Player's Court: Test out your moves with the best NBA players in new, cutting edge basketball facility

The only one that has be wondering if they will be expanding the 2 court academy facility to more courts or if they will shrink it down to 1 court with off the court stuff to do.

yea I read about that. I also read some of the psp features. i don't have a psp so i don't know what features it had last year but it sounds like the be a pro mode was improved on the psp. Here is what it said.

With new camera angles and the spotlight always on you, groom yourself into becoming the next NBA superstar as 30 levels of achievement-based incentives help you develop into the ultimate pro.

do you think this could mean we will have a full be a pro mode soon on the ps3 or 360?

Some thoughts:

Dynamic DNA: Player and team updates based on real-world performance are transferred in-game every day. Current trades, injuries, player tendencies, streaks, and more provide the most up-to-date experience every time you hit the court.

Looks like the big addition to Dynamic DNA this year is still under wraps. My guess is still that it has something to do with Dynasty Mode, because incorporating the daily updates into a mode that is its own reality and people might not be able to play every day would be quite a feat. Of course, I could be way off but in introducing the concept of daily official updates they already did something pretty big last year, the teething problems aside.

Play in a Playoff Atmosphere: Play in a Playoff Atmosphere—Feel the emotion and intensity grow as players, crowds, and bench react to every dramatic situation. The electricity inside the arena intensifies dynamically based on rivalry games, time of year, and what’s on the line.

Sounds good, but it's making me wonder if that means the return of the standalone Playoffs Mode in addition to a revamp of the presentation and the overall "atmosphere" that will be seen in playoff games. That would certainly be a welcome return, if so.

5 vs. 5 Online Team Play: All 10 ballers on the court can now be controlled by users on 10 different consoles around the world. Now the game outcome can be completely dependent on how you play as an online squad.

Sounds much the same as last year to me but it's an online feature worth mentioning, as OTP is pretty cool.

Pick and Roll Control: Take control over both the ball handler and the screener, as you execute this fundamental two man play. Select who sets the screen, and choose whether the screener slips or rolls towards the hoop then hit them with the perfect pass or make your move.

Again, sounds much the same as last year though it looks like we might have more control over which player comes over to set the screen which is handy. So long as the controls aren't contrived and get the job done, the more control we have over the action on the court the better.

Extend Your Game with EASPORTS.com: Create your own highlight mix then upload the video to EASPORTS.com to show off your baller skills.

To me, that sounds like we'll be getting some extended features in the replay recording and editing mode, obviously the ability to create mixes and upload them instead of just standalone videos. That'd be cool, especially if we can add a variety of effects such as different transitions and the like before we upload any mix videos.

Dynasty Mode: Take control of your favourite franchise from plays on the court to moves in the front office. Guide the team to a title, or a run of titles, it’s all up to you.

Nothing new revealed there, but as a Dynasty player I always like to hear that it mentioned amongst the key features. I just find it reassuring, as it's a mode I definitely don't want to see get pushed to the background as much as online play is popular these days.

Player's Court: Test out your moves with the best NBA players in new, cutting edge basketball facility

As Jon mentioned in the other thread, that sounds like a revamped NBA Academy. I liked the Academy and thought it was something that should be built upon, so if that's the case then I'm glad it hasn't been removed and that it's received some attention. I definitely prefer the atmosphere of the practice court approach to the "temple" of NBA Live 06 and NBA Live 07, though that concept was cool in its own right.

I'm more into the gameplay stuff, so I can't wait to test out this Playoff atmosphere. If the crowd reacts to Every Play accurately, and the gameplay is as good as they say it is, this game will be amazing. I might have to start Dynasty early

Interestingly enough, there are no new gimmicky features (yet), which might mean that their focus is actually on gameplay like they've said....we shall see....I'll eagerly be awaiting the PS3 demo....

The returning Dynamic DNA is about the most gimmicky thing on there and really, the only thing gimmicky about that is the name because it's intent is to do what we've always wanted: have the virtual players playing like their real life counterparts. Of course, everything sounds gimmicky when you look at the names they've developed for marketing purposes. Freestyle Superstars wasn't a bad idea in theory and ran along the lines of what we were asking for in the Wishlists (better distinction between stars and lesser players, the ability to perform more moves on cue and so forth) but ultimately it just didn't turn out the way we would've liked.

