Talk about NBA Live 10 here.

kinda ew that the non "hustle" players don't move at all while the hustle plays are taking place until someone grabs the ball

Meh I'm torn on the Hustle Plays. I love the animation but what I hate in those is when someone else picks up the ball. For example the PG knocks it loose and then the SF or PF or whoever is nearest just runs full spead ahead to the ball, through everybody and picks up the ball. No-one would gamble that much IRL. Stojakovic one is the best example I think.

this aspect of the game is decent. not to impressive to me.

shit, its a step up from wack ass nba live 09

Can't wait to get home to check this out

It still looks like there is something sticky on the floor as the players are having a hard time going from a standstill to running. It barely looks like players are running hard, too.
I agree with Jaosming about the robots not paying attention to the limited hustle scripting. As soon as that ball comes loose a couple guys should start streaking down the floor both offense and defense. I can already see that I am going to get tired of that canned animation where the defender spins around and falls.
At least it's in the game, though. Not like the game evolves around diving on the floor.

I like the hustle plays, as long as it's not overly frequent in it's application.
I was disappointed to see that at 0:35 on the video when Jermaine O'Neal goes up for the block he isn't even looking at or facing the player or going for the ball. They really need to fix that before the game is released if possible.

He was probably just trying to disrupt crlos boozers dunk so he changes his shot even though he failed miserably. He doesnt have to look at him.
That looks awesome btw! I am getting that for shure!!!

That was crazy even the go hard thing was crazy and i'm starting to like the graphics a little bit

I think that it looks great. It's nice to see a more fluid animation when a player goes for a lay-up. The rim and backboard have a much better reaction to the ball than they did in NBA Live 09.

This game looks crazy lol. . . You can tell they have a lot of the sliders and game on easy!!! On Superstar it shouldn't be that easy to steal
The only thing that bothers me is when the players hit the floor, and fight for the ball, the animations with the ball slippin away seems automatic. They should have put more animations in the the game, because it looks like it's gonna be a loose ball every time

The moves look a littl e too forced, the players on the bench's reaction was really nice though

Looks alright to me. It's nice to see players fall when gambling for steals though hopefully that won't occur randomly and it will be the result of being overly aggressive/over-reaching for a loose ball. It's nice to see these things in the game, though as I mentioned in the other video thread hopefully the hustle plays won't override what should be an out of bounds or backcourt violation call (ie a player steps on the line, but because it's a "saving" animation it doesn't register).
Crowd reactions in the video were a bit subdued but given there's different settings for crowds and they might not be "hyped" in those particular clips it might not be anything to read into too much.

I'm hoping there are animations for players to try to save the ball but be unable to because ball is travelling too fast or out of their reach. IRL, you are more likely to not save a ball that you are going after than save it, that's why when you save it, it is so rewarding.
Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:05 pm
It looks like there might be, a couple of times the players have ended up knocking the ball instead of grabbing it. Presumably there will be situations where that happens and the ball goes out of bounds before anyone else can scoop it up.

Its good to see hustle plays back in I don't expect it to be perfect or non repetitive this year its something to work on for next year. This years development has been the largest since the introduction of next gen so I think some slack can be cut to some degree. There were a lot of cracks in the foundation that needing repairing and so once they have something more solid they can build upon that. The game is really starting to feel and look more like real life basketball lets see how the game plays and feels when demo is released.
Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:35 pm
I'm certainly not expecting perfection, but I am hoping for some leaps forward. With all the secrecy I'm guessing there's also a couple of big things that are hopefully suitably innovative. NBA Live 10 doesn't need to surpass 2K in the hearts and minds of professional critics and the basketball video game community at large, that's a tall order for one development cycle, but it needs to close the gap and pull away from its predecessors, a bigger step forward than 09 was.

Forgot to mention that I don't like the bench standing up in the first minute or so of the game. Unless that really happens and I haven't noticed it.
Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:16 am
That looks extremely frustrating. Chandler sees that the ball is knocked loose, but just stands there. As do every other player.
So this will be the feature that probably gets over used in this years game (think pro-hop) and then they'll "fix" it next year and we'll be giddy. Yay.
The movement of the players still looks un-natural to me.

That really happens. They are sometimes standing up till their team makes a field goal.

Looks good... next goal is the block animations

Nice, gotta love the graphics. Gameplay is improved since 09.
Anyway NBA live will get closer and closer when we talk about 2k-s gameplay. Baby steps, but closer.
NBA live will always dominate the graphics over the 2k. And they will dominate the whole sale top's in 2-3 years. 2k is using the same engine all over again.

The Lakers have taken to doing that every game, I believe.

a lot of teams are doing that, Lakers, Utah, Oklahoma City, I think New Orleans does it too
