NBA 2K10 sound issue - no ball bounce sound on the court

Hi there,

Since I just recently played a scrimmage (a mode, where crowd and PA sounds are not present), I noticed that I am missing sounds of ball bounce (except in one part of the court) during any type of game, however all other sounds are present.

Soundcard: Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Xtreme Music (latest drivers (driver version 2.18.13) installed)
OS: Win 7 x64

I tried the following:

In the "speaker" properties under the Sound Blaster tab the "Disable Sound Blaster Enhancements" box needs to be unchecked. In the Sound Blaster settings EAX Effects, XFi-CMSS3D and XFi Crystalizer all need to be unchecked.

however it did not solve anything.

The awkward thing is that in one part of the court (see the picture: part of the court marked with red color) all sounds are present, including sound of the the ball bounce.


Any other ideas, how to solve this?

p.s. I remember having this issue in NBA 2K9, where I could solve it while entering dxdiag.exe and changing sound acceleration from FULL to NORMAL, however in Win 7 dxdiag.exe does not allow you to change sound acceleration mode.

It translates legacy DirectSound calls into OpenAL. Sadly this doesn't work for people like me who have realtek onboard audio, so I hope they'll patch it soon

aaaaaah, I actually missed out in one older 2k sports forum thread that someone already posted this as a solution.

I installed Alchemy on my Win 7 x64, added an entry for NBA 2K10 and it fixed the game perfectly! Thank you!!!! It appears that some other sounds besides the squeaking of the shoes and the ball may also be fixed by this... the horn going off during the replays for instance. All the sounds are now played perfectly. You rock!!!!

Anyhow, thanks a lot . At least I can confirm that Creative Alchemy solves this issue for Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Xtreme Music.
Now I hear ball bounce and even more new sounds

What new sounds are there????I'm planning to dual boot with xp to solve this annoying issue .

im having the same problem and im also using realtek onboard audio. do u know how i can fix this ball bounce prob? thanks man

can i also use this in creative sound blaster 5.1 VX? and im on windows XP. thanks.

After solving this issue. I noticed that I previously was also missing shoe sound and few sounds, which are not that substantial, for example, a horn sound going off during replay.
