Is this worth buying?

I've downloaded the demo, and wasn't that impressed, particularly with the fast break game - they seem to have removed the 'throw to the furthest player down the court' button (either that or it wasn't the same button as in 2k9), and players would continually stop to catch the ball rather than continuing down the court, resulting in breakaway dunks turning into no shot attempt. Is it that bad in the game, and do they have the 'pass to furthest player down the court' button?

The main reason I gave up on 2k9 last year was the uselessness of the penetration game. The CPU was shoving players out of its way in mid air on its way to the basket, whereas I could fake a guy into the air on the elbow, only to ice skate for a bit so as to allow him back on to the floor to take a charge one step closer to the basket. Is it any fairer this year?

Anything else they've added/removed/changed that I should know about? Smaller, gameplay-related things, I'm not to concerned with My Player and such, since reviews tend to bang on about them anyway, I'm more concerned with things those reviews may not necessarily mentioned.

It's possible to break down the defense with good ball movement, but I think the things you mentioned are in 2k10.
The computer still needs to cheat to reach human level.
I can only speak from a my player perspective, but in that it is possible to get inside throughout the game. Not with default sliders and foul settings however.

There's really never going to be a sports videogame that plays perfectly right out of the box, obviously sliders have to be fiddled with.

I'm not really concerned with being able to break the defense down with ball movement, just with the user's team's predilection for letting the defense get (back) in front of them all the time, whether it be stopping for no reason on a break or taking the first three steps of a drive in the one spot.

I havent really had any issues with players stopping to catch passes on fast breaks

the only issue I've had is trying to do half court passes with my center and watching the ball sail out of bounds, but that is more my fault than anything
Opinions are my own.

I haven't had the issue with players stopping, either. As long as they are running and not jogging and you use icon lead passing they should catch the ball on the move. What's this "'throw to the furthest player down the court' button?" I've never heard of it.

I haven't had those penetration issues. I think I had a couple in 2K9 until I got used to the system. I would pumpfake and if the defender bit on it I would try to go straight through him which didn't work, but if I went left or right I got around him easy. Never had a player get back in front of me after beating him off the dribble, though.

icon pass and I want to say the dual player control button threw the ball to the player closest to the basket, but i always use icon passing anyway

You didn't read my location, did you?

Nothing's worth any amount of money if I'm going to play it once, and then immediately give up on it.

I get the impression that being Down Under is a shite place for gamers considering the prices and censorship. (see the fuss regarding the Australian version of Left 4 Dead 2 and GTA 4).
