Re: Your Player (2K11 Edition)

I'm 6'3'' Slashing SG. Draftet at 29 by Orlando. Played 10 Games so far. OVR of 56.
Averaging about 24 PPG, around 2 RBG and APG and an average rating of A-. I'm getting around 18 to 20 Minutes in 7min quarters and will get Carters Starting Spot at SG soon. I also played PG, SF and even PF so far which was horrible... Redick played Center at that time^^

I'm making my Points through Fastbreak Dunks (Miss by CPU -> Rebound Howard -> Quick Outlet Pass -> BOOOM) but my Midrange Shot and my drive to the hoop is not that bad too.

Will see if I get ROY. According to my Numbers I'm the best Rookie in the league but you don't know what 2k thinks, whos the best rookie...

Axel Gomez- 6"3" all-around PG.

Did turrible in the draft combine, averaging 10 and 10, with an average teammate grade of C-. (N) Got drafted 42nd overall by the Miami Heat, so far we're 4-0. First games against the Celtics and the 76ers were easy, but we had to come back from double-digit deficits against the Magic and the Nets. I blocked the crap out of VC!!! :D

Don't know how we came back against the Nets, Brook Lopez aleady had 15 and 8 in the first quarter! Anyways, Udonis Haslem is injured, and I'm glad I'm with the Heat, playing with the Big 3 has really helped me towards 4 APG in about 14 MPG (I think). Love this mode, can't wait to see how we'll finish the season.

Some of you guy "My Player" stat is pretty rediculous for a Rookie. I wonder, did you guys cheat to get your rating up or play on All-Star mode??

I ask because I'm an experienced player, playing on HoF mode with a rating of 47, and my stat is around 6ppg, 9.3rpg, 1.2apg, and 0.8bpg shooting 43% on 12mins Sim.

Anyway, I'm a 6'11 285lbs PF/C. Got draft by Orlando with the 28th pick. Played backup minutes, and then increased to 20min per game. Doesn't want to share the spotlight with Dwight Howard, so ask to be trade to the Pistons in hope of being a starter and franchise player. Still a bench player but racking up 28min per game. Currently on a 10 games losing streak with an average margin of 20+pts blowout.. :(

This recent game against the Mavericks had my player (with the Heat, now a starting SG since Wade is injured) on a shooting slump. I'm 6/19 in the field yet scoring 17. The Mavs took the lead 71-70 after a free throw from Kidd, the Heat called a timeout with 0.8 seconds left. Ilgauskas inbounds the ball with my player being guarded by JJ Barea (I think) and just took a quick release shot and it got in.

A+ game overall. 19 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist.

Will post that play later on.

My player is a 6'2" all round PG from Duke. So far I have blitzed the draft combine and got drafted early 2nd round (after being projected 29th pick) to who else but.... the Heat. What a lucky draft day it was for me. I impressed the coaching staff and straight away became the 2nd string pg off the bench to rest d-wade. So far i am averaging around 16mins (8min qtrs) with 6 points, 4 ast and 3 rebs a game. It seems as though only 4 games in to the season I have been promoted to 6th man. My player is a 43 overall rating.

We (the Heat) are undefeated after 4 games and are looking impressive.

Will keep you all updated!

lmao That's awesome. My My Player dude (named Rick Daniel) is so similar it's eerie! :D He's a remake of my guy from last year, and he too is a 6'2" all-around PG, but he's from Akron. He sucked in the combine though, getting picked 11th in the second round by the Heat. We won most of our first games, too. I averaged worse, though, about 5 points and less then then two assists and rebounds per through the first few weeks. Over a month into his rookie season he's averaging 6 points a game, 2 boards and 2 assists with an average teammate rating of A. I'm blogging his career, if anyone cares. :)

Here's Rick Daniel in one of my favorite screen caps so far.

We oughta compare someday.

My Player
All-Around SG
6'7 235
Superstar/Default

i hate my player.. i cant win.. i play 12 min qtrs.. i was drafted 20-something in the first round by the thunder, i won just one game out of 10.. everyone on my team sucked they just weren't playing as good as the other team, and durant was injured, so there was no one that could really create shots, we got blown out by 30+ points for at least half of those 10 games..

i then requested a trade and was traded to the jazz for kyrylo fesenko.. the jazz also sucked, deron doesnt take a shot unless it's a wide open fastbreak opportunity.. he doesnt take open 3 pointers much less contested ones.. and they suck so much at defense, especially on transition, where the opponents ALWAYS get and one.. and NO ONE in my team can defend the post.. it just sucks so much.. i've won 3 games with them out of almost 10, we're close to 25 games now but i didn't play the other games cuz of injury.. i also simmed 2 games out of frustration..

oh in the 3 games we won.. i had to play 37-40 min, score 30-50 points, grab 10-19 rebs, dish out 5-14asts, block 2-5 shots, steal 2-5 times (my numbers were around those lines) it absolutely sucks it's so hard and unsatisfying.. i've played this many games because i wanted to see maybe the next game would be better.. til i ended up with almost 25 games already.. on top of that, i have to think so much on defense if i want to help because my team just cant defend if their lives depended on it.. my defense is always good but when i start helping out my team mates that's when i struggle with my man.. and so i decide to stick to my man again, and then my teammates would suck again at defense and i would help.. it's a tedious cycle..

i also hate the fact that i have to play so much already at such an early point of my career..

Face up center, drafted 12th by Memphis. I was hoping I'd go 13th, was projected 14th, because the Raptors have Bargnani so I was hoping they'd have plays that suit me, but it's ok. Pretty good team and 12th pick is pretty good. I didn't even play that great in the combine imo. Set tons of screens and had double doubles but I got lit up twice by Monroe (played him every time) and I didn't score a lot (~10 pts in 8 min quarters).

