Starting on 2k10 a year after I last played Live. Questions

Hi!

So I've been away for so so long, since I last played NBA Live (like, reeeally played, not just messed around with it) around a year ago. My computer then messed up and since then I've been saving up for a new one, and now that I (more or less) have a new one I'm going to go into NBA 2k10 once everything else with my new PC is up and running. But I do have a lot of questions about 2k10 for the PC before I start.

1) Starter pack. Does anyone here have a one-download-to-save-time starter pack for all the necessary patches - roster updates, jersey/gear/accessory updates, etc? It's fine if there is none but hey, you never know.
2) I heard jerseys have a limit in number, and I guess that's something I have to come to terms with lol. But is there an average range of available jerseys per team? So I have an idea?
3) Editing. I'm just going to mention stuff I used to do with NBA Live 08. All I did back then was:
3a) Edit the database if I want to add my custom player (or any other additional players) into the regular pool of players
3b) Add my own portrait
3c) Edit the database to adjust new contracts for some players etc
3d) Make some new concept jerseys of my own
--can that still be done on 2k10?
4) Editing jerseys...will that still be more or less just as easy as Live's or not?
5) How far would customizing be able to reach with 2k10? What can or cannot we edit?

First of all congratulations on getting a new rig

As for your questions..(I am only trying to answer with things that I know of. Pardon me if some information is off.)

1. For a mega update patch of some sort (like the ones in the nba live series) there is currently none as far as I know. The most closest you can get is a patch done by Jao and others for an NCAA mod. There are some patchers though that release their work in bulk but thats about it. Nothing like before where you get an installation file that puts all the files for you. Also talking about necessary patches, there is an official update coming in the next few months i suppose after 2k announced that they already have distributed the process to game vendors.

2. There is a constant update coming from 2k regarding jerseys. So the count is not fixed. Currently there are empty slots for jerseys for each team including their Latin Night jerseys and retro jerseys as well. But I guess we have to wait for the official patch to release to unlock those.. Or you could always grab a jersey from one of our patchers here and change it to the corresponding .iff number. JaosMing has a list of the iff numbers in the forum somewhere that you could just dig out.

3. As far as editing goes, all the stuff you mentioned are pretty much available to edit. There are tools provided by a group of patchers here that can do things from jersey/court mods, cyberface swapping, portrait addition to 3d mods.. But for roster editing, i think the tools are currently limited as to its capabilities. You could refer to the stickied thread for that in the release section.

4. There is a tool released for jersey editing. That should not be a problem for you to figure I guess if you have been patching before.

5. All I could think of here is that court editing is limited. Also on the rosters, you have to do a workaround to add a certain cyberface without using texmod requiring swapping of player ID's. And as I've said roster editing is limited as far as I know. I'm pretty sure you'll find your answers soon enough within the pages here.
