With the release of the NBA LIVE 10 demo there was a lot of discussion about which basketball game would take the crown. But since the release of the full game it is becoming less of a question and more of a clear choice. Whether it’s core gameplay, online play, presentation or innovative features like Dynamic DNA, Dynamic Season and LIVE Run, NBA LIVE 10 is now holding court. Yes, there are still haters out there but that’s changing. If you don’t believe us, just check out what other people are saying about NBA LIVE 10 and doing with their copy of the “other game”:

“Well, after playing this game for some time now, you take the good you take the bad, and I take the game of hoops. I will go on record and say that I love LIVE a lot, man the game is just flat out fun, fun, fun.

Again great job EA and I can’t wait to see what we have in store for next year.”

- FootballForever

“I’m definitely enjoying this game more than the “other” one. I think my 2k will be put on craigslist with the proceeds from the transaction going towards NCAA Basketball 10. This game isn’t perfect by any means, but it’s a very good game with addictive gameplay.”

- DW3

“I was still skeptical, and doubting, after buying this game. I went back and played the 2K10 demo…..and couldn’t believe I still prefer LIVE 10. It’s crazy. But, players seem much more alive in this game.”

- LAKE4742

“I can’t stop playing this game i am hooked, good bye 2k garbage.”

- kwf28

“This is the greatest LIVE, better than 2003. Graphics and presentation are great, gameplay is so fluid, and the difficulty is a bit challenging with custom sliders, accurate player likenesses and playing styles. 10/10 my review.”

- K DA MAST3R3MIND

“This is by far the best basketball game I have ever played. While there are some things I would like to see, overall this is such an improvement over previous years. The competitiveness is second to none, in years past it became easy to figure out ways to score, consistently with certain players. Now it’s all about the match-ups and how open you are. Most of the games are really close right up to the end.”

- dg421

“The game is amazing, top notch. Thanks EA!”

- sgwierdo

“I’ve always been a 2k fan and I bought 2k10 today…. I played it for 30 minutes and returned it for LIVE because it was so terrible.

LIVE 10 is the best basketball game I’ve ever played.”

- gates33

How about all those people who didn’t buy NBA LIVE 10 out of the game, are they content with the game? Judging from these guys here, they don’t seem so happy with their purchase since they’re looking to trade up for NBA LIVE:

People are getting rid of the “other game” for a host of reasons. Whether it’s the same gameplay from last year or just a host of technical reasons there are several reasons as to why people are turning to NBA LIVE 10. Just read what this disgruntled customer had to say:

First, let me start by saying congratulations on making it 10 years in the business. I was a huge fan of the 2K series on the Dreamcast, and I have some very fond memories of playing what were, at the time, the best NBA and NFL games on the market.

Now, 10 years later I have to ask - what happened?

I haven’t played a 2K game in a while. In fact, last year was the first time I bought an NBA game in years, and I bought LIVE ‘09. This year, however, the group of guys who I usually game with online decided it was time for a change. Prompted by our fond recollections of the Dreamcast days, we all decided to buy 2K10. Big mistake.

The core group of us who play online are very busy and have to fit playing time in when we can, amidst jobs, wives, kids, and obligations of all kinds. When we shell out our ever-decreasing disposable income on a game, we expect it to work right out of the box. I know, stupid us, right? We’re in a time now when developers and publishers can just push out a product to hit their target release date and then tell the poor saps who bought the unfinished work, “don’t worry, there’s a patch for that.” Now, glitchy game-play with slow-down and bugs (I’m on the PS3, and I can tell you that the 360 owners aren’t the only ones with glitch issues) and the lack of an online presence is accepted because hey, it should be fixed eventually. Never mind the fact that I have to wait a week or more to actually have the experience I should have had from day one.

The worst part about it is, gamers aren’t mad as hell, and they just sit back and take it. My friends and I actually had some time last night when we could all go online to play our shiny new 2K sports game. Except, uh-oh, no online. I went to various message boards to see if others were having this same problem. They were, and the reactions were ridiculous. People were suggesting exactly what I said above - that people who have a problem with essentially paying $60 for what amounts to a beta version of a game whose online doesn’t work should “STFU” because it will be fixed. Probably. At some indeterminate point in the future.

Well, I just wanted to write and let you know that I’m not a fanboy. When I pay for a game, I want the game to work as it should on day one.

I know I probably won’t get it, but I want my money back for this cheat of a gaming experience. It’s time to start holding companies responsible for pushing crap product and trying to make up for it on the back end.

I’ll end with another congratulations, as in, “Congratulations, you’ve just lost a customer.” (Four or five, actually, from the small core group of us who game together).

Sincerely,

Jesse Lee

The choice is clear, you want a great basketball game that plays a gives you a great 5 on 5 experience, NBA LIVE 10 is your only destination.

Get on the bus and make the jump to NBA LIVE 10 this year. In fact, tell us your story of making the switch to NBA LIVE 10 and we’ll feature it in the In the Paint blog. The future of NBA LIVE is looking bright and it’s only going to get better from here. As the regular season begins and Dynamic DNA updates begin to kick off keep it tuned to EASPORTS.com to get your fix of NBA LIVE 10 and hear from others that have decided to make the change.

Never seen a hostile blog from EA Sports before. I wonder if there is some bad blood going on behind the scenes between the development teams.

I would say it's in response to some of the Tweets and Forum posts by 2K's Community Manager, which have gone a little far regardless of the quality of either game. Such an approach can lead to pettiness on both sides, but so long as the energy of that competitive spirit is put back into each game, it can only mean good things for the consumer.
