Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Well, this particular thread is for anything and everything people would like to suggest rather than in-depth discussion about any particular wish per se. It probably wouldn't hurt to have some seperate threads on certain issues to highlight certain points and submit those along with the Wishlist. The more feedback we can provide, the better. We've nothing to lose by suggesting things and pointing things out.

"EA developers always say it will be fixed. . .lol."

"It probably wouldn't hurt to have some seperate threads on certain issues to highlight certain points and submit those along with the Wishlist."

That's the purpose of the Promise List, which I'd love to see hosted here. It's a list of broken elements of the game for which the developers have promised fixes. It's a very short list, without all the new feature stuff. The desire is that community leaders will get EA to show these things as fixed as the hype machine for the 2010 game gets into gear.

I'm not buying the game until these fixes are shown.

Sure, we can submit that as well.

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Sun Dec 28, 2008 4:44 pm

my wishlist for 2010:
1 the new terry porter play
2 Cut sceens like:
Postgame interviews
Draft Night
Press Conferences
All-star dane-offs
Pre-game previews
3 the net movement like the one in 2k9
4 different scoreboards for each teams(e.g. YES! scoreboard for the nets)
5 Signature dunks/lay-ups
6 Signature taunts (e.g. LeBron James' Ritual before the game)
7 True to life moves
8 Realistic CPU gameplay
9 Realistic scores
10 MVP chants

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Sun Dec 28, 2008 7:29 pm

Some of those are already in the game, to a certain extent. I doubt they'd include different scoreboards as that's all licensing fees and it probably wouldn't thrill ESPN too much to have other networks have a presence in the game.

ok thanks for the info

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Alright, here's my personal list, based on the Xbox 360 version and intended for a PC version. Also includes features I'd like to see retained.

Essentials

  • Release NBA Live 2010 for the PC as a port of the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 version.

  • Keep shot selection and scoring averages realistic in both simulation and gameplay.

  • Further tweak the simulated stats so that they're more realistic. NBA Live 09 (360/PS3) is a lot better in this regard but there are a few discrepencies with the odd player (often point guards like Steve Nash) averaging too many points per game and finding their way into the league leaders for scoring. The range for the blocks, steals, assists and rebounds leaders could also stand to be 2-3 higher in each category. There's also an issue with assists where players like Derek Fisher lead the league when they don't rack up 10 assists per game in real life.

  • Bring back the traditional Reorder Rosters menu in Dynasty Mode, like the one used to edit lineups from the main menu. The player rotation menu is nice and should stay but it's very cumbersome when trying to changing your starting lineup or reordering the bench; in fact, it's downright terrible for that purpose. The traditional method would be far preferable to the awkward and ineffective method of using the player rotation and inactive list menus.

  • Have each team run specific plays through the use of the Signature Playcalling feature. Allow these to be updated by the user as well as NBA Live 365.

  • Add the ability to save in the middle of a game so that users who don't always have time to finish full length games or have to leave the game for an extended period of time can reload and resume it later.

  • Add a custom team feature similar to the one in NBA Live 2000. Ideally include custom art that consists of generic basketball-themed logos and the like, so that they can be used with a variety of custom team names.

  • Allow users to toggle between interest, contract size and contract length when putting together trades in Dynasty Mode.

  • Expand Dynasty Mode to include owner/manager duties such as managing the team's finances similar to Madden's Owner Mode as well as the ability to hire/fire head coaches (who would have their own effect on their respective teams), define player roles and other coaching/front office duties. As with the other "push" Dynasty features, allow these features to be automated for users who don't want to worry about them.

  • Retain the "push" Dynasty aspect with automated tasks, free agent negotiation mini-game, trading block and the other enhancements that have been made to Dynasty Mode in the last couple of years.

  • Allow users to select different season lengths in Dynasty Mode (29, 58 or full 82 game seasons) and select multiple teams to control.

  • Bring back Playoffs Mode so that users can set up their own Playoffs whenever they like without having to play or sim through a season first.

  • Balance the effectiveness of Lockdown Defense. Lockdown Defense works quite well in NBA Live 09 but sometimes it's a bit too effective in the hands of the CPU who seem to recover a bit too quickly. It's great that Quick Strike can't be over exploited but it does mean that some really cool and well-timed moves are negated by the CPU managing to catch up when they've been beaten. It should definitely remain effective though, on the whole NBA Live 09 plays a better defensive game thanks to the presence of Lockdown Defense.

  • Better TV Style Presentation. The broadcast style camera angles are good but the overlays for the starting five and so forth could be improved and made to closer resemble a TV broadcast (ESPN I guess, given the license). The NBA Live 365 branding makes sense in 09 being such a big feature but kind of takes you out of the experience. It would also help if the text was a little bigger as it's sometimes difficult to read, particularly in the boxscores and on stats menus.

