It may be a good thing. . .maybe they should drop some video play lol

Cost saving could be part of the reason tough economic times or rather present their titles in their own terms/ways.
Plus there would be a fair amount of work going in to setting up the presentation and the teams would rather focus on getting the game done.
Was my reasoning behind it.

I agree and I am glad that they would rather focus their resources on the game itself. They can release the marketing videos and game info periodically like they normally do.

Indeed, I doubt it will leave us wanting for info. E3's lost a lot of its prestige anyway.

NOT being at E3 is a great sign as this means they are actually adding some major things/upgrades to the game. 2K often never revelaed anything untill last minute, so im assuming Live is going to be adding a ton of new animations, upgrades and graphic enancement...im siked

I wouldn't have made that connection myself, though I don't think their absence from E3 is cause for concern either.

Yeah, they weren't even at E4All last year. Just a demo of Madden on the PS3. Although, last year they added a big thing to Live 09, and were at E3 talking about the game and the technology. This year they aren't adding anything as big as DNA or 365, but working more to improve the shortcomings and have most likely added things that didn't make it into the final build of 09 due to deadlines.

It pretty much has to been a cost saving move.. IMO

And we'll still get the info one way or another.

Eh? With who?

I guess that was a bit too much of a sweeping statement. What I mean is it's no longer the be-all, end-all event for finding out news and info on upcoming games with all the community interaction that goes on with developers these days. Q&As and producer blogs keep us informed in lieu of grand displays at E3.

Here is a new "twit" or what ever its called by Marcus on his twitter page regarding EA at E3 and NBA Live 10.
Big day for EA SPORTS. MMA announced, Madden 10 Online Franchise and NCAA Football 10 Team Builder. And NBA LIVE info comes soon! (not E3)
Tue Jun 02, 2009 3:30 pm
That should mean we can start up the Q&A sessions before too long.

Here is a bit more I just spotted at the Operation Sports forums
Hey guys,
I know as you saw our press conference you were all thinking the same thing. (at least I hope you were ) "It's weird not to see NBA LIVE here."
While I certainly agree that it was weird not to see our game in the spotlight of E3, it's with good reason, trust me. We're preparing to come at all of you with the freshest NBA LIVE perspective we hope you've ever seen from us.
We will begin the blitz very soon, and won't stop even after launch. It's a new time for NBA LIVE, and we're really excited to show you what we've been working so hard on. We had a long journey ahead of us when we started development, but with the right plan, people, and execution, we really think you'll see a difference. No fluff guys, we don't want to put any of that on you this year. Seeing is believing, and you'll see shortly. But we have a long ways to go, and information will be spread out, but we'll be providing you details that you guys crave through our interaction with all of you on here, other forums and of course, the Inside Blog.
It definitely looks like we're on the verge then.

What a bunch of absolutely terrible and useless PR bullshit.
I think I hate sports games more than anything anymore, especially since we hear the same crap every single year. From EA it's "seeing is believing" from 2K it's a revolutionary yet simple "gameplay change" and only one is actually putting out a game on a platform I own. Not to mention the games touting features that existed before but they scrapped in the past or existed in competitors.
It wasn't weird to not see NBA Live there, because what was there were games that mattered.
There is no reason for these games to not provide wire to wire, release to release gobs of coverage. Biggest American game show of the year and everyone is going behind closed doors or not bothering to appear.
Basketball games will never be actual good games until the devs bother like those in games that don't benefit from extensive community involvement. And until they bother to spend time on what decides basketball games, and then work from that to what makes a fun game.
(I almost take that back thinking about how people critique these games and analyze the actual game. You make an actual good basketball game, and it will be savaged in the press and on forums.)
