A Hangar tip I saw in the latest Ryan Santos video:

"Dunking: Pull and hold RT and press X to try and dunk the ball. Remember to keep the left stick held towards the basket."

TROPHIES?????

Postby qwomack74 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 3:13 am

Man been a long time since I have even considered buying a LIVE title. Been a fan since Lakers Vs. Celtics. GET SOME !!! Anyways, Im actually on the hype wagon for this one. Dont know if this has been asked but any word on possible trophies? I think with sports titles you have a bigger variety of ways to make tropies/accomplishments. Any thoughts or input?

Nothing's been mentioned yet but they did invite some community feedback on that. I'm guessing there'll be achievements/trophies relating to various NBA records as well as the standard championship in Dynasty Mode, player awards in Dynasty Mode and a few related to key gameplay features (Be a Pro, Rewind games, whatever Live Run and Dynamic Season turn out to be etc).

That is ridiculous if they don't. That is one feature in dynasty mode they need to have along with the in game save feature. 2K has had up to eight players who can play in an dynasty (association for years) . If Live really in my book wants to have a shot then they need to add this feature and not take away something great.

I don't entirely disagree, I think NBA Live needs that level of customisation and I'd like to see it back but Dynasty Mode is predominantly a single player mode so I understand their philosophy in keeping it locked to single team control. I'd argue that the ability to select a shorter season is a more pressing issue.

This is from Mike Wang on Operation Sports forums today in a thread about tip dunks/jams
Believe me, guys. If there was any way to get tip dunks in and working properly without sacrificing the core rebound work, we would have. It's not a trivial feature to put in however. You have my word it will be in 11.

Guess that answers the wider question about a Freestyle Air-like control, though some kind of put-backs (just not tip dunks, apparently) are in the game this year aren't they?

A pop-up box in the demo has confirmed the presence of a standalone Playoffs Mode, just in case anyone was still wondering.

I think the feature I most long for (aside from the annual rant about the actual gameplay) is one that the 2k series has finally brought back for their 2k10 PC edition, and that's the ability to go through a career mode for a single player of your creation.

Ah well. I'll rent this for the 360, because I'm intrigued and hopeful. And while the absence of legends is not something I'm keenly anticipating, I must say that the community here does a wonderful job accomodating that need, no question. I've never lacked the ability to stick a wicked Jordan into the game, so that keeps me happy. Heh, I can see myself adding a 40-something year old Jordan in there.

Anyway, it should be fun; I haven't played a Live game in quite some time, so I'm excited, even if 2011 seems to be the one I want.

EDIT: I AM definitely excited about the changes to the way the backboard is handled and Lockdown D.

Has any info been released on Dynasty mode? Or will nothing be changed? It's the mode I primarily play and where I most long to more depth. More managing, like ticket prices, maybe like upgrades to practice facilities by completing certain objectives. Though it shouldn't take multiple seasons to have a decent upgrade, like in 09 you could upgrade your staff, but it would take so long (and I don't really have the patience to play more than 5 seasons).

I was also wondering what the deal is with the importing of draft classes, I mean I get the principle, but from my experience with the ncaa demo, there are no names for the players etc, so how would that importing work? Would it still be generic names?

Well, with EA Locker there are people who name the entire roster which you can download, nevermind the generic autoname feature. When you imported from MM04 to Live 2004 (PS2) they kept their names, or if you were using numbers still, given generic names.

EA's given a few excuses with release dates and the amount of people that own both games for why they haven't included this feature, yet 2k kept it as they hit the 360 and PS3.
Opinions are my own.

Nothing much on Dynasty Mode as yet. Apparently the Academy will still be present so presumably the drills will still make up training camp, training sessions during the season and rookie scrimmages.

Is there going to be any dynasty info release before the game is released?!? Or is it just because it is unchanged from Live '09?!? 2k10 has already highlight what they're including, so would be nice to see what Live has in store for the mode.

Hopefully they do. I've sent off a Q&A about Dynasty Mode (amongst other topics) so hopefully we get something back before the game comes out. I'd imagine there'll be at least one blog about it.