  • Improve selection of award winners and All-Stars in Dynasty Mode; incorporate voting in All-Star selections and make picks based on two forwards, two guards, one centre approach so that (for example) two small forwards or two point guards may be selected to start instead of rigidly selecting the starters by the five positions.

  • Clean up issues with players stepping out of bounds or back across half-court. One of those things that you can kind of put up with when you get away with it but you hate to see anyone else or the CPU do it. It should be cleaned up though as it's frustrating to force a player to step out of bounds or go over-and-back and not have it called and of course, defeats the purpose of having those calls in the game. Perhaps bring back the "Boundary Force Field" slider if players want to make it more difficult to get called for those infractions but it's something that needs a bit of tweaking.

  • Include Scenario Mode

  • Include Player Lock function

  • Allow the user to save replays, screenshots, boxscores and stats screens in all game modes.

  • Allow all accessories to be modified in Edit Player.

  • Add the option to add more bio data info to Create/Edit Player such as draft info. Allow the user to edit all aspects of placeholder players added by NBA Live
365 in case users want to start their Dynasty straight away.

  • Display player career stats in table format, as seen on NBA.com, almanacs and the backs of basketball trading cards.

  • Discourage online cheating by assigning a loss when a player quits or disconnects in the fourth quarter, in addition to adding to their "Did Not Finish" rating.

  • Keep the NBA Live Academy and add more drills, including the ability to practice free throws

  • Utilise a more PC friendly user interface with the PC version that takes advantage of the mouse (drop down and pop-up menus, use of the scroll wheel, etc).

  • Improve substitution logic so that the CPU will switch players currently in the lineup to a different position when subbing in another player (like NBA 2K) as well as subbing players in based on their secondary positions.

  • Add more gameplay sliders so that users can customise their experience as much as possible.

  • User profiles with the ability to track individual user stats.

  • Tone down trades in Dynasty Mode so that CPU teams don't trade star players as often and fewer unbalanced trades (stars for role players) occur.

Things We'd Also Like To See

  • Be a Pro expanded into a full single player career mode (similar to Madden)

  • Ability to track career milestones and break NBA records.

  • Expanded selection of FIBA teams

  • Skills Challenge and Shooting Stars events in All-Star Weekend

  • Legendary players and teams

  • Retro Jerseys for all teams

  • Weekly highlight/recap shows & fictional news articles in Dynasty Mode.

  • Have players sitting on the bench wear warmups and inactive players wear suits.

  • Actual player portraits rather than in-game renderings.

Things To Fix & Avoid

  • Players running out of bounds or back across halfcourt and not getting called for a violation

  • Injured players not returning to the active roster in Dynasty Mode when they've healed

  • Unmodifiable "injured" status in NBA Live 365 updates

  • Crashes/lockups in Dynasty Mode

  • Players wearing shoes with inappropriate colourways for their current team

  • Users are unable to modify CPU teams even when option is enabled in Dynasty Mode.

To Add. Maybe a Quick pass animation for swinging. They took out the high lob into the post. They should also fix that for general passing.

I'll try to come up with more Ideas

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Enough said already. I already like their suggestions like the create team and better and realistic animations. The best and most important suggestion is to RELEASE IT FOR PC!

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Fri Jan 09, 2009 8:35 am

I'm going to redo mine after playing a few games today.

Essentials:
PC
get rid of the canned 2 player animations for dribbling, defending, blocking, collisions, all of it. Put in place a better system.
No more shooting/dunking/blocking/rebounding through the backboard. Use the physics engine and dont allow player's arms or the ball to go through it.
be a pro mode
bring back hardwood classic jerseys
create a team
Update Courts, Jerseys, + Logos mid season via free DLC/patches

Bring Back the Following features from older games:
The foot animation system from Live 07
Off-Ball control on offense
Adjusting layups (freestyle air)
Tip Slams
Tip Ins
Dunkpack editing/choosing

Things We'd Also Like To See:
let us swat or deflect the ball into the crowd, since there would be an issue with people turning out of bounds off in the rules, have this only happen when that rule is on
legends, classic teams, all time teams
With the indefinite hiatus of NBA Street, include a "street" game mode. Doesnt have to be over the top or street moves or anything, just let us do a pick em game on a street court or empty arena with practice jerseys.
NBDL teams
EuroLeague teams

Things to Fix & Avoid:
Put the numbers back on the bench players throughout the entire game
Animate the crowd + sideline people at the same frames per second as the rest of the game
dont let players "warp" to the basket to dunk
If a player's foot is out of bounds, make that player be called out of bounds

What foot animations in Live 07? Are you talking about the locomotion?

get rid of the canned 2 player animations for dribbling, defending, blocking, collisions, all of it. Put in place a better system.

This is what I have wanted for a while now, and this is how I describe it.

