Okay, here comes a huge update. Get your coffee ready.
1st version.
Try it, sim some, give some feedback.
features:
- every player's age +1
- measurements rookies updated
- Cf's corresponding
- many tendencies tweaked. no more random 3 pt shooting bigs any more.
Instead Channing Frye now actually does shoot 3's.
- realistic rotations (imo) and realistic results-statlines (again, imo lol)
yet to come:
- transactions fully updated
- more skills/statline tweaking, rotation tweaks and coaches tweaks (also based on feedback)
- an effort to solve the rookies not developing-bug
- some (un)drafted rookies added
note on the rotations:
- some injured or injury prone players play limited minutes (<30), like Yao (still puts up 18/9 lol), Bynum, Oden, J-Howard, and Perkins completely out of rotation, Shaq and JO so, for a change.
- some guys start but play <30 because their back up is good, or for strategic reasons. for example Calderon/Jack, Beno, Pachulia starts to put Horford at PF to start but only plays 20+ mins or so, Turiaf and Okur start but make place for AR and Millsap major minutes, Ginobili off the bench, Z starts but plays shortly. Oh and I put LBJ at pg since we're talking Heat.
- I went out with Ibaka starting and Jeff Green as 6th man and forgot to reverse it.
- the only real screwed up rotation is Detroit. I don't know what to do with it, their roster is messed up.
please try it and enjoy!
Oh and, before I forget, I don't know how it will play, only how it
sims. I hope the play will be just as good and realistic.
I recommend to use for your setting increased fouling* and adjusted shooting succes for your sliders^.
(but I look forward to feedback how it plays on other settings too

)
* charge foul 100
block and shooting 75
loose ball 100
reaching 50 or so ( I think)
^ user/cpu same sliders
inside 41/41
close 43/43
midrange 45/45
three 45/45
layup and dunk 43/43
dunk in traffic 42/42
those I have set myself so if it influences simming which I don't know, then those are the ones that got the results as they are.
Commentary:First of all, if you hate high ratings get out while you still can.

More about that later.
First let me tell you the test results so far and some background on a few decisions I made in the proces.
For the Western Conference I can say that if tere were 9 playoff spots you can pretty much predict who qualifies. It's always one of the 9 that misses out from the playoff teams this year + the Rockets. Sometimes there's a surprise but not too often.
Lakers dominate, usually 1st seed. Denver, Dallas, Utah hardly ever miss the playoffs. Denver once made the finals and so did Utah, but 8 times out of 10 it's LA. Blazers, Rockets, OKC, Phoenix and San Antonio are less predictable. They can go from HCA one time to being 9th the next.
Teams like Warriors, Clippers, Hornets slip through every once in a while, but it's not to be expected. I have to take a look at making the Grizzlies a little better, they seem to never get over the hump.
Btw all these tests were done with me controlling all 30 teams (so nobody would sign anybody or trade) and with injuries, chemnistry and all that stuff OFF.
So obviously trades and injuries would have an effect normally and make things even more unpredictable but I wanted controlled results.
Then the East. Milwaukee. I've been micromanaging them for ages feels like now. It's been fun really, but a tough task as well. It has lead to, at first glance, a big overrating (rating, literally) of their players, you could say. I had to find a way to get them to play defense, and I have made many many minor and major upgrades of their players in many many occasions and then re-tested. As well as tweaked the rotation, and also the 'coach profile' of Skott Skiles.
Bare in mind though, I always tried to make realistic improvements. Most things didn't help anyway. Or not enough to get them in the playoffs regularly, which I think should be the standard. They should have a real good shot after what they did last year.
So, again, I tried to stay true to the real players. So I didn't just upgrade Drew Gooden's defense which would have solved everything.

