NBA 2K10 Patch Discussion

the reason they release the codes are for the console offline people and people in the middle of associations, but the codes dont work on the PC version at all so yea, start over

QA can take weeks if not months. But considering the relatively busted QA on the initial release of 2k10 anyway, we just might get lucky.

Nah. QA should take a couple of days. I mean they know what to expect as they have already done this before on consoles(PS3/XBOX360) 1st and 2nd patch.

The PC Patch will mainly be the same. All they have to make sure is Big Men shooting 3's glitch is fixed and everything works properly with no new bugs/glitches/issues arising from the patch.

if you do quick game from NBA today the uniforms are unlocked and if you download the official rosters from the 2kshare section for February 5th that has them unlocked as well.

St Patties, Cavfanatic, Latin nights, Bobcats Racing, all of them are unlocked

like i said, they are not unlocked in my game. i have set my account to be always logged on so when i enter the game it downloads new rosters automatically. and when i tried quick game, all secondary jerseys were still blank. the same like with old roster updates.

do i need to enter some codes?

they are blank because there are no iff files. there are no iff files because I think we got in trouble by leaking out the East/West jerseys last year and presumably the patch will include these missing files. the reason people are playing with them is because we've downloaded the missing uniforms from patchers and renamed them so the game will recognize the uniforms.

QA stands for Quality Assurance, basically testing.

I wonder if the patch will be available for Steam users at the same time when it's released...

I think the QA will take less than 2 weeks then after QA they will send it to microsoft for approval then it will take a month to release... ugh!! they should gave us the date when will that patch release . .

....why would they send it to M$? this isn't a games for windows live game

it needs to run through QA then theoretically it can be released on their website. the problem can be if they try to coordinate a simultaneous release with the disc based game, the steam version, the gamersgate version, the direct drive version etc etc etc

damn.. why is this patch takes too long to release unlike other games . .

I miss the old days when patches were released without all this QA stuff. Hell I remember games releasing multiple patches in a week.

This thought popped into my head... What the hell is QA doing, if 2k still releases patch will glitches... (Centers taking 3's etc)

As I said before, it can easily take up to a month. Quality Assurance is a slow process and not at all dependant on the developers themselves and most of the QA team is usually tied up with other, newer project or projects at the same time.

As for centers taking threes, this is quite often not spotted by the QA team, as many of the QA team don't really know much about basketball or NBA in general. They tend to notice obvious things like bugs in the menu's and other gameplay glitches. Seriously, some of them would not have any idea that Shaq is not that great a 3 point shooter. Some of the QA might know more about basketball and they'll point out more relevant issues to NBA rules and realism, but whether these things create enough waves to be fixed is a whole other thing, since in general the only thing fixed are game critical bugs, which 3pt shooting centers aren't from publishers standpoint (who pays for the QA).

As for the 3pt problem, it is obvious that this will not be fixed (from Twitter, two days ago):

Never had an issue with big men taking 3s. I'm quite sure it's not a bug, but something that could be easily fixed by tweaking player ratings and sliders.

its a post 2nd patch issue resolved by turning off player roles in association mode

My wife works for Sony Software and she says that they have deadline for QA and there is a date they have to get it done and release it. The bad thing is we don't know the date so the date could be Feb. or end of March. Unfortunaltey, she says the deadline sometimes hurt the consumer because it lead to poorer quality and bugs not be accounted for. They better fix the inablity to sign adn trade players in season mode..if they did it for console and not PC, I would be pissed.

nah! i think we should give up now on waiting for that patch, no other pc games that has a patch that comes out longer like 2k10 pc patch ..

there is no certification process for PC patches, it just has to go through their in-house QA and then it's released on websites and distributed through the various distribution businesses like Steam/Direct Drive/Gamersgate.

the only similarities between the PC and console patches are the fixes....that's it.

Yes I agree, Let's just wait and not give 2K anymore problems Cuz I'm sure they are really trying to get it out "ASAP" Sorry, just had to laugh though... But yes I'm positive we don't need to give them anymore problems than what they have now. "patience is a virtue"