Add procedural animation technology to collision animations or animations involving some sort of contact or near contact between 2 or more players.

If you look at Assassin's Creed and how the assassin puts his hand on the crowd as he walks by, it is procedural. In NBA Live, adding this to the game could give it an unlimited amount of dunk, shot, dribble, steal, block, and rebound animations, because they could be changed proceduraly based on where a player or a part of a players body is in relation to another player or part of their body, the ball, the backboard, or a combination. It could also make things like steals, blocks, and rebounds more realistic with the ball actually being touched by the players hand with the only animation morphing applied proceduraly to the limbs. It could be applied to layups to have the shooter appear to naturally avoid the arm of a shot blocker, and it could be applied to dunks to have a player always grab the rim in the correct spot.

oh my god if they could bring back stuff from older lives, it would be amazing.

the main thing for me is passing. directional passing is pretty much useless. i have to icon pass to each person. crosscourt passes and long passes should be less accurate to discourage unrealistic "touchdown" passing. players should be able to control how hard the pass should be thrown. tap for a lob (especially for post-entry) or hold for bullet passing. Player awareness should be taken into affect when passing. take into account the players' line of vision... if a player doesn't know a teammate is at a certain spot, they should not be able to pass it to them.

Live used to be the king of presentation. i believe they lost that this year. they should spice it up with new highlight packages or better yet all those freaking stat overlays they used to have in the older lives pre 2001. bring in either the Czar or Reggie in to replace Kerr.

Perfect the free throw system. i like how you guys decided on the meter system, but it is still just as easy as the right stick method. go back to the t-meter if you have to. also i don't understand the new idea that the free throw shooting meters have to be on the backboard (Live 2005, 06, 09)

less running jumpers. please.'
focus the game on defense. defense should win games as it does in real life.
work on variety of post moves. you should be able to do more inside than back down for 10 seconds and throw up a prayer using the shoot button.
add mouthpieces as an accessory.
number of timeouts should be cut as the game goes on. i.e. you lose your 20 second timeout at the end of the first half. you should not have 7 timeouts at the end of the game if you haven't used any.
perfect subbing on the fly. that's a very important aspect of the game if fatigue is going to be on by default.
some of the animations seem a little stiff and robotic, especially when the players are running/jogging half bent over.
when players run the inbounds play where they line up, they should line up a little tighter.

Pdub wrote:What foot animations in Live 07? Are you talking about the locomotion?

Yea, the foot planting technology or whatever. The one good thing about that game.

What you described about AC is dead on what I was meaning. I think I said something about it last year except I used skate. as an example when the skater's push foot is up on a curb or he gets too close to a wall.

I forgot one thing for fixes/avoid

Do NOT include these stupid 2 player collision animations where the defender doesnt move.

2 examples.
I was attempting to take a charge in the post, offensive player shoots, I get the collision animation that should only occur if I pressed block and get called for a foul.
Again, attempting to take a charge on a penetrating Kobe, I got a similar collision animation as above where my defender tries to block when I am just holding take charge. And I get the charge foul called even though my player was up in the air.

i have not played nba live 09 either yet simply b/c i do not own the consoles....
i suppose there will not be any more pc- nba lives.... but
if they aren't going to give us official roster patches, make it so that we can do whatever we want with the team rosters so that we can change it on our own at any time if it needs to be. past live (pc) versions i own are so difficult to change rosters. especially when i have not much knowledge in db editing.
create ur own league/team ability like in nba live 2000.

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Actually it looks somewhat promising that we'll get a PC version of NBA Live 2010. Nothing's been confirmed yet but Peter Moore seems to have hinted at a return to the PC for NBA Live, Madden etc.

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

As what sir Andrew said, EA should expand the FIBA mode. They should include more international teams so Live players all over the world can select their favorite national teams and their own national teams. And also, please make a Live 2010 version on the PS2 version. Another one, make the FIBA court more realistic, realistic that the design of the court is the same as the one used in real life. more power to EA!

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Sat Jan 10, 2009 4:10 pm

They include teams based on FIBA rankings though so they'll probably always be someone left out year-to-year. Perhaps if they expand the FIBA teams to 30 to match the 30 NBA teams, they'll be able to cut down on that a little with all the major basketball countries represented and all regions adequately represented.

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

PS3!

