of trades here or there that are realistic, in contrast to the current 2k where if you turn CPU trades on, you will never keep up with it all.
Impossible is Nothing.

They need to bring in:

Starting line ups for playoffs
Better plays (Like live, having original team plays is important for me)
Changes between season, playoffs and finals the only changes I experienced were the courts no atmosphere change
Finally it needs to be easier to make moves I find it a lot better on Live to do moves maybe the analog shooting stick needs to go and use it for moves?

Because copying old versions of live exactly is a good idea? Also, do you see real nba players just making constant crossovers till they get to the rim? I don't

As for the wishing for fights: this will never happen in a video game outside of hockey. Fights are not encouraged and are considered a breach of contract and something "horrid" for the sport. Stop wishing for it. It'll never happen.

I've never really understood the keen enthusiasm for the inclusion of fights in NBA Live or NBA 2K. Regardless of where you stand on fights as far as them being exciting or a black eye on the sport, full blown punch-ups rarely happen anyway so they're not really a part of the sport as they seem to be with hockey so it's not that vital that they're included.

My Player mode : The inury of my player should be applied.
: When my player reaches to the nba, it should have a realistic playing time.
: the CPU plays should be more realistic.
: It can select if he wanted to be traded or not. something like that.
Quick game mode: It should have a fighting scene to be more real.
: The buzzer beater celebration should be more realistic.
: playoffs games should be more energetic crowds and players.
: Player should have greater post move. and Signature shot.
Others : will it be possible if in my player mode is like the NBA The Inside style of story. or something like that.
: Any player should elevate in a game. (but not always)
: More clutch drive realistic moves.
: more possible blocks. like lebron james block from behind.
: the defense should be more strong. like man to man defense.

Thanks.

I posted this on Operation Sports and will post this on the 2K Forums later as the site is performing maintenance.

I realize only an X amount can fit on a disk. This is why in order to add new things to the game, some things must be removed. Everything stated here is playing against the CPU unless stated otherwise.

Gameplay:

-Continue to improve court spacing to make the game more realistic. Court should be bigger and players a bit smaller.

-Realistic movement. In 2K10, speed going from North-South and East-West is the same. Running around defender is same speed as going straight at defender. In real life you go slower trying to go around defender as opposed to right at him. For video evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaPhp0bESng

-Get rid of all sliding animations that occur and make you lose control of your player.

-Get rid of all steal animations that make you lose control of your player. Steal button should simply be trying to swipe/deflect the ball. All these crazy animations are effective because they slow down the offensive player and fouls aren’t called enough.

Cheesers will be forced to play defense without relying on spamming the steal button. Removing these animations will allow space to include different animations to the game.

-Baseline is too powerful. Seems to be a force field allowing offensive player to drive at will. More contact animations need to play out. Baseline in real life is a risky area as you can step out of bounds.

-After a made basket, why is SG always next to PG when inbounding? Has been implemented since very first NBA 2K game.

Only time SG should be next to PG is when opposing team uses full court press. Otherwise SG should be with the rest of the guys while PG dribbles ball up court.

-When playing online and cheeser is trying to constantly go baseline, one of these things should occur:

1.Loses the ball. 2. Carries/palms/double dribble 3. Gets called for offensive foul 4. Defender steals ball 5. Steps out of bounds 6. Travels. 7. Others which would be rare is defender gets called for a foul or offensive player succeeds and gets to the basket.

-Add an animation where you can take a foul. Ex. if a big man looks like he will get an easy basket or on a fastbreak, you press a button that will commit a foul. Currently, no clear-cut way to commit a foul when you want to (Not talking about intentional fouls).

-When playing CPU and you are jumping all over the place on defense or bite on a pump fake, CPU needs to utilize move in which offensive player leans into defender to draw foul. CPU almost never uses this.

-CPU needs to utilize 2 hands up animation especially when shot clock is winding down and are about to attempt a perimeter jumpshot. CPU never uses Intense D. Whatever next year might be or called, CPU should use it at times.

-Post moves needs to be faster. Post speed between 2K9’s and 2K10’s would be perfect for 2K11.

-Not all players should be able to perform shimmy moves or other jukes in the post. Kevin Garnett fine but Ben Wallace?

-Every player needs to have own signature Jumpshot. No two players should have same form. Only exception: When 2K creates a player during season(ex. Wesley Matthews).

Over 500+ realistic sig shots to choose, will make MyPlayer more customizable and created players during season will have a shot most similar to him. Not the generic fake/slow looking jumpshots.

