Kyrie Irving perfect coverboy?

Postby CamBuckNasty94 on Mon May 20, 2013 10:58 pm

I'm a new user on this site, but I've been constantly on here for 2 years (I don't know why I'm just now making an account :facepalm2: ) and I'm a HUGE Live fan and hope to be on here regularly, and I also have a FB page called "The Return of Live", but there's hardly any reaction from the 60 something likes :( . Now that that's out the way, my first question is: should EA snag Kyrie Irving as their coverboy before 2K does? My answer is a resounding yes.

If Live is still trying to use the 'Future of Basketball' motto, then look no further, Irving IS the future of basketball. Most exciting player in the L in my opinion, and his popularity just keeps skyrocketing, he would create a nice buzz too. It seems as if EA wouldn't have a hard time getting him to grace the cover of Live 14, since he (and Ricky Rubio) toyed around with Live 13 during All-Star Weekend last year. I think Kyrie is a no-brainer, what does everyone else think?

Irving would be a pretty good choice, as he's established himself as an up and coming star in the league and garnered his first All-Star appearance last season. Getting someone like LeBron would be more of a coup but if that's not feasible then I think Irving would certainly be a suitable cover player (and probably a decent prediction, given his involvement with NBA Live 13 last year).

I just got done reading the recent SLAM Magazine, with Kyrie on the cover, and tell me this isn't a shoe in:

"A few days after I get up with Kyrie in Miami, we reconnected in Orlando, where he has a meeting with a company he's signed on to endorse."

and where is Tiburon located? Orlando...

Don't forget to combine that with the recent images of him and Rubio for the Xbox One presentation and I'd say you might be on the right track.

It'll be a shame when 2K puts Andre on the cover and sells five hundred million copies.

I'd assume LeBron's price is too high more than anything.

LeBron afraid to choke on the sales with him on the cover.

LeBron will be tired from winning his second consecutive ring & finals MVP then.

As for the cover, I think Rubio will be a great option too. I like Irving a lot but for some reason I want to see Rubio on that cover

That must be his excuse for pussying out of the dunk contest where he said he would participate years ago.

Yeah, Irving is definitely looking like a good bet at this point. Solid choice, as I said before.

Who cares about the All-Star weekend? That's where Kobe dominates LeBron, that's how real it is. It's fun and all but nothing to keep rambling on about. It's the season & post season that matters.

Andrew, Irving is solid. But if EA make a comeback, wouldn't it be better if they tried someone a bit more mega like Kobe or LeBron?

So how many rings does Kobe have again?

+4 than LeBron with a timeline difference of 7 years.

And how many MVPs he got? Clever how you quoted the post-season part in bold.

Are we really arguing about LeBron in a Live subforum? What's the point of it? It isn't like if he was on it the game would be better...

Of course. Like I said in my original reply, getting someone like LeBron would be even more of a coup. However, as benji noted, it's usually a matter of price. There's always a budget to consider and it may be difficult to justify spending $10 million (for example) to get someone like LeBron on the cover, never mind what other demands they might have for agreeing to sign on.

we already know rg3 is not on the madden cover, messi will most likely be on fifa again, and i will be curious to see if anthony pettis will be on the cover for their ufc game. funny that the moment (off the fence kick to the face) they recreated in the video didnt happen in the ufc

You really like the media based regular season MVP awards don't you.
The regular season only matters because it gives them entry to the post season and a chance at a championship which is what matters and ultimate goal of a player. You think players want to play good in the season just so they can be eliminated in the playoffs, regular season < post season.
Even with the time difference until LeBron can equal the number of rings Kobe has or even Adam Morrison has,

MVP award isn't media based, it's based on the performance of a player in the season. LeBron doesn't need to equal however many rings Kobe has, he is already better than him.

End of discussion.

C'mon son. It's been a media vote for 40 years or more. Lacy Banks once gave Jermaine O'Neal a first place vote over KG because KG wouldn't give him an interview. The only shocking part really was that he openly admitted it.

Haven't you learned this already, the media votes for the award so it's subject to the bias and whims of the people that vote.
If it's performance based then just eliminate the media voting, why bother.
But it's not and it's still a voting process from people that dare call themselves 'journalist'.

Funny how you included post season matters in your previous post and yet ignore it when it shows the player that you homer for pales in comparison to someone who still isn't retired from the league.
A bandwagoning homer fanboy I see. Just terrible.

This silliness you just keep bringing up. Useless. With or without media voting, LeBron is the true MVP anyway.

I didn't ignore it. I just said that the season matters as well.

Cop out. I've backed my piece, I only wish homers can do the same.
