NBA Live 10 Achievements Hints & Tips

Sun Nov 08, 2009 11:31 pm

For those who like to rack up Xbox Live Achievements/Trophies for the PS3, I thought we could compile a list of hints and tips for reaching the various goals in NBA Live 10. For those after a reference, you can find a list of the Achievements here in the NBA Live Wiki.

General tips

  • Kind of goes without saying but if getting the Achievement is more important to you than the actual challenge, turn the Difficulty level down. Note that "David and Goliath" requires you to play on Superstar difficulty to get the Achievement.

  • Select 12 minute quarters when trying for the various stat based achievements. Unless you're playing on Rookie Difficulty, you're probably going to have a tough time scoring 81 points with Kobe Bryant in five minute quarters and an even harder time reaching the marks for steals, blocks and rebounds in various other Achievements.

  • When attempting to reach one of the scoring marks (eg 81 points with Kobe, 55 points with LeBron vs the Knicks) don't force feed the player or hog the ball with them too much as you'll likely end up committing a lot of turnovers and jacking up some bad shots. You'll still need to take what the defense gives you, execute plays for the player to get them open and in a position where they can score and get their teammates involved in the offense to keep the defense honest. In other words, don't just give the ball to LeBron or Kobe in the backcourt and run it all the way in to try and dunk. On the lower difficulties you might be able to get away with it more often, but All-Star and Superstar are much less forgiving of cheesy play.

Double-Double

If you're playing 12 minute quarters, this one shouldn't be too difficult. Dwight Howard's as good a player as any to get this achievement for you and if you can force the CPU into enough bad attempts, with 12 minute quarters you can have this Achievement by halftime (or be close to it). So long as you're getting Howard touches down low, this Achievement should be earned fairly organically with Howard grabbing boards left and right. If you're concerned you're not going to reach the mark, by all means take control of Howard on defense and remember to box out, but in the hands of the CPU he'll probably come up with at least 10 boards fairly easily. Depending on what the defense gives you at the other end, you could probably go for the Sprite's Dynamic 10 Achievement at the same time.

Rookie Record

I'd suggest Blake Griffin for this one, owing to his ability to post up and finish inside. Select 12 minute quarters and keep feeding Griffin in the post, but don't force too many shots that aren't there. Be careful at the defensive end as well, as you won't be able to get the record with Griffin sitting on the bench with foul trouble.

Recently, before reading this, I've done Kobe's 81 and 100 points achievements it took me 2 and a half quarter (12 minutes each) on rookie . I've also done the Kings vs Lakers on superstar achievement. Just selected 2 minute quarters, and beaten the Lakers - easy... :) .
I think that the hardest achievement is the D-Wade buzzer beater in 2 OT, I think that the easiest way to do this is to play 2 minute quarters on rookie and let opponent score and manage the result of the game to make it tie in the end of 4th quarter and of the first overtime(maybe by switching sides during the game) . Then score a buzzer beating shot in 2ot by the flash.

Andrew, I've seen that you won the championship in your dynasty, have you played all the games or simulated some, If you didnt simulate I wonder how have you managed to play 82 games + playoffs since October , 2 minute quarters or what ?! :)
I've also seen that you havent made the triple double achievement ;) What are you waiting for, just grab those 10 rebounds with Derrick Rose and you are practically done. I made my with Howard - 30pts, 10rebs, 11as ( 8 minute quarters - superstar lvl)

I actually got the Championship achievement when I was simming through a season to check out the issues with the simulated stats.

That's good advice about the Kings/Lakers achievement, if you're keen to get it there's no point giving the Lakers ample opportunity to get out in front or make a comeback. I guess it depends how much of an achievement you want or whether you want to try for a few achievements in one game, but turning the quarter length down to two minutes is a sound plan.
