Question about my Specs

Postby wtferrell on Tue Nov 30, 2010 9:59 am

Hey fellas, I just bought a new Laptop for some photo and video editing purposes, but now I'm thinking about playing 2k on it while on the road. It's being built now, just wondering what you all think:

XPS 15 XPS 15
Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
Processor Intel® Core™ i5-460M (2.53GHz, 4 threads, turbo boost up to 2.8GHz, 3M cache)
Memory 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory
Keyboard Standard Keyboard - English
Video Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 420M 1GB graphics with Optimus
Hard Drive 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
System Color and LCD Silver Anodized Aluminum 15.6" HD (720p) WLED Display
Integrated Network Adapter Integrated 10/100/1000 Network Card
Adobe Reader Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 9.0
CD ROM/DVD ROM 8X Tray Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
Sound JBL 2.1 Speakers with Waves Maxx Audio 3
Wireless Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000

What do you think? I'm not familiar with the mobile videocards anymore, but would like to play it at high settings. Possible? What kind of FPS do you think I'll get with it?

You think I'll be able to run it at max, 720p with everything on high? Appreciate it Andrew.

Possibly, I'd say at least high if not max. Here's a video of Call of Duty: Black Ops on the XPS 15, though admittedly they've got the 2GB video card:

That's on medium-high settings, according to the video description. Considering Black Ops' requirements are higher than NBA 2K11's, I think you'll be fine.

I play with a 320 M and it is max at about 40 fps. You'll probably be able to clock 60 fps.

Just an update for those on the fence, I'm running at a constant 55+FPS. Appreciate the help in this thread. Love this game.