First game in Summer league we lost to the Heat. Had 8 pts and 10 rebounds, defended pretty well. 10 min quarters (SL).

Been working on my threepoint range and speed a little bit.

@ rapboy: do you have auto-plays? I think it makes a difference, makes your team execute.

Re: Your Player (2K11 Edition)

at first I thought the game was helping me do good.

then in my last game I finally caused a turnover and was about to get all the possible goal based skill points for that game....

nope, didnt want to give me the 100 for winning the game. I have yet to play in a NBA 4th quarter so that was simmed, 4 minute quarters BTW. So the Bobcats had a 25 point 4th quarter just so I could lose by 1? ....yea

Re: Your Player (2K11 Edition)

My player is a 6-6 guard with the scoring play style from Israel (where I was born) he is 20 years old.
I was projected to go 1st round 7th pick but instead went 9th to Utah Jazz.
I already played 34 games and my stats are: 27ppg, 6rpg, 1.6apg playing 10min quarters. I am rated 62. Into my 6th game I took Raja Bell's starting spot and I just went off from there. The last 10 games I am scoring at least 30ppg. My career high is 59pts.
In my 3rd week in the leauge I sprained my ankle and in my 32nd game I had back spasms, so I hit to sit out 3 games. I also won Rookie of the month and week awards and player of the month and week awards multiple times.

Sometimes I think that the game is doing its best to make you lose a lot of skill points too. If your shot gets locked shots they give "Shot Blocked", "Lose Ball", and "Turnover" all at the same time. Like you know you're gonna get blocked after you drive the lane and the defender at the weak side SLIDES in and animate to have your shot blocked. Worst-case scenario if you lose the ball and the other team scored off your turnover, "Allow score off turnover", like how can your player catch up after the animated "block".

While playing my sixth game on the NBA in Nets, I broke my toe and didn't return for the whole season :x The computer will sim the whole season up to the offseason. Miami won the trophy against the Lakers, then there's an option you will choose five free agents that you wish your team will sign. Nets failed to attract Melo. Season two is going, Bulls is the new team. Hoping injury won't bug me at least for now.

LOL. Now that's a way to sim the game without having to play through each one.

Re: Your Player (2K11 Edition)

Well, created me a 6'5" shooting guard with a penchant for 3pt shooting... Having played next to none of the previous 2k iterations, well, I decided to dive right in with "My Player" mode, since that's the mode I've been wanting to play for a good part of the last decade... Just look around the forum and you'll see. Though I've been mostly inactive for the last couple of years with the lack of PC support from Electronic Arts.

Anyway... Went into the draft combine just going in to see how I'd do. The player is almost like me in "real life" though a bit taller to fit better in with the pros. Not very athletic and a 3pt shooter. In any case, the first few games were really rough and didn't do much for upgrading my draft stock. So finally got drafted to Miami with second rounds 17th pick. Or something like that. Was a starter in the summer league, but still had trouble finding my shots and stats and doing the "right" things. So bombed my self out of Miami during the 4 summer league games. Ended up in the D-league. Played like 4-5 games of that and got called up to the Spurs for a 10 day contract. Been balling with Parker, Ginobili and Duncan himself. Richard Jefferson was off the hook in one game just burning the opposition... Have played like 4 games with the Spurs and my minutes are on the rise. Still coming off the bench and still not doing much, but the team is rocking pretty well... 12-9 or something like that, probably 3-1 for the time I've been with the team. My game needs improving a lot, so I mostly just focus on getting the "teammate" rating as high as I can and I love the way this game punishes you on that scale when you do something really stupid. And there is a clear difference between D-league and the NBA. I was one of the better players on the court in the D-league, but I'm still struggling in the big league... Will have to see how well I do or if I can even stay with the team.

Make no mistake, 2k11 is a good basketball simulation. At least from what I've seen and experienced. You really need to play like it's a real game to get things done and help your team mates. Although it is the NBA, the game gets a lot easier for my self and others when the little things are done, like say setting up a screen or getting a rebound. I just try to help out and so far it's been a blast! I can't wait to play more... This is how those EA games used to feel too at some point. Then it all got "bad" before they unplugged the whole PC game... It was good riddance.

In any case... From real life basketball I can tell you that attackers always have the edge on the court. That's why the games end up with scores in the 100 point region. If they didn't have any advantage over defense, we'd see more 3-7 games especially in the big league... You cannot defend them all and cannot block all the shots. And if you want to, go play soccer... Basketball is an offensive game and the little things make the difference, if you can get easier shots and more rebounds than the other guys, you are pretty well off... If you don't , you better bring your A-game and all the lucky charms in the world for those. And no matter if your row says 35 points, 15 boards, 8 assists, 5 blocks and 5 steals, you still suck if you don't win the game. And this game mode reflects that pretty well in my opinion...

So rant, out... Peace and enjoy the game of your choice.

Still with chicago bulls. 76 rating 3 pt specialist.im now on 1st round of the playoffs - 5th seed against milwaukee bucks! lost game 1, thanks to the ball hogging of grant hill. but bounced back on game 2 and 3.

i think playoffs is harder in terms of shooting medium and long range, and opponents are smarter in doing plays. :)

advanced in the 2nd round vs the Atlanta Hawks! :) 2k11 playoffs is much better than 2k10. It becomes more challenging and its really hard to close out games. we were up 3-1 but we lost in game 5 and got a bit lucky on game 6 :)

off to atlanta and meet joe johnson! :)