-Get rid of all generic jumpshots. Most of them are slow and doesn’t look realistic at all.

-Every player needs to have own Free Throw Routine. Get rid of all generic Free Throws. 80% of players have same routine(JJ Redick routine) and is too easy to make. When created players are added, (Wesley Matthews) will be 500+ signature Free Throw Routines to choose.

-2K should look at all sig jumpshots/free throws. Ex. Kyle Korver/Jason Terry’s too slow while Derrick Rose’s too quick. 2K9 had Korver’s done well. For Free Throws Rasheed Wallace/Paul Pierce and others release too quick while others too slow ex. Paul Millsap.

-One hookshot animation goes in 80% of the time. Paul Millsap and Robin Lopez uses this in game as well as others. Get rid of it or tone down completion percentage.

-CPU defense shouldn’t play tight all the time. Certain players they should sag off. One reason why it is easy to go by CPU.

-Momentum jumpshots should be added. If on a fastbreak and catch the ball and shoot, wouldn’t shoot straight up but instead leaning towards basket.

-Jumpshots should look different depending on how long you hold button. Will make users not easily remember exact timing as it looks different depending on how long you hold it.

-Fix lead passing as well as off-ball defense. For more detail: http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262981

-Fix defensive rotations such as pick-and-roll defense. Add help the helper on defense.

-Perhaps can can be implemented or new engine (about time for new engine for NBA 2K series no? Or would it have to be next gen consoles?) would be needed but players need to make contact.

By contact, is if a defender jumps and comes down slapping offensive players hand or arm, an animation of this should occur. Currently does not exist.

-Force field between crowd should be removed. When diving for a ball go into stands and stuff. Would be cool.

-Carrying/Palming/Double-Dribble all should be added.

-Off-ball fouls and more type of fouls need to be added. Ex. moving screens/tripping/off the ball fouls/pushing foul.

Only away from ball foul in 2K10 is Loose-Ball foul. More fouls=more realistic game. Currently not enough fouls are called.

-Boxing out animation need to be varied. PG shouldn’t be able to box out PF effectively as PF boxing out PF. When wanting to get back on defense, shouldn't be stuck at box out animation until it finishes.

-Double teams need work. Takes too long to get back to your man. Should be a way to perform soft double team or hard double team with hard double team risking higher possibility of committing foul.

-In 2K10 shooting ball coming off screen, offensive player goes back 2-3 feet. Should jump straight up for most part.

I don’t know how many times I would come off a screen thinking I would take 3 pointer right at the line only to be shooting 3 feet behind the line. CPU suffers from this shooting too far back. Needs to be fixed or removed.

-CPU doesn’t commit enough fouls on drives. Too easy to go to basket and dunk on the whole team. In 2K9, CPU dished out some hard fouls. 2K10 almost never occurs.

-There is this semi-glitch on defense. What happens is say I’m the PG with the ball and I go near to my SG. I pass it to my SG and player defending PG will freeze and stay next to SG for 1-2 secs allowing PG an open shot. Can take advantage of this almost every time.

-Certain runners avoids contact almost all the time (Deron Williams’ runner) while others get blocked often ex. Rajon Rondo.

-CPU recovers too quickly on defense and on higher difficulties runs unrealistically fast on a fast break.

-If on fire offensively as a team against CPU, CPU at times should mix it up with some Zone. Currently CPU only uses Zone when you have 5 guys out that are bad outside shooters.

-If a specific player is hot, CPU should try other defenders. Ex. Kobe is lighting up Jason Richardson, CPU should try Grant Hill and see if that can cool Kobe down.

-Fix bugs and glitches before game release. Ex. Big Men shooting 3’s in Association/MyPlayer and CPU getting backcourt violation when calling a timeout after advancing past half court line. Unlimited timeouts in MyPlayer mode.

-MyPlayer not getting any energy back after timeout. Only way is when you are on the bench. Try calling 10 timeouts in a row. If your MyPlayer has Gatorade icon, he will continue to have Gatorade icon.

Also being subbed in and out after every dead ball especially in 4th quarter.

More ideas:

-Referees needs whistles and actually use them.

-When CPU wants to make substitutions, want to see them at scorers table. Coaches also sub right when dead ball occurs; should be way for human player to sub. In NBA, coaches make adjustments depending on who goes on court.

-After being subbed should be drinking Gatorade/using towels/putting back warmpups/etc. After halftime everyone on bench should wear warmups again. When subbed some put towel above heads(KG) or between thighs. Some do both.

