Roster updates and Association mode

Just wondering: If I were to start an Association with the current rosters, i.e. McGrady and Yao Ming being injured, how will that affect my Association? Would that mean that when I start the Association they will still be injured and not in the team's roster? Would they come back after a while or how will it work? I can't load new rosters with them in the rotation half-way through the season right?
