I have to say some of those trades don't look that good (Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries for Jason Terry and a first round pick, Tracy McGrady and Charlie Villanueva for Jason Kidd and a first rounder to name a couple). Looks like there might still be a few too many weird trades taking place. Some of the simulated stats don't look quite right either, too many players over 30 ppg in the scoring leaders, Amar'e second in rebounding, etc.

I'd throw the Mavs ones out the window since Czar was GM of Mavs. Even though he put it on auto, we just have to control our own trades, so that gets rid of a few of them.

My thoughts on trade AI:
- Too many trades still.
- Too many nothing trades.
- Hopefully this is just a first year issue with teams trying to sort themselves out based on team style (rebuilding, contender, buying, selling, etc).
- I am liking that teams are trading draft picks.
- Some trades seem very fair, others do not, but then again, same thing happens IRL.
- Trade AI still has a long way to go.

Other thoughts:
- Once again too much parity, 95% of teams with between 30 & 60 wins. How about a couple of 20 win teams please?
- I think the sim stats are better than last year. I think they're alright & will do the job. Kobe averaging 33pg is too high yes, but that's because he's shooting at 49%, which he hasn't done for a few years. Unlikely but ahh well, he's Kobe. As for Durant averaging 32ppg, it may happen this season so can't complain about that (Y) Obviously the rest of the guys are scoring too much. I actually think it's got to do with tendencies. Because subs have lower tendencies, when they come on, they score less. It's just scoring distribution between the teams, rather than total points scored.
- I don't mind Amar'e rebounding so much. He will be only decent big in New York & they chuck up a lot of shots. It's an extra 2rpg & unlikely, but not a deal breaker. Overall, I'd prefer Stoudemire as the outlier rather than seeing Bosh averaging 14rpg every year.
- All-NBA 1st team looks perfect. Love how they finally do it (and All-Star Games) on centre/2 forwards/2 guards rather than C/PF/SF/SG/PG. Love how they finally doing All-Rookie teams with 10 best rookies. At least now a centre that averages 1ppg, 1rpg isn't All-1st Rookie team anymore (Y)
- Although steals per a little high, blocks are a lot more realistic, low to mid 2's (Y)
- Assists look good too (Y)

Overall, trades look better. Seems like same player (TJ Ford) doesn't get traded 3 times in one season. Trades are not as bone headed as previously. They are obviously far from ideal, but I think they are good enough for me to turn them back ON in Association.

Overall, I'm happy with the improvement in sim stats. Star player scoring averages are too high (probably tendency issue) & likely bench players too low, but aside from that, not too much to complain about. At least the right players are in the top 5/10 for each category.

EDIT:
Andrew, 2K Producer SimBaller responds to your (and many other's) critiques re trade AI:

SimBaller wrote:It's become clear to me that a lot of people are simply unable look at a trade beyond the surface value. By that, I mean there is almost always more to a trade than the immediate talent involved in the trade. These other variables generally include future draft picks, salary cap management, trying to clear cap space, and coming to the conclusion that the team isn't going anywhere with the current core of players. Previously, our trade system would ignore 3 of the 4 items.

I urge you to wait until you have the game in your hands and you can look at what the team is trying to accomplish before you play your 'armchair quarterback' card and start critiquing one-off trades. I think you'll find that teams have plans and they execute on those plans.

Also, the Mavericks are not going to win with their current core. Sorry to state the obvious folks... It's worth noting that in my current Association, they went the buyer route and brought in talent.

SimBaller wrote:I just ran 5 simulations from the start of the season through the trading deadline. Here are the number of trades in each run through:

Sim 1: 13
Sim 2: 15
Sim 3: 15
Sim 4: 14
Sim 5: 13

So overall, I'm not really worried much at all. I don't think trade AI will be broken like 2k10. I don't see or hear about multiple trades of TJ Ford in one season (it was routine for him to be dealt 2 to 3 times in one season because he was an expiring).

That post was a little defensive. I get where he's coming from, but looking at those screens it seems there are still some unlikely trades in there and a lot of trades involving key players. I'm not saying it's terrible but still a bit more wheeling and dealing than is perhaps realistic. In any event, I'd rather experience it for myself before I make any final judgement, it jump out at me though.

I've noticed CPU doing some bad Thabo & Noah trades. May need to bump up their defensive awareness ratings so their OVR is higher.

Some of those trades are a bit frightening. Willie Green and Jason Kapono for Andray Blatche and a 2nd round pick?

Well, clearly you're unable to look at a trade past its surface value.

Agree, not a good trade. I'm guessing it's 2 expiring contracts from 76ers to Wizards, who are in selling/re-building mode & don't worry to carry contracts. That's only if game factors in his extension, which it probably doesn't.

Whilst not good, still better than 2k10

its not factoring the extension, for one willie green is a hornet now

But if it's factoring in his extension, that would mean they extended him to trade him basicly. Wouldn't make sense either.

I saw a screen of a trade of Jamison plus scraps for David Lee, I hated that one. I really wish that some other factors would be taken into consideration, like HE JUST GOT SIGNED! :cheeky:

Yeah that's bothered me a bit in Live before as well, newly signed big name free agents being traded a couple of months into their tenure with their new team...though I have to admit I've gone ahead and done that too with players I've signed during the offseason.

im not satisfied with the blocks per game issue. maybe its more realistic concerning the last nba seasons, low to mid 2's. but remembering players like ratliff, wallace, kirilenko, camby easily havin 3-4bpg and dwight howard greg oden and some other guys being capable its quite unrealistic. the sim engine should use defense awareness, blocking ability, vertical, low-post defense to generate kinda "max possible bpg". somewhere between 3-4 bpg.