-When Full timeout is called players on court should sit on bench drinking Gatorade/using towels/etc. When 20 Sec is called, players on court standing and huddling around coach getting sip of Gatorade or using towels depending on how long they played.

-When game is blowout, CPU should bring scrubs. Currently in 2K10 but after some time bring in starters back again. Reason is Ex. I was down 23 at start of 4th. CPU brings scrubs. I cut lead to 17 with 7 mins remaining. CPU thinks somehow I will come back and win and put back starters.

In real life only bring back starters when lead goes to 6-7 points with 5 mins remaining. In 2K10, CPU keep shuffling back and forth scrubs and starters depending on point differential which is too small of a margin.

-CPU should bring in scrubs when down by 15-20 points as well. CPU only bring in scrubs when winning.

-CPU in 4th quarter with less than 6 minutes remaining always puts 5 players on floor that have most minutes in rotation menu(in Options-Roster-Rotation). Shouldn't always be this way. If certain player is doing well, CPU should leave him in at end of games.

-When an injury occurs why does everyone/everything stop? In real life when an injury occurs and no dead ball play keeps going unless injured players team calls timeout or intentional fouls other team to stop play.

-Passing into post is too slow. Some are incredibly slow lob pass that almost always gets tipped and stolen. Yet the lead pass is a bullet... i.e. incredible speed and accuracy

-Get rid of autopost. Good idea but the execution is flawed. Ex. many times I want to post but instead do crazy dribbling moves and never can post. Same goes with CPU.

It happens to CPU because defender is too far away from initiating autopost. Instead CPU runs around like crazy while carrying ball all over and never get to post. Also when I'm a wing player and want to drive, initiates autopost. Hate that.

-In general players still move too fast. Especially when using turbo.

-Some shots from within 10-15 feet are unrealistic looking. These are ones where you shoot from your back with one hand or crazy looking hookshot. Get rid of it.

-Goaltending needs to be fixed.

-Showing replays after every dead ball is annoying. Realize pressing button can skip it but rather they should show replays only after timeout.

-PG's are too good at dunking and dunk too often. Especially in half-court dunking over entire defense. Ex. Deron Williams/Rajon Rondo/Baron Davis/Derrick Rose.

-Using 240 minutes for rotations is nice but why not seperate it in categories:
PG-48 mins
SG-48 mins
SF-48 mins
PF-48 mins
C- 48 mins

This will cut down on some of the crazy lineups coaches put on the floor at times. At one time Tim Duncan was playing SG in a Quick Game!!

what happen if you left your PG alone? then go to youtube and search for "KOBE lockdown defense WADE" see what happen to wade... he got no teammate around to pass the ball, and his pride when up and take the ball alone instead of calling for help... kobe defense was very tight...

thats why you will always need some secondary dribblers ready to backup your PG...

- give more talks about my player from the pre season to post season, commentator seems to forget all your hardwork even if you get 10 straight triple doubles they dont care... show some love, thats my its call "my player" because you are the damn hero of your game, your are the story... why talk more about brook lopez, lebron or rose from highschool something like that give more love to my player.

- again crowd.. population increase if you are winning and if your losing straight they become bored and numbers getting low... add also some playoffs hype.

- dunks give me more dunks... the speciality dunks sucks, hopefully we could add those other dunks that lebron, wade, garnett can use... some custom dunk package...

- game winning animation... make it cool, something real... i just hit some game winner but most of the players dont CARE i mean they dont care.... man... we need some high five, high banging, some poke in the head some prayers, and crowd goes hell yeah... come on 2k

- get go to Alley hops dunks...Ever boring Tim Duncan just throw it down like he's lebron james... unrealistic... Alley hops dunks and Put Back animation should also be based on dunk rating the better dunk the better animation... come on 2k you can do more than that.

- pre-game ritual for my player please enable it please.. hopefully my player can choose his pre-game ritual...

- cheerleaders pls make them hot like the real game or the cowgirls on dallas stadium like that :P, i mean the all wear the same costume... strap and long legging... crap.. minor voilation? man even kids watch cheerleader sat dallas stadium. what wrong with it?

