So now i will document my steps via screenshots :

Step 1.

Like you asked me to, i inverted all colors of the texture in the IFF Editor.
It came out like this. AND DON'T GET CONFUSED BE CAUSE OF THE GREEN DOTS !!! there is an empty texture i have filled with color before and it overlayed half of the court with that color, so this time i just added green dots with space in between to see which areas are effects.

Image

Step 2. Now Vlad, i know IFF Editor doesn't work on your computer so i will tell what's inside the IFF files.
There are two textures. 0 and 9. Both are white !!!! And this is the important and interesting thing about it.
0 Has a small rectangular size. 9 is a little bit bigger. So in Step 2 i changed 0 and just made it red.
See what happened ! Now i don't know why the 3 Point line and the outbount area line isn't in the same
Red as the inbound and the mid court line.

Image

Step 3. I've done the same with the texture "9" and made it green. And seeee what happened haha.

Image

So Vlad, remember i wrote about DTXC ?? and the link i pasted here !?. The way how he described that method matches to what happened here. We have 2 white texture blocks and by a 3rd method they get a color overlay

That's awesome bro, keep it up! (Y) it seems that you are slowly nailing it with the help of Vlad and Jao.If all works oust good, this should be the start of some awesome retro courts that were impossible to achieve via conventional methods!

well i'm just guessing all the time, with out the guiding by vlad and jao i wouldn't know shi* hahaha

but i've dealt with the line "f-l-o-o-r-_-l-i-n-e-s" in the actual nba team courts. there is a alpha line before "f-l-o-o-r-_-l-i-n-e-s" just the same way as it comes with the f800-iff file.

Re: Court Colors Hex Editor Help. Inbound, 3 Point Line etc.

Sun May 23, 2010 10:57 pm

I've made a great step. (i think so at least haha)

I've edited the "ff ff ff ff" alpha value that comes in front of "f-l-o-o-r-_-l-i-n-e-s" and guess what happened...
the entire lines, the ones we want to change were removed from the court in game.

i changed the "ff ff ff ff" value to a RGB value now, i started with "6b c3 62 ff" or something like that. now i will try it
again and with "ff 6d c3 62" to figure out if the alpha "ff" has to stay in the first or in the last place.

the only problem here, and this is what confuses me is, that if i should make it to change the "ff ff ff ff"'s to a working
RGB Hex edit code that works in game that the inbound and 3 point line will have the same color, now we know that the
lakers court has two different colors, inbound yellow, 3 point line purple. so i don't know if that's because of the court structure
which is set somewhere else in the hex code (great western forum threat) or if the reason is that those lines we try to edit
get their color information from somewhere/what else and not from the "ff ff ff ff" line which is in front of the "f-l-o-or-_-l-i-n-e-s"

great find man, simply awesome. As you know I don't understand sh*t about hex editing (only understand the concept of it), that's why I really appreciate your effort in trying to crack this down. I'm sure the guys here will help you with the little problem.

Keep it up bro.

P.S. Did you get my email?

Best

okay don't ask me WTF for god sakes happened but i tried the same again with the file and this time it didn't work anymore, the game just crashed, so maybe i just typed some working numbers by random or this b*tch is tricking me.

Edit : So now it worked again, but the floor lines weren't removed, i did exactley the same and nothing happened. don't know why. but here is a screenshot of the line i'm talking about

Edit : i managed it to get it work, beneath the hex edit code is a screenshot. it has to be "ff ff ff ff" "20 13 14 ff" the last ff has to stay.. what can i say.. at least working for those who want to make a 1950's patch lol

Cool, bro! ))
I wish, I had more free time. :( Just lacking it to help you. :(
Keep it up! (Y) 50s' courts - nice thing :)
And you are gaining HEX experience, that is very nice and important, especially, if you are planning to work as a programmer (or a cracker  ) ;)

i'm a graphic designer and actually i hate everything which is linked to programming haha (flash victim)

but i have to say it's kinda fun looking up the file via hex editor, but right now i'm not making any progress in finding the color overlay

Little update :

As you see i was able to remove the thin lines editing the lakers court.

Now, i started to look up a simpler court with no team textures.

it's court f737.iff ( i think, i'm not on my computer so i cant look up the right number).

I think it's the template court for created teams. i changed the f737.iff to f015.iff for the lakers. in game the outbound area is black, the under court zone red, and the thin lines, 3 point line etc. white.

i googled a little bit about the whole DXT something texture strucute we know about. I've read something about it that when it comes to colors and there is a combination between DXC5 and let's say DXT3, you have at least sometimes two alpha channels A0 and A1.

So since i know the inner area of the court is red, i took the hex rgb of "ff 00 00" made it bgr "00 00 ff" and put A0 in front of it.

"A0 00 00 ff" so, the hex code was full of it i didn't touch it. Second attempt was that i tried the same with "A1 00 00 ff".

It came out that this value appears only once in the court file 737.iff. I thought it might be the red and replaced it with some hex color i created but i left the A1, this is important.

So, what happened. All white lines where removed (three point line etc.). Note : this value had a totally different position than the one in the lakers court i changed which had the same effect.

CAT court is f800.iff if you dont believe me replace it and load up some CATs.

737 is a unfinished court left in the game for one of the NCAA arenas

okay okay, and it was 738 (my bad) i think its good looking up that court since there are no team textures inside.

yep, true, BTW, 736 and 737 should look identical to 738

kool i'll look up that court too. there is one thing that concerns me regarding the color value in the hex code.

the court i talked about has a little enhacement around the out of bound line. when i change the line in the hex code i just mentioned the enhacement dissappears too.. so my concern is that the color information might be placed somewhere else. like in the same file where the RGB Palette is placed (the one that appears when you want to edit the shoe color etc.). so what i mean is that there might be a line in the hex code which gives a command to use that color from the palette as an overlay from the file where RGB Palette is placed.
but i'm just specualting cause i have really no idea when it comes to the structure of the game etc.

80x.iff's also have black outbound and red 3-sec areas. :)

Does anybody know where the RGB palette is stored/located in the files ?

this was awesome. Very glad you cracked it down! My respects to you my friend since Hex editing is not for everyone and sometimes becomes a headache if you are a begginer. (Y)
