in real life if you go to FT line and jump for a lay up you will most likely see those types of hanging shots too.........the thing is in real life people take jumpers and fade aways from those spots instead of trying a lay up.
If you get closer to the rim you will see a lot more animations on layup attempts like flaoters, one handed lay ups with contact and other fouling and falling animations.

guys have to stop pressing lay up button from ft line expecting somethign special to happen except for those types of haning animations.

I agree. I believe the reason for this is because of the layup animations being so slow. With the lack of responsive defensive controls it would be hard to contest any layup, so they are slowed down and can actually be contested. Another theory is that the clipping issues of past Live's collision detection caused the developers to increase how often the animations get triggered. I would like for less of these animations to happen, but not at the expense of the ability to contest the shots.

On the contrary, I have seen several clean layups through traffic, performed a few of them myself, and I think it might have something to do with laying off the turbo button, or just finding EA's collision holes.
