NBA Live '10 Cover Player Speculation

Seems as good a time as any to start up that discussion. For most of us, the game inside the box is more important but speculating on the cover player is always a fun talking point. So...any suggestions?

From what I understand about past attempts to get some of the top players on the cover, we can probably eliminate LeBron and Kobe due to the apparent expense of using their likenesses. I was to talking to Clueminati17 from the official forums and he suggested Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo and Devin Harris as possibilities. I think those are pretty good choices out of the gate, they're all young, up and coming players who should prove to be reasonably marketable and probably won't make the same kind of demands in exchange for the use of their likeness as more established stars who perhaps aren't as interested in appearing on the cover of a video game.

First one that came to mind was Rajon Rondo. EA has surprised us a few times, though. I think maybe Brandon Roy could get it.

I believe so, so we certainly couldn't rule that out.

Possibly Howard, Rose vs. Rondo in a two player cover, Durant, Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Lebron........................................or Matt Bonner dunking over Greg Oden (worst 1st pick since Kwame Brown. )

I couldn't disagree more. I think Oden has to be given a chance before he's written off as a bust. His production despite his limited minutes is quite impressive, fouls are a concern but I think that will improve. I wrote a column about that a couple of weeks ago, if anyone's interested. At any rate, I don't want to derail the thread so I'll leave it at that. Might be something to discuss in the NBA Talk section.

Gasol will probably be on the Spanish cover if nothing else. Shaq's always a possibility, they've yet to double up on a cover player of course but NBA Live 96 was a long time ago.

It's either Rajon Rondo or Derrick Rose.

apparently Lebron wants too much money and to be on the cover for a few years like 3-4yrs so that will most likely rule him and others like him out.

I see EA picking like a BRoy or someone similar for their coverboy I think that do have serious interests in using him they probably just waited until Blazers and himself were more mainstream.

Main candidates, what I think they would choose, would be Dwight or Roy, slightly less I think Granger, Rondo, Aldridge, Harris or even Jefferson could be.

This interview reveals that Roy is one of the players that's done mo-cap for NBA Live '10 so I think he's definitely a candidate worth mentioning.

I think you are forgetting Kevin Durant.. KD35 played great last season, he is young, talented and has tons of upsides.. He should be a great cover player...

Not Kevin Durant, I can't stand the OKC jerseys. Brandon Roy sounds good, but I want Derrick Rose on the cover.

Yuta Tabuse will be in the Japanese version.

With Brandoy Roy participating on this year's mo-cap, I think he will be this year's coverboy. Aside from him, i think they can give Rose and Granger a shot. Also I dont think that they can hire superstar players like Kobe Bryant because of salary issues.