- finally.. skill limits... like CENTER 7'5 with 99 speed and 99 quickness, ok... thats an ANDROID not a human... centers tend to stay inside the paint so they dont need that much speed... they are not PG who always run or SF who sprint for a dunk... they just stay there... hopefully we could get some limitation. even though they are very athletic they still need some restriction.

rosebulls, most of your wishlist can be done by slider like more fouls... i dont know if you know how to get foul anyway... my "my player" average i think around 7 draw fouls a game.. i think its fine.. i even manage to get 12 draw fouls. you get more draw foul when the game is tight like 90 / 90 in 4th quarter

Down with that. They need to change the turbo button. I mean a player like Chris Paul is almost unstoppable in the open court. His acceleration should cause him to get a quick 1-2 metres lead against bigger guys while sprinting. It still feels like there is no real turbo in the game because turbo for me means, going to the basket 100%.

-Get rid of all steal animations that make you lose control of your player. Steal button should simply be trying to swipe/deflect the ball. All these crazy animations are effective because they slow down the offensive player and fouls aren’t called enough.

Also second that. They should really give you a chance to hit the ball while your opponent is dribbling it instead of those silly animations. That leads me to my former point. Maybe you can increase the chance of loosing the ball when you use the turbo button.

-Baseline is too powerful. Seems to be a force field allowing offensive player to drive at will. More contact animations need to play out. Baseline in real life is a risky area as you can step out of bounds.

Good point, that would also help to increase the non steal turnovers. Up and unders could also be a bit more difficult as it seems like most players can perform them very well.

-Add an animation where you can take a foul. Ex. if a big man looks like he will get an easy basket or on a fastbreak, you press a button that will commit a foul. Currently, no clear-cut way to commit a foul when you want to (Not talking about intentional fouls).

Good idea, and in my opinion they should finally add flagrant fouls. I know the NBA does not want the whole stuff which is not sportsmanlike but flagrants would really add some depth to the game. Just a button for a hard foul which gives you a flagrant when you push it too late (for example while the offensive player is in the air). Players would get thrown out of the game and that would make the game more realistic.

-CPU needs to utilize 2 hands up animation especially when shot clock is winding down and are about to attempt a perimeter jumpshot. CPU never uses Intense D. Whatever next year might be or called, CPU should use it at times.

Imho there just need to be more options on how to defend a guy. We should be able to take our hands up or just spread them to make it harder to pass. There is only one hands up animation we can do. Give us more options.

That's maybe too much work, I think they do a pretty good job with their animations.

What is really important, they need to get back the old jumpshots where you could see when you released the ball too late. They really took away the whole timing thing making it a bit of a gamble. We need that back because it was way more fun and easier to learn those releases in 2k8 and 2k9.

I wanna see some changes on the commentary portion of the game.

they should replace Clark Kellogg with mark jackson or Van gundy.. or GREEN.

they should also remove the comment whenever a guy dunks with a low dunk rating talking about the slam dunk contest and sh*t.

I have played and watched basketball for almost my entire life.

Did you read what I wrote?

In real life and NBA the only time you need a backup ball handler is when the defense is playing Full Court Press or when the PG seems to have trouble bringing the ball up court(this is very rare mind you). Otherwise after a made basket the SG should be with the rest of the guys while the PG dribbles up court.

No most of them cannot be done with sliders. Only some. I play 12 min quarters and it will be rare when either team shoots more than 10+FTs(not counting intentional fouls towards end of games).

Clark Kellogg is annoying as f*ck especially the "freaking out" wohooohuhuhu comment when a guy makes a highlight dunk.
but please no mark jackson i don't want comments in the game like "kobe will go down as the greatest player that ever
played the game" hahaha

also i hope they change some small things when it comes to the file structure to make it easier to patch the game,
this is my main concern actually.

Yeah Kellog is really bad, but it's not his fault I guess. His voice is okay, his lines just suck. They need to add even more line if they want to make it a realistic experience.

It would be really cool if they add three commentators instead of 2 I mean, you see this in the NBA, mostly on all star weekend.
Here are commentators I want in the game Kenny Smith for sure (knows and has a lot of knowledge about Basketball), I think ESPN and TNT Commentators like Charles Barkley and Steve Van Gundy. Those are 3 commentator examples that I want in the game. I think this is too much to ask for but if you could put in the real life PA announcers its optional, but that would be cool. Couple things that needs to tone down on gameplay is dunks and alleyoops. Couple of things that needs to be increase is CPU's defense. Also intros/presentation should be way better and mean I want to see both teams coming out of the entrance and the pa announcers says both team names and start shooting around, I also want to select different players to shoot around and different warmup drills like u did in College Hoops also want the starting lineup for both teams like u did for the old 2k1 but make it better. Doesn't everyone agree?
