2K Ticker Settings - what's this???

I wonder what are the 2K Ticker Settings? What is this? What's the MENU TICKER DEFAULT, and IN-GAME TICKER?

if you are connected to the servers it will show real life scores in-game in a ticker at the bottom of the screen
