Talk about NBA Live 10 here.

New instalment of
10 for 10 is available to read
here. This time, I'm looking at presentation.
Welcome back and thanks for checking out the fourth instalment of the
10 for 10 series. Just in case you're not sure what this is all about, in the 10 for 10 feature I'm looking at ten things I'd like to see in different areas of NBA Live 10 in terms of fixes, improvements or additions. In the first three instalments I covered
gameplay,
Dynasty Mode and
online play. Today, I'm looking at presentation.
Please note that this instalment was ready to go before the slew of previews came out last week so some of the things I talk about have actually been confirmed for the game. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the article.

saw my name a few times in there
hopefully I will have time this week to pick apart each of your features Andrew, but so far they all look like they hit the right points for each article

I think game renderings are a must for rookies, created players and any other players without portraits. I just HATE how they use generic player portraits for all created rookies. You get a few years into a dynasty & all the player portraits are the same. Absolutely terrible.
I would agree about the feet/pound measurements over metric. We are not in Europe. Why not give the user the option in game settings to choose between the two?

A toggle setting wouldn't be a bad idea but I think they could get away with the imperial system in all versions. NBA Live 09 was the first time that's been an issue for the Australian release and I'm sure some will think it a small issue but I just found it so distracting.

It goes back to the authenticity of the NBA brand of basketball. If I was playing a Euro League bball game, I would expect it to be in metric. It's NBA so imperial should be the way.

Exactly.
Forgot to reply to your other point. I agree that the game renderings are fine for generated rookies and I should have qualified myself there. But for the original players, using actual photos is much better in my opinion. Admittedly the faces are looking pretty good this year but they're still not quite at the stage where they could be mistaken for real photos, so until technology has evolved to that point I'd definitely prefer real photos for the real players and renderings for generated rookies.

No lines referencing video game controls in the commentary
Thank you for mentioning this. It was also something I mentioned at OS when they were asking for audio ideas.
A couple of automatic instant replay issues
Borrowing from 2k9 by replaying Vince Carters huge dunk at the next stop ball might be a good idea as well.
Player details
Kind of a gameplay thing, but along with signature animations, I'd like to see modification of animations based on ratings. So LeBron may have the same dunk in his dunk pack as Devin Harris, but whem LeBron does it, he will jump higher and cock the ball back further than Harris.
Jon's other idea was to have the option of streaming some ESPN video content during gameplay as well, sort of as a commercial break or a bumper as ESPN does with their news round up after returning from a commercial break. That might not be for everyone and it would definitely have to be something we could toggle on and off, but I'd have to agree that it would be a pretty cool use of the ESPN license.
Thanks for the mention

No worries, I was quite glad of the idea as I was running a bit low on them when it came to presentation.

Hopefully, they'll be completely gone with the attention that's been paid to the atmosphere this year. That's not to say that when you're missing lobs in the dunk contest, Ernie Johnson and Greg Anthony shouldn't suggest that the
player should have practised their dunks more before getting to the contest, that's fine but references to practice modes and instruction books have become cringe-worthy.
