When the technologically challenged try to play 2K10...

Talk about NBA 2K10 here.

When the technologically challenged try to play 2K10...

I got 2K10 for the PC for myself for Christmas. I also got a Logitech Rumble Pad, because I used to using the keyboard. The controller seems to work fine. 2K10 took an unusually long time to install, (about 45 minutes) I open it up, I get a Firewall window as I open the game, but I can't click anything before I'm in. The opening menu looks like crap. There's Kobe Bryant clones everywhere and half of stuff piled up with other shit... I don't know how to describe it, but it just wasn't right. "Press Enter" I do that on my keyboard, and then there's a load of white text on a white background. I press esc, it asks for my name. I'm taken to the Enter Game screen. Magic vs. Lakers. OK! 2k10, lets go! The crowd is flying through the air, the seats are all black. The court is black with no background, all the players are black and are wearing green uniforms. The Lakers appear to be wearing Warriors warm up sweaters. The commentary is really slow, and then gets to normal speed. Then it's sorta stops, and I never get to tip off. (Not that I would want to...)

I'm completely useless with technology... for example, the only patches I could download for Live 07 were Andrew's because I just needed to click the .exe file.

I have Windows XP, an AMD Athlon Xp Processor 3000+, an NVIDIA gFORCE 4 graphics card, 3 months of AOL, 512 DDR SDRAM (whatever that means). I am just reading the stickers on my computer and I don't know what any of that stuff is. I just like basketball.

Your PC does not meet the minimum requirements by a long shot, and your graphic card is what's causing all those visual glitches. You won't be able to play the game with this system, sorry.

Thanks.

EDIT: If I got a middle of the road, new laptop, would that generally meet the requirements?

I couldnt help but laugh
You should have read the description from the pc requirements
U need at least a good dual core, say an Intel core duo 2 or higher than AMD 5000+
A decent graphics card, I recommned from 8800 GT to the new GTX models
And new memory
Try a motherboard that supports DDR2 or DDR3
That way performance will be better

My current specs which play this game at 70 FPS at all high and 4x AA (1920x1080) are
AMD Phenom2 945 X4
DDR2 1066 4 gigs
8800 gts 512 mb
But this game isnt really demanding until you reach to the high settings

I got this PC in 2004... it's still frisky on the internet, and before today, that's all I really cared about. I might need a laptop anyway, so I'm hoping I'll be able to play 2K10 when that happens.

generally, laptops arent ideal "gaming" PCs (either the cheaper ones are too underpowered, or that the good ones are too expensive)
but anway, if you are bent on getting a laptop, do post the specs/model here so we can help you see if its good enough or not or what performance to expect from it :)

That 3 months of AOL isn't going to cut it for NBA 2K10.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. This made my day...

Is it any wonder why companies like EA and 2k ignore PC gamers? I'm sure they spend millions a year fielding calls from morons wondering where to stick the DVD into their Commodore 64's.
