Michael Jordan, The HOF, and NBA LIVE 10

Sun Sep 13, 2009 12:18 am

I was thinking, no jokes fellas, now that "THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER EVER" has now been inducted in the Hall of Fame, will he now be a playable character in Live 10 or future installments? I know that he had some sort of players association agreement that prevented this so now that he is in the HOF this should change that right? I am also for the COMPLETE retirement of the number 23. If they cant change the logo of the NBA to the "jumpman" :-) The NBA needs to pay homage to him by retiring those digits. LeBron....get ready to bow the real king..........with all do respect.

You overrate Jordan. Anyways, HOF isn't NBA, it's basketball in general so covers college, international, women's etc. Only way MJ & Barkley will end up in game is if they join the retired player's association or whatever it's called. But that ain't gonna happen.

Yep and that´s another reason why the NBA needs it´s own HOF.

Theres no way to "overrate" Jordan my friend. I could say he is arguable the best player to play the game but there really isnt an arguement. He IS the best baskeball player. MJ won NBA and scoring titles, olympic medals, and set NBA records, he also elevated the sports popularity GLOBALLY. There isnt a player past or present that has come close to that. I do need to do a little research and figure out the rules about retired players and likeness rights.

I would call him one of the greatest ever, definitely the greatest ever SG, and definitely the best of his era.

Your obsession with Cedric Ceballos has gone too far, good sir. ;)

In any case, as has already been pointed out it's all a matter of likeness rights and licensing. OldFoolStyle posted a great summary of the situation a couple of months back here in the NBA Live 10 section.

Previous #23's and their clams to fame

Cedric Ceballos = the fake blindfold dunk.................

Ron Artest = the brawl at the Palace

Mitch Richmond = getting ripped by Micheal frequently

Alex English = retired

Calvin Murphy = retired

(Both not even in the same class as Mike)

Lebron James = "The King" - but acknowledes THE REAL KING and said he would hang up his number!!

RETIRE THE NUMBER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know...it would be a tremendous show of respect and the NHL did that for Wayne Gretzky but I personally don't think it's a necessary gesture at this point.

I know, I know. ;) But in all seriousness, it's too common a number and I think players should be able to wear it in honour of Michael Jordan if they wanted.

Where did that thing about retiring 23 start? Any links or stuff?
But yeah if they are retiring anyone it should be him as he didnt just play in the NBA, he was the NBA...
