Hall of Fame Slider Released

Postby atomicat10 on Wed Oct 21, 2009 9:58 pm

I'm still on the process of perfecting it but this has vastly improved my gaming enjoyment playing at Hall of Fame difficulty.

Disclaimer:tested only on 12 minute Laker games on the ROAD.

Features:

-Games are winnable as I was able to win by 4 on the road vs. the Magic (I used the LAkers) although Rashard Lewis separated shoulder kept him out of the game.

-EQUAL individual slider values for both User and CPU (this somehow clears the conscience, )

-Close games. User/CPU might go up 10-15 points but comebacks are very doable and that means exciting finishes.

-Fouls can now be used as a weapon. You have Lebron flying for the breakaway jam and you need to stop him, what do you do? Foul him and make him earn it from the line, that's how. Since the virtual players always go for the ball there is no 2 free throws and possession penalty. Again, attempt a steal and 80% of the time a foul will be called thus saving you the easy 2 points.

-Players AI from both sides would commit hard fouls against people driving in and this is a sight to behold as you see players being floored. No more easy baskets or less of them.

-Teams get into foul penalty and players do get into foul trouble, this means-realism. When the CPU gets into penalty early, I use Kobe to continuously fish for the fouls and let them pay from the free throw line gimmes. I drive more because fouls are called in favor of the players on the offense just like in the real game. I had Dwight Howard (CPU) in foul trouble, I drove in and challenge him to give another foul, what does he do? He shows up BUT backs off from committing another . The next dead ball, SVG puts him on the bench, wow. The fouls aspect of the game is crucial to the game of basketball an it is in full effect here.

-There are more and 1's.

-You can't cheat and drive to the hoop like crazy because offensive fouls are in full effect and are called. Besides, I found it not so easy to drive to the basket.

-Offensive Rebounds are kept to a minimum but when they do, CPU would kick them out to the perimeter most of the time and restart their offense, whew!

-I'm still working on it but the CPU miss shots (duh), not stupid ones but those misses we expect they make (what?) When playing, you somehow feel relaxed knowing that you will be rewarded when you play D unlike before that you had a feeling no matter how you D up, the CPU would STILL make their shots. Still, CPU still shoots around 60%FG but around 45% 3PT FG.

-The perimeter game is ON. You will be rewarded if you swing the ball to the open player on the perimeter as they will knock them down, consistently.

-The Inside game is easy but not unstoppable, ball movement is still, a must.

-Less alley oops, less put back slams, less fast break points but still consistent with actual NBA stats in general.

-AI opponent and team mate are dependable for blocks but if you attempt to block a player driving to the basket, most of the time a foul would be called against you.

-There are instances,CPU opponent would not run plays and would act dumb and let the shot clock run down with the ball in their hands, shooting it only before the shot clock expires. I'll try to eliminate this.

-Your team mates will flop and attempt to get a turnover.

-3 second calls are called both ways consistently.

-You can force a turnover by playing good D as you may steal or disrupt a pass.

-Less fatigue, this is the NBA and the only team that has a legal excuse to get fatigued is the Nuggets because of the high altitude at Denver (hence more oxygen demand) and yet they are among the fast breaking leaders in The league. So, less fatigue. :applaud:

That's it, for the meantime.

I'm gonna play the Laker's first 10 season opponents using the latest official roster update from 2K.

I started by beating the Clippers and it was a nail biter. As you can see FG% are still higher than in actual games but let's be reminded that this is at Hall of Fame. I somehow cheesed my way inside cause I can't help it, Gasol was unstoppable! But as you can see 34 points and 10 rebounds are not out of reach for Pau. What I'm worried about is the percentage-17 of 21 shots. Inside shots and close shots sliders are at 49 (CPU and User) I would rather have this than see players missing from point blank range. Let's see if Pau can still dominate in the next game against the Mavericks.

Here are the stats:

Dunks are still in

Yup, I know the scores are really high as of this moment but if it helps, my game speed is at 60 cause I find the default too slow.

I might lower it to 55 and see what happens.

I play a pure man to man defense with doubling and pressure settings all in AUTO. I'm not a defense nut cause at HOF difficulty, it's very frustrating and I know a lot of you guys would agree.

First quarter scores were ok, right? 26-19 :D

Thanks for the comments and keep them coming.

I'm not gonna share this until I fix the high scores and the high FG%.

I was able to beat the Mavs on a come from behind win. Final score was 125-123.

I let Ron Artest shoot the 3 with 30 secs remaining for the tie, surprisingly (Artest is shitty on this game)he drills it. The Mavs misses on their final play leaving me with 5.9 secs. Timeout then gave the ball to the Black Mamba. He gets doubled on top and I see TruWarier slide inside so I fed the ball to him for the difficult reverse layup against the German. Last hail mary from the Mavs was not even close, game-Lakers.

Artest won the game but Dirk had like 41 points on like 80 % shooting from the field.

I kept the speed at 60 as it is my only preferred level.

No stats this time as I failed to enable Fraps before I played the game.

Hey, atomicat10, can you just upload your rosters, so other people could give you some opinions about tweaking this sliders. However, I'm really interested in it.

Kobe erupted against the Thuggets at the Pepsi Center. HOF 12 minutes 60 game speed. Instead of lowering the shot success, I increased it to unlock the midrange game so I don't have to go inside regularly. Kobe's one dribble pull up jumper is now a thing of beauty. I was surprised Denver collapsed in the 4th. JR Smith was throwing bricks at the 3 point area with the slider at default 50  Bynum was big down the stretch.

3 more games against the beasts in the east (Cavs, Magic and the Celtics) then I'll release this HOF Slider.

BTW once I release the slider, it's the final version. I'll just leave the tweaking to your liking.

So no more version this, version that. Once released, it's the final version.

The number of rebounds is a little to small, I think. And a field Goal percentage is too big. Some tweaks in Second Chance Points and Fast break needed.

I can't believe I lost this fucker, I mean look at it. I managed to limit the Celtics to 89 points before the start of the 4th and was winning throughout the game then the CPU decided to outscore me by 14 to win by 3.

I guess I'm gonna have to live with the high scores and high shooting percentage, after all this is Hall of Fame. It won't be called that way if players keep on shooting bricks or missing layups. It also looks and feels more realistic if the best players in the world can hit those jumpers rather than see them shoot uncharacteristically poor.

1 more game against the Cavs.

Dare I say that the AI cheats, cause it happened again like the game against Boston the CPU decided to flip the switch in the 4th quarter. I'm ahead by 8, then AI poured 43 points in the 4th on me. 43 points!

Tip on defense: Never leave the point guard, this will disrupt their set plays.

Thanks.

You've seemed to put in some work on these with testing in all, I would love to try them but the only problem is I have it for PS3. Would you mind posting a screenshot of the sliders. I would really be grateful.
