Talk about NBA 2K10 here.

I can overclock my CPU up to 3.4
Yet in NBA 2K10 if I go beyond 3.1, it will crash at the begining
Should I reinstall NBA 2K10?

or maybe just not overclock

well JaoSming, I have heard the higher you up your CPU performance, the faster 2k10 will run on high
im only getting 32 frames

Try loosening(increasing) the memory timings while overclocking, or increasing the cpu voltage. Any other games crashing when you overclock?

Suprisingly all my other games dont crash
I know I got the voltage right....
Maybe I will check the memory timings

lol im scared to increase the timings
however, i forgot to set one timing to its correct clock
now nba 2k10 is very smooth
problem is that i still cant overclock to 3.2 without crashing nba 2k10

Increasing the timings of the memory will actually make it more stable. It's decreasing the timings that make it faster and less reliable, or more likely to crash or not even POST. If you read up on overclocking, most people who want insane GHz have to really loosen those memory timings. So, just loosen them a bit and see what happens.
When I bought my ram, it had low rated timings(4-4-4-12 DDR2 400(800), but that was only for two 1GB sticks. I bought two pairs and kept getting blue screens at 4-4-4-12. Once I loosened the timings, the blue screens disappeared.
You can find a program called CPU-Z anywhere on the net and check the rated timings for your ram. "JEDEC" is the standard stable settings that are supposed to guarantee that a cpu will work with them(not overclocked, though).
Tried overclocking your video card?

What videocard do you have?
What processor do you have?
Did you update your mobo and video card drivers?

What did you do to get it to work? Maybe someone else would like to know.

It was just my memory
Had to correct the timings
NBA 2K10 is a resource hog

Video card is 8800 GTS 512 mb and yes updated mobo and drivers
Processor is 7750 AMD Athlon X2 Black Edition
I already found a solution due to memory needed to be clocked correctly

NBA 2K10 is a resource hog
Not really, it's a breeze with a system that's between 1 to 2 years old. You can play Crysis, GTA IV or STALKER: Clear Sky if you wanna see what a real resource hog is on PC.

Crysis is a godly resource hog

Heres an update
When I upgraded to a quad core, NBA 2K10 ran at 70 frames per second
So dual cores in 2K10 are not so great, and the max i got was 40 frames
