Steam version

Postby Kieran on Tue Oct 05, 2010 6:14 pm

Hey guys I just found this:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... st17336833

Which hopefully confirms that Steam will in fact be releasing it this year. Why there has been no info on the Steam site about it though is beyond me entirely.

As has been mentioned a number of times in other threads, it is coming to Steam today and went into the content servers late yesterday afternoon, 2K has confirmed this. Last year it was out after noon PDT. It may come earlier but it may also come later as well.

Everyone just needs to be a tiny bit patient if they intend to get it digitally.

Yes I realise that, I was just attempting to provide a helpful link for anyone who wasn't aware.

After having a DVD copy of 2k10 last year, I wanna go with the digital steam version this year. Too bad it aint out yet, I was hoping it would be :D One question, did steam release the US or EU version of 2k10 last year? (I forgot)

Hey Jao, you mentioned in the other thread that you barely able to play online with the Steam version, is that true?

I'm thinking of getting the Steam version if it can be played right away after pre-load.

Don’t you love the chase? Sometimes it doesn’t work out; those are the stakes. But when it does work out, it’s like having that first cigarette: your head gets all dizzy, your heart pounds, your knees go weak. Remember that?

There is no pre-load, you just download it after buying.

It worked the same as all PC versions online, which was terribly most of the time.

Only drawbback to D/DL, you won't get patches as fast as the DVD version. I had D/DL last year and they had that problem with the first 2K10 patch. D/DL users waited 2 weeks for the patch. Not taking any chances with that this time, I'm sticking with DVD.

So sensible to get it out instantly for OnLive and delay it on Steam...

Blame it on the digital distributors. 2K gets them the patches/games on time, it's the responsibility of the distributors to make them available.

And it would have been all at the same time last year, except GamersGate broke the date and pushed the update out, so 2K rushed out the retail patch, Steam just followed the original release date. We've been over this.

It's 2Ks fault for trying to give out a patch that's not supposed to be released for another two weeks.

Just like it's 2K's fault to not put it up on Steam for a week, or 2K's fault for just porting 2K10 for PC instead of 2K11.

My apologies for not noting the sarcasm in your first post. This one was much heavier - I think.

Anyways, I just ordered it off of Amazon with free two-day shipping, so I'm not too annoyed about Steam. Gives me a chance to keep playing the mods for 2k10.

Besides, I wouldn't really have much of a chance to play it until Thursday anyways.