The Playoffs sound very good this year. In live 09 the crowd wasn't different at all from regular season or playoffs. good to hear they improved that.

Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:32 am

iirc the crowd does wear more of the team's colors but nothing like real life or what 10 is offering

Did anyone else notice three new features on the ps3 features page?

The Hangar: better training facility
Dynamic Season: no info yet
Live Run: No info yet

I'm assuming dynamic season is playing a season at the same time as real life using DNA
I havent got a clue what live run is.

Well spotted. (Y) "Dynamic Season" may well indicate a seperate season mode that incorporates the daily updates. That'll be interesting to see if that's the case.

Hanger, can't really have a whole hanger without multiple courts

Dynamic Season sounds exactly what you guys said, probably with leaderboards with correct predictions or something like that.

Live Run, only thing that comes to mind is "open run" from the AND1 things. I could see this be a massively multiplayer thing where you play pickup (pickem) games with stars or CAPs (or Be a Pros!)

ah shit, the excitement, it's back.

I am eager to see the Playoff Atmosphere feature. Hopefully the commentary is updated to go with this feature and not just the atmosphere.

just saw the new features they just put up today, and im disapointed that they still dont have skills challenge or the shooting stars in the allstar weekend.

Re: NBA Live '10 Official Features List

Thu Jul 23, 2009 3:38 am

they cant since sony pretty much owns it. sony sponsored it from day 1 which is why those appear in their first party games and not in 2k or live

damn that sucks

Pretty smart move by them, actually. Are they any good in Sony's game?

never played it i just wanted to see every event at the allstar weekend like real life

Since the list on the official site has changed, I've updated the list in the first post. Also of note is the mention of 24 FIBA teams which is identical to last year, suggesting that there might be some rotations of a few teams (and presumably updated rosters) rather than further additions. Of course, it could be another placeholder feature that's just been taken from last year's list in the meantime so I guess we should take it with a grain of salt for now.

My heat sunk when I read that....it could be a deciding factor in my purchase decision....New Zealand must be on the list (even though I know they won't be) for the integrity of the FIBA ideal....

Re: NBA Live '10 Official Features List

Thu Jul 23, 2009 9:10 pm

Really? Even if - for argument's sake - the game delivered in all other facets?

Re: NBA Live '10 Official Features List

Thu Jul 23, 2009 9:32 pm

If game delivered in all other facets then I could overlook the omission :P

That being said, I'm not expecting the game to do that....at present, I have absolutely no desire to buy NBA 2k10 as I already have 2k9 for online gaming with a mate & 2k8 for importing draft classes from College Hoops 2k8....it will likely be much the same....which leaves me with either NCAA Basketball '10 or NBA Live '10 or no bball games this year....if Live can deliver something fresh with top notch gameplay & an improved Dynasty mode, then I (like a lot of old Live faithful) can be won over....

My statement was made on my belief that Live '10 will be only slightly better than Live '09 & will be a 50-50 proposition for me....when something is 50-50 with me, something as feeble as having my country of birth in the game could be the deciding factor....I did after all buy FIFA '08 for the sole reason that they had included A League in the game....I ended up selling FIFA '08 a couple of months later as the draw of the A League couldn't overcome the average gameplay, but that's besides the point as EA managed to get a sale that they otherwise definitely would not have got....I did actually think long & hard about getting Live '09 last year & almost did buy it but went with 2k9 instead....I think if they had the Tall Blacks in there, I may have been swayed the other way....

All this rambling aside, I am not holding my breath on EA changing their lineup to cater for one 50-50 buyer  It does suck that a Division B Euro team like England can make the cut though :?:

Re: NBA Live '10 Official Features List

Fair enough. I do agree that New Zealand should be in the game, trans-Tasman rivalries aside. ;) I have a feeling the features list will change a few times as more information is cleared to be revealed, it could well be a placeholder and I wouldn't be surprised if they rotate the teams.

As for NBA Live '10 being markedly better than NBA Live 09 (or not), I think it could be. I think Mike Wang's presence on the team will have an impact on the gameplay, I've only met him once but he really seems determined to make things right (one of the first things he asked me was what I didn't like, rather than what I did at the community day last year). I believe he came on board too late last year to really have a big impact on NBA Live 09 but he's been there right from the start with '10, so I must admit I have high hopes for '10.
