Just posted this on the main page but you beat me to it here in the Forum. :)

I'm not much of a shoe buff but seems like a nice enough design to me and looking pretty good in the game. Of note, the blog also mentions that certain players will change shoes throughout the season as new signature shoes are unveiled. Sounds alright to me, so long as they're doing the daily updates for player DNA and accessories they might as well add the new shoes.

I like the LeBron shoes but this year the Air Max LeBron looks not good, the white/navy version is a little bit better than the home version

I still liking the Zoom LeBron VI (Y)

What the fuck do I care about the shoes? How's the gameplay and do they actually play basketball or do they model shoes and play at the airport?

It wasn't the only snippet they released the other day. Some people really do seem to care about the shoes though.

Honestly though, how often do you even see the details on the shoes? Unless you pause & replay & zoom. Who does that as often though?

If you (anyone reading this) are one of the people that do...fuck man, do something with your life. That's coming from a guy who has 10000+ posts on an internet forum. See how pathetic it is now?

They (the shoe lovers) will argue back that it adds to the 'realism' of the game. Right. :|

it does add realism to the game. Anyone notice that the players don't look skinny in Live 10

I agree with jackal up to a point in that gameplay is the more important thing, but shit dude let the shoe lovers have their fun. :|

i like to know that authentic player shoes are in game also. it's not a huge thing to me though.

Yeah they look too fat. And what value is that sort of realism? I don't know anything about shoes, I could care less if the players were running around in pink slippers as long as the game played the way it should. That's the realism most sane people want. People who are more interested in shoes, socks, headbands and that sort of garbage than gameplay probably snort pop rocks and cut themselves when they get upset.

Agreed, I don't really notice it. That said, it's nice to have all the authentic shoes in the game same as custom accessories and other player details because it's all done in the name of attention to detail but I'm certainly not one to pause and take a look at the shoes.

That sort of stuff kind of ticks me off, every year more attention is given to adding stitches to a jersey (something weirdo's like Dragon notice and then point out when 2K has had it and it's been no big deal) or some miniscule detail is added to the shoe-laces of a sneaker and for years we've been begging for an in-game save feature to return and nothing. Absolutely nothing.

The news ticker...where'd that go? But I do have a shiny white hangar to play ball in...ten times tops.

Well not me, I shouldn't complain given I'm not getting it...but still, just goes to show how weird our basic "needs" for the Live series has changed. People are more happy with uber "cool" looking sweat that looks like a condom on the players than a realistic 12 minute game with a normal score no more than 100. Anywyas, I feel another rant coming so bye.

There's a demand for it to a certain extent. With the power of the current technology they can do some pretty cool stuff with the aesthetics and it's important in its own right, it's an Xbox 360/PS3 game so it has to look the part. But I'll forego nitpicks on the graphics so long as the gameplay/Dynasty experience delivers, no question.

Better to nitpick the graphics than the soundtrack though. I still don't get that one...graphics we can't do much about but if nothing else you can turn off/down the game's soundtrack and play some of your own music if it's really that distracting. That's a bit off the point but it's another one of those things that some people deem crucial that doesn't strike me as a sensible gamebreaker. Clunky controls, broken gameplay? Sure. But the soundtrack? With all due respect to those folks, that's taking things too far.

The worst of the lot has to be consumers who won't buy the game because X player is on the cover or X player isn't on the cover.

That's batshit craziness right there.

Yes, they take the crown. Though it is proof that the cover player does influence customers on the fence, our opinion of their criteria not withstanding.

But the aesthetics are just gravy, the gameplay/dynasty is supposed to be the meat of the game.
It's like some people are just happy having all that gravy without the meat and EA is more than happy to serve it to them fools.

You'll get no argument from me there, except that I do think EA is trying. The current Dev Team certainly seems intent on turning things around. But as important as gameplay and Dynasty Mode are, I think things like this are expected these days so they've got to add them and show them off before getting to the meat of the game. That's my hope anyway, especially given how secretive the guys have been compared to years past.

I too, think they are trying. With such blogs, twits, posts on forums that dev team members put out to interact with the Live community.
But come on, 1000 shoes? Who the hell needs that? I want the dev team to have some balls in the future to tell the fans of the game something like "sorry we could only give you 50 shoes this year instead of 1000, and no airplane hangar either but just the home court for practice mode because we could save that space and use it instead to greatly improve gameplay and to bring back features such as in-game saves, better CAP and CAT mode and limits, etc..."

Nothing screams secretive like an airplane hangar (Area 51?).

To be honest, I was fine with having the Academy to shoot around in but apparently some people didn't like it. It's still going to be in Dynasty Mode, the Hangar sounds alright as a "default" shootaround type mode. I doubt it's the big thing this year, which is why it's been revealed early on. In any case I agree that not all these things are absolutely crucial, but some are certainly nice to see in the game regardless and my hope is that they're getting the finer points of aesthetics and some extras out of the way before getting to the stuff most of us are more interested in. Presumably it won't be much longer.
