Double Core Problem: My solution (XP)

Postby buzzerbeater on Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:39 am

Hey Guys,

for all the poor guys who still are working on the problem with a slow framerate although having a proper PC system (and running it with XP):

Start NBA 2k10

Go through your menues (load/quick game etc...)

Start Game

when the pre-game presentation starts, ALT+TAB to go back to Windows

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL for the Task-Manager

Right-Click on nba2k10.exe

SET AFFINITY(right below "SET PRITORITY")

Uncheck CPU 1 --> OK

SET AFFINITY

Check CPU 1; Uncheck CPU 0 --> OK

SET AFFINITY

Check CPU 0 --> OK

Back to NBA 2k10

after some seconds the game will run smoothly.

FYI my system: XP SP3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ (2.61 Ghz)
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (driver 27 Sept 09)

Settings: Res 1680:1050
VSync On

MSAA: 4x
MSAA quality: 6
Crowd: med
Player: med
Stadium: high
Sideline Characters: on
texture q: high
dept of field: on
floor refl: on

Benchmark: 55 FPS !!!

I hope this helped some of you...

It's your AMD dual core. Not to mention you cranking up the MSAA. If the official dual core timing fix from microsoft doesn't work, then editing the CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 to 0 in your config.cfg file will. You should be running everything on high, maybe crowd on medium.