1.
the option to have a 28 or 54 games season on dynasty mode and season (takes to long to play a 82 game seaon)
2.
A be a pro mode which could mabe start at high School and have like 10 games then depending on how you go depends on how many colleges send u offers and how good the colleges are EXAMPLE through your high school u avarage 13 points 9 rebounds 7 assists so only a smaller college like lets say maybe St marys and a few lower ranked teams but if u get outstanding stats you could get like 5 offer from schools like duke, ucla, uconn, and u play a season at your college which has random default players wich ratings are judged on how good the school is then and the betta u play higher u go in the draft... then when u hit the nba it goes for a career lenght or untill u retiere or atleast a season whith real live situations like going to practice, having a agent, trying out for your country for fiba, custom locker, sneaker deals, relashioships with players and coaches, Fatigue, Short term/long term goals,
3.
WAY more i depth pre-game and half-time reports.
4.
Make-a-franchise mode? kind of like a dynasty mode where u can create your stadium, logo, team uniform at the start and start off with certain (not to much) amount of money to sign a team some good free agents or ask teams for a player for some money or somthing then sign your coaches around the lines of that? then basicly its like dynasty mode for the rest.
5.
in game situation where the players might get a technical foul? or maybe get in a bit of push n' shove with the oppisition or maybe trash talk a little
6.
realistic injury rate in dynasty mode EXAMPLE. half the nba will be injured after the first couple games!
7.
have a place in the menu to veiw the players go-2-moves like live 08
8.
Better Celebration when u win a championship.
9.
Better looking default rookies in dynasty mode
10.
the players could make shots or layups of the backbourd!

There's an irritation in the game where the defensive player on a break will speed up and get in front of the ball handler and stop the fast break. In reality no one can just stop someone like that. They should add some kind of animation that favors the ball handler to bully through him and get a chance for an And1. Or draw a defensive foul. Because it's a FOUL

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Mon Jan 12, 2009 2:25 am

Also they call Offensive foul, when the defensive player jumps to challenge the jumpshooter. They need to take that animation out, and put something more realistic in there

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:14 pm

Oh, another one, can EA include some alley-oop plays? I mean, alley-oop can make the next NBA Live more realistic. More power again to EA and NLSC!

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Wed Jan 14, 2009 12:01 pm

My Ideas:

1. A PC Version!!!!!!!!!! And not a fucked up PS2 version like ea released for 08, 07 etc! Me and I think everyone else on this forum wants a next gen port. If 2K were able to do this easily, surely EA can.
2. A Choice of Basketballs to choose from in the academy, ie Spalding Jersey balls, Nike, etc
3. Signature dribbling. What this is where each player in the nba has there own dribbling style as in real life. It seems like all players in live 09 can do all of the Quickstrike anklebreaker moves without too much trouble. If you want me to elaborate further, let me know.
4. More animations. 2K is near perfect in this category. And for the PC version, don't use the AIACT to script moves, use individual files like 2K's signature moves on the PC version.
5. This is a big one. REALISTIC GAMEPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't like how in live 09 for ps3 me and my friend were both able to score 200+ points each game on Superstar level difficulty. Also make the difference between teams in Fiba mode more realistic. I was able to beat my friend again by a lot as Australia on Superstar, while he was USA on Rookie!!!! :D :D :D
6. Make the hot zones more detailed. Instead of just being hot, normal and cold, use hot, slightly hot, normal, slightly cold, and cold. Use lighter colours of red and blue to show the slightly hot and cold zones.
7. Fixed Simulation engine. Make this good for the PC version.
8. Fast breaks updated! PLEASE, No more fucked up slow lob passes, make the players pass like men, not like a pussy Under 12 girls team which I have to coach each week
9. MUST BE ABLE TO BE PATCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10. Good jerseys when the game comes out. If the game isn't able to be patched, the jerseys have to look good! Take a lesson from jersey makers in this forum such as Vhan and c0nr4d!!!!!!!!!!! Make them good and in 1024x1024 resolution at least!!!!!! NO MORE SHITTY 256X256 unrealistic mesh jerseys. Where is the fucking quality!! COME ON!!!
11. Unlock all teams jerseys when the game is released, not unlocked via a fucking code that half the fucking time doesn't work!!!!!!!! LIKE LIVE 08!!!!! Also decent retro jerseys would be nice.
12. If a new team enters the NBA, don't give them generic jerseys, give them the real court, real jerseys, real logos. I tried to take my ps2 version of live 09 back after I found out it couldn't be updated!! And the bastards at EB wouldn't give me a refund!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. Make the play calling realistic, and make lots of plays!!!!!!!! I love to learn new plays, and the plays I use with the teams I coach most of the time come from live 09 and 2k9. Go ahead, laugh
14. More drills in academy, like in basketball training.
15. Updated Dynasty mode. Give more control, and add little things like being able to fire staff, add the ability to watch a simulation, etc
16. Update online mode, and do something to get rid of cheesers!

Thats all for now.

Re: Official NLSC NBA Live 2010 Wishlist Thread

Fri Jan 16, 2009 6:00 am

they need to erase the entire game. they should rebuild it on one of the older live games like live 06.
then they should fix the super dunks and other problems from live 06. then they should add new realistic features to the game. collisions, more missed shots, better ball/rim physics, more animations, ect.
