NBA 2K11 and onlive, Midnight Tonight Pacific Time

Tue Oct 05, 2010 3:11 am

I've emailed to be certain but onlive posts new games at Midnight Eastern Time and each game has a free demo you can play. The "demo" is the full version of the game just with a 30 minute time limit. My plan for tonight is to play the free demo (you can play multiple times, you can't save though) and just play that until Walmart opens tomorrow or until the PC version hits Steam.

The onlive version of the game is based on the PC version and runs at either low/medium settings, which is disappointing, but it's something.

If you're unfamiliar with onlive just think of an interactive youtube video. I've raved about it before.

If you sign up you get 1 game free and a year free (i think)

I don't think anyone should buy it on there, no mods, stuck with shitty graphics, no real community (at least not for 2k10) but at least you can play it while the digital distributors get their act together.

anyway, that's my impatient plan

Wow. Can residents outside of the USA take advantage of this demo as well? I read their terms of use and it doesn't mention residence, hope that means yes. That would be sweet! 3 extra days of practice.

ONlive is showing the entire world how multiplayer gaming and it's social network should be. Only controller actions are sent across the network, quick click, watch, and join. With the games the same on each end, there should be nothing that would un-sync the players.

I will be looking into the micro console version.

If it comes out, hell yea. I got an email back from support and they don't know the exact time it is going up though. I've been sick with flu like symptoms since Thursday (haha, it's funny because of the flu game) so my sleep schedule is all messed up. If I can't stay up 4 more hours, I'm not staying up.

Someone on OS said one UK site has 2k11 available for pre-loading but it doesn't unlock until the 8th. So, that is at least somewhat promising that all the other sites will get their act together tomorrow.

If you can stay up the first thing you should play is the flu game challenge.
