Talk about NBA 2K11 here.
Fri Sep 09, 2016 9:53 pm
After completing some unfinished business in NBA 2K12 with NBA's Greatest, I decided to have another shot at doing the same in NBA 2K11 with the Jordan Challenge. I like to mix a bit of retro gaming in with the newest games in my rotation, and I figured I'd write about it in a future Wayback Wednesday column as well.
I started the 1991 NBA Finals challenge today, taking Game 1 and getting off to a good start as far as averaging 31+ points, 11+ assists, and shooting 55% or better from the field: 40 points on 18/23 shooting, and 18 assists for MJ. I also captured a few of the dunks he threw down, including a free throw line dunk that just kind of happened on the fast break. I thought I'd share them, ahead of any Wayback Wednesday article(s) I write on finishing up the challenges.

This remember me how i loved this game mode (and this game)
The hardest challenge was for me to keep Clyde Drexler under 20 points

That's probably the toughest part of The Shrug, I agree. If nothing else, it's something that can trip you up after you've achieved the first half goals. I found that building a double digit lead and then daring Terry Porter to shoot was an effective way of keeping the ball out of Drexler's hands, limiting his opportunities to score.

My option was to foul out Clyde
I'll follow this thread or your articles about this challenge if you share it

Another fine option!
I'm thinking it might be a series of articles; it just depends on how quickly I'm able to finish the rest of the challenges, especially as the 1991 Finals runs at least four games. If nothing else, it might be a long article if I don't split it up.

that's pleasant to read
No hi-res screenshots ?
Post game presentation was so good in 2K11 with pictures book

I've still got them, they're just re-sized and cropped for the article.

Thanks.

It was fun to do, but like I said, certainly frustrating at times!

For me, frustation is necessary and a part of any game.
If it's too easy, there's no challenge, and no need to complete the game, or revisiting the game.
And it seems you will

But you're right, NBA 2K11 isn't perfect, controls are better theses days.
But 2k11 is for me, and by far, the best basketball game on previous gen.
Good articles, i enjoyed reading theses little stories.
Next game ? 2K10 or 2K9 ?

As far as challenges/completing things are concerned, nothing immediately in mind. I obviously have topics lined up for future Wayback Wednesday pieces, but I'll see what other modes and features I can revisit.

Put together a
highlight reel for this week's Wayback Wednesday, as I didn't want those clips to go to waste.

Awesome! I've always wanted to complete the Jordan Challenge, but I can only finish the 69-point Celtics game and 1991 Finals.

Thanks! It's definitely challenging, but then you are trying to replicate some of MJ's greatest feats, in eight minute quarters no less. I could probably put together some tips, if anyone's interested.

I dunno if you had already watch
MessenjahMaatt's channel on Youtube ?
Great videos, specially on 2K11, he recreated moves (the shot, the shrug, dunk on Ewing)

I definitely did check them out back in the day. I believe some personal/family issues forced him to give up his channel, but he did some tremendous work with those videos.

This was probably made without any mods, based on the Miami Heat court and the created Indiana Pacers players. Just pure vanilla 2k11.
