NBA Live 08 DBF Editing Guides

Postby Andrew on Wed Jun 04, 2008 4:44 am

It's been a long time coming but the NBA Live 08 DBF Editing Guides are now available, covering the additional fields added since NBA Live 07. You can find them in the NBA Live 08 subsite. If you have any additions or corrections to the NBA Live 08 guides or any of the DBF guides on the individual subsites, please let me know via email or the NLSC Forum.

Indeed, Hot Spots are about the only new fields in the databases. All the same, I've been intending to do the guides for a while but it's one of those things that kept being pushed aside for other things. Procrastination is a bad habit of mine. :(

Very good work!
This is true, only new fields are HS and, of course, the sigshots, very important for customize the players.
Thanks for credits!

You don't need to download the DBF Guides.

Can someone please tell, what I have to do, to edit Chris Kaman to my Germany National Team Roster? What Program do I need? Can someone give me a tutorial on that? Or to update the Team USA Roster for the Olympic Tournament?

The process is the same as editing the All-Star teams, though you'll be using the ID number for the German team instead of the East and West All-Stars.

Hey Andrew!
Good day!

I need to have a better DBF editor.
Which I can use like MS Excel, you know sort here, filter there and conditional sorts.
Do you know a better DBF editor the the commander pro 2000?

Thanks! 8-)

I think DBF Viewer Pro might offer that function.

Sir Andrew, I would like to edit a particular team's Offensive & Defensive Play. I have already checked it out in the Teams DBF Editing Guide but when I opened the teams.dbf file with DBC2000, the parameters are using numeric codes. Where can I secure these codes? Thanks...

You can find them in plays.dbf.

If you open plays.dbf, you'll see the name of the play under the PLAYSET column, matched up with their respective ID numbers.

Andrew,

Can you DBF edit a dynasty that's in progress. For example I want to add Michael Finley to the Spurs, (he's in the free agent pool), is this possible or will it F up my dynasty? Also if he wasn't already a free agent, could I use DBF editor to engineer a trade, eg. say a trade goes down in the NBA at the trade deadline could I DBF edit my dynasty roster to reflect the trade, I like to keep things current. Thanks in advance.

You certainly can, the key thing to remember is make a backup so if something does go wrong, you haven't lost anything. :)

I am kind o f newbie, but is there a way to copy a player in dbf commander as a whole, and not just manually copy every value?

Another question: I've deleted a player in the dbf players by mistake, but he is still in the game rostrers. He is kind of stuck in limbo, I can't edit him in Dbf commander, and I can't remove him from the Greek team. What do I do?

Actually, scratch that. It's really bothersome, I can't edit the Greek team correctly. Faces and other stuff are getting messed up. It keeps giving a certain face, height and weight to one of my created players and when I try to edit it crashes.

Error#: -70

Can you help?

FYI, it's preferable to edit your previous post rather than quadruple posting. Thanks. :)

I would recommend starting over with your editing as it's unlikely you'll be able to continue using that file. I would also recommend deleting all the files in the workingdb folder as the game will refresh them with the default files and fix that error you're getting.
