You guys are OG's and know your game I respect that, but I gotta ask, I skimmed through your comments and didn't see one mention of probably the one thing that's causing most of these issues yall are trying to get fixed.
The game engine itself, and I know I sound like a broken record as I've talked about this numerous times, I'm annoy at myself at how many times I've had to bring it up, but I was under the assumption with all that IGNITE hype EA was pushing that it was going to be a brand new engine from the ground up ONLY for new gen, that's quite literally what they've said wasnt it ? next gen era stuff right ?
then game comes out and it's basically updated version of Elite 11 just a bit more polished....
Anyway my question is do you guys really believe these issues that are being discussed here can be resolved given the limitations of the engine they're currently using ? the game doesn't even run at 60fps half the time, I have a hard time believing they're able to do much else if they can't get the basics right...
my own personal addition to this thread in relevance to the discussion is I just want what we were promised, I want a new engine like they said they had (IGNITE) because you gotta FIRST get the physics of the players right before anything else, otherwise everything else is useless....
and the other thing would be EA actually doing what they said they would, which is daily updates with the Synergy and it's rosters and player tendencies and ratings, if you can't do that EA, at least allow us to edit rosters... I think it's been quite a while now since they last posted a roster update, yet they bragged about doing it literally "the hour it happens"

I read the IGNITE engine was specifically designed with the AMD chips these consoles use. With that said, it's up to the Live development team to optimize the experience and the framerate. I don't think it's an engine limitation. Also, the word "engine" gets tossed around a lot. There are simulation engines, physics engines, graphics engines, AI engines, animation engines, etc.
Andrew Wilson wrote:Our engine is built specifically for sports. For example, the new locomotion system was developed specifically to create player movement that is authentic to real-world athletes. EA Sports Ignite is more than a rendering engine; it also combines run-time physics, animation, locomotion and online systems.
Here is an excellent developer interview with video footage about the IGNITE engine in Fifa 14 and I would like to see this kind of detail from Live developers detailing about how the engine affects the gameplay. I'm sure they aren't at that level of detail yet, but I would like to see it in the future.

I'm assuming you guys aren't soccer fans and haven't played FIFA 14. It's the most scripted sports game I've ever played and don't want any of it in Live.

Pdub you know what I mean right, I mean the one engine that everything is based on really which would be the core physics/environment engine. I've seen all the tidbits vid clips about Ignite, and I realized that they never really go as far as saying it's a brand new engine, but yet they insist on trying to make us think that it is with video clips like that... it's like they go the whole 9 yards, but legally cannot cross the 10'th because they know it'd be outright lying.
And what Phreak is talking about the scripted part, well that's basically like this right, EA has revealed prior to Madden 14 release that previous Madden games work basically like this.....
player 1 and player 2 get in a collision, and the outcome of that action doesn't depend at all on real life circumstances that would take place in real life, but instead it's computed via the player ratings (sliders) and it's computed in that split second and you get the end result... so basically instead of something realistic happening, it's just numbers being crunched therefore you get that "scripted" result that Phreak is talking about....
But they said in Madden 14 for the first time collisions and actions will have an end result based on ACTUAL PHYSICS instead of the old number crunching method, when I saw they spoke on that subject so candidly I assumed it was the end of this practice and they had implemented this change across all of their sports games...... I thought that's what IGNITE was all about, a revolutionary new engine that was so powerful it could not be put on previous generation consoles, would only work on next gen..... Well this is a big reason as to why I was so extremely disappointed in NBA Live, I have been invited twice as a game tester to the EA burnaby studio not for gameplay purposes, but other stuff I can't mention, and from what I saw there it looked like Live was back... so I basically had insider knowledge which put me over the top with excitement... so then I picked up live days before release and I was absolutely stunned and still am
I and I'm sure a lot others would agree, we would have taken a extremely bare bones version of Live 14, and bare bones I'm talking like just QUICK GAME available, no season, no gm, no my player no nothing except picking 2 teams and playing a full game.... if it came with what they promised a fresh engine where the gameplay was on point, and then slowly implement and add other things over the next few years... that's something we would have patience for because the base and the core of the game which the most important thing to a sport game would be there, but instead of the opposite of what we got now, which is the core of the game is rotten turd but they're still trying to shine it
Kind of like the difference between drafting a raw talented 19 year old kid who's gonna become an all-star in a few years, compared to a guy who's 25 and already at the top of the hill on his way down, but still good enough to start and contribute... I definitely feel we were promised the 19 year old and we got stuck with the 25'er

Split from the feedback thread, as it's starting to take things off-topic and into its own discussion. Feel free to keep the discussion going here.