Finally, I had to drop him from the starting five. As well as put Maggette in which I both didn't prefer.
I wanted Jennings/Salmons/Mbah-a-Moute/Gooden/Bogut with Maggette as super-6th man but it didn't work.
So I ended up after trying every combination possible with:
Jennings/Salmons/Maggette/Ilyasova/Bogut, 6: Mbah-a-Moute, 7: Gooden, 8: Dooling, 9: Delfino

Looks good right?
I'm very happy with those statlines. And the results they've been having as a team. I would say that now they make the playoffs 3 out of 4 times, and with a winning record, outscoring their opponents on average by 1.5 pts. As opposed to making the playoffs 1x every 5 sims
with a losing record, after already many upgrades and trial even.
One of the keys to having turned them around is making them gang rebound, play hard nose D as a team (coach slider of defensive pressure and crash the boards at 100%) while all having a very low tendency to foul.
Which is imo realistic because of a few reasons. They do play hard nose D and I looked this up, they had the 2nd lowest fg % as a team last year. Better only than NJ Nets.
So they make up for it elsewhere. More possessions. I can hear Skiles say this in a scrum right now: "Extra possessions guys" and "don't put them on the charity stripe". Which they don't, I looked this up too, they were 7th last in fouling or so with 23 fouls per game.
Now I have them also playing slow pace. Btw I do hope the coach sliders are included in the Roster because they're an instrumental part of the design of how stats are put out.
It's pretty cool, the Bucks have a lot of close games, I had one season where it felt like more than 10 one-point games which was crazy.

A lot of close games and they can keep a team below 80 every now and then, don't have to score 100+ to win every time. And now their range is from 3rd seed to 10th I guess which I think is perfect.
Okay, so now it's time to put your coffee down.
Because here's the scary part. The ratings of your average Bucks role players... (drumrolls)
Remember the box score before you go nuts on me!

Ilyasova 80
Mbah-a-Moute 79
Maggette 79
Gooden 77
and, a little less shocking, I suppose
Salmons 81
Jennings 81
Bogut 85
I guess a lot of people will think those guys are overrated, literally. You can say that's so and I wouldn't disagree.
For example Ilyasova is now 3 pts higher than John Wall. The CPU will probably accept the offer if you send it out and maybe even add his first rounder, haha. If you want to abuse that that's fine, I really don't care, that's not the point of this roster. Because that's what trade override can do anyway.
The point here is realism, and look back at the numbers Ilyasova put up: 8 & 5 with 1 assist and a block. In 28 minutes, btw.
And might I add, on horrible shooting.
So he is not 80 to beast on the floor, he won't. I had to upgrade a lot of ratings to make them play some defense. Especially with staying true to the team. Bogut can't defend the perimeter so he still has F per D. Mbah a Moute has A and B+ defense now. I came from him being 72 with B B defense... might tone him down a bit but I think defense is what he does so.. it's good.
Interesting bit about both, and Gooden. All have A or A- rebounding now. This made their rating a lot higher. Most is in offensive rebounding. All three of those guys averaged 2 offensive boards per game or more last season, no kidding, every single one in less than starter minutes too. I can't upgrade them enough to make them grab them in the game. You need huge rebounding to get offensive boards. Only Dwight can get 3+ per game and he's got huge vert. So basicly all 3 have 95 or more for offensive rebounding now. That's necessary to make them grab 2 a game. Just like 2 steals per game is like 80 for steals at certain pace.
This made their rebounding A- or A. They all hardly grab 6 or 7 boards a game though, so don't be fooled by it.
For example, Andrea Bargnani is rated 78, and has C+ rebounding. He still gets more rebounds than them.
If I, and I have done it to test it out, upgrade Bargnani's offensive rebounding to 99 (is 70 now), then he bumps to 80 rating, his rebounding goes to A-, and he only grabs one extra board, maybe.
So it's about what they put out. Realistic results.
And the CPU acknowledges the stats, not the ratings. Because every now and then Bargnani gets picked for NBA 3rd team despite just being 78. Crazy, I know, but I guess they don't really value team records.

And sometimes he averages like 20/8/2 so that's pretty good.
The rest of the East is doing nicely. Sometimes a fluke team making the playoffs, like Nets, or Pistons, Pacers, Wiz, but usually the same as last year plus NY and minus Cavs most times but not always. Heat, Magic and Celtics all made the finals although Celtics only once I think. Bobcats take care of business despite being depleted or upgraded by me, except GWall's rebound that is and Tyrus Thomas a little bit.
So without further a-do:
